The Most Satisfied Reincarnate

Chapter 336: Alice...

As soon as Annie left the high ground, a wave of anticipation swept over Alice, awakening her from her slumber. Her eyelids fluttered open, revealing emerald pupils that reflected Desmond's beaming smile.

"Good morning, sister," Desmond greeted, his voice brimming with warmth. Alice's body tensed involuntarily, her beautiful face briefly displaying a flicker of discomfort before she mustered a forced smile, her eyes filled with genuine affection as she gazed at her younger brother.

"M-Morning, brother," she replied in a frail tone. As the words escaped her lips, her countenance seemed to wither with the passage of time, evoking a tear to trickle down Laura's cheek as she observed the scene.

Young lady Alice is truly resilient! Laura thought, spurred by the absence of any command from Desmond. She devoted herself even more earnestly to her healing spell, channeling her efforts into accelerating Alice's recovery.

When Desmond noticed Laura's unwavering commitment, he simply nodded and smiled, gently wiping away the stains of blood from Alice's body. "Stay still, this might cause some discomfort," he spoke solemnly, proceeding to carefully extract the longest chains embedded deep within her flesh.

Alice's face contorted with pain as she bore the excruciating ordeal, blood gushing forth from the wounds. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead, her lively countenance gradually paling.

The sight of Alice's suffering proved unbearable for Desmond. He exerted all his strength to remove the chain, growing increasingly astounded by its remarkable length. How did they manage to implant something so invasive in my sister? Desmond seethed inwardly. Initially, he had resolved to settle the debt, but now it seemed their punishment was far too lenient.

Soon, the king ice bed took on an altered hue, the dark crimson of pooled blood welling up and flowing onto the ground. Even Alice, biting her lower lip, couldn't help but release a muffled cry of agony.

"I-it hurts, brother!" she exclaimed, unable to restrain herself as she clutched Desmond tightly, inadvertently causing her nails to dig into his back, drawing blood.

Laura, in a state of panic, had depleted her energy reserves through the prolonged use of healing spells. She tore her clothes, using the fabric to press against the wound on Alice's body, her actions a desperate attempt to assist Desmond.

Several minutes elapsed before Annie returned, accompanied by a pack of wolves perched on her shoulder. She gasped in shock upon discovering Laura's tear-stained face near what should have been the pristine king ice bed, now transformed into a grisly scene painted in dark crimson, with red puddles dotting the ground.

"Young master," Annie stammered, her voice trembling, her gaze fixed on Desmond, who stood motionless, his attention fixated on the ice-encased figure of his dear sister.

Blood hovered in the air, freezing alongside Alice's body. But what tugged at Annie's heartstrings was the faint smile and tender gaze Alice had directed at Desmond before succumbing to the icy grip.

"Let's not speak of her as if she's already lost to us," Desmond declared sharply, glaring at Laura, who continued to sob, her tears mingling with his sister's blood. "I need time to heal her," he added, flicking his fingers, causing the entire ground to tremble.

The ice mirror that had once enveloped them shattered into countless shards, dissolving into pure white energy. Simultaneously, the elevated platform gradually descended, exposing a sea of hostile gazes emanating from the surrounding beasts.

Once a spell materialized within this world, its creation became an indelible part of reality. However, Desmond found himself constantly repairing the structure of the elevated platform, layering it with additional elements, making it arduous to sustain a healing spell for his sister.

Laura and Annie swiftly prostrated themselves on the ground, gripping the earth tightly. Caught off guard by the suddenness of the situation, they hadn't had a chance to prepare, but no one dared to question their young master's cold gaze.

To their astonishment, the frozen body of young lady Alice didn't revert to white energy as expected. Instead, she remained encased within the ice block, albeit with the size of the block shrinking enough for their young master to carry on his back.

"ROAR!"

Meanwhile, Desmond locked eyes with several beasts, towering in size like trucks. Among them were familiar creatures he recognized as Dire Wolves and Husk Wolves. However, he also spotted an unfamiliar beast—an entity resembling a wolf but adorned with numerous large, glowing blue thorns on its back, akin to hedgehogs.

Although smaller in stature than the other wolf-like beasts, the strange wolf commanded a peculiar air of respect and fear from its counterparts. It strode through their midst, eventually standing before Desmond.

Rather than exhibiting lust, anger, or bloodlust, the strange wolf's gaze lingered on him for a moment before shifting its attention to the rest of Desmond's group.

*growl*

"He seems to hold disdain," Desmond surmised, his intuition hitting the mark. The strange wolf emitted a snort directed at him. Undeterred, Desmond stood his ground, his eyes locked in a steely glare with the imposing creature, which stood twice his height.

Simultaneously, the scene Desmond had been awaiting materialized before him.

[Race: Beasts

Species: Husk King]

Before Desmond could finish reading the information, the so-called 'Husk King' lunged at him, jaws open, revealing teeth that glowed with a radiant blue.

*thud*

In a flash, a jet of green blood sprayed forth. The tooth of the Husk King, instead of the expected red, produced a vibrant green hue. The impact sent the creature hurtling backward, crashing into the other wolves.

"That was too close," Desmond muttered, shaking off the earth that had hardened around his hands, mimicking Gibson's spell. The hardened earth bore a deep gash shaped just like the tooth of the Husk King.

*howl*

The Husk King let out a resounding howl, signaling the other wolves to launch their attack. The sight of wolves the size of trucks hurtling toward him sent shivers of fear through Desmond's maids.

Those familiar with the power of a single Husk King knew it equaled that of two 2nd class swordsmen. Coupled with the presence of numerous Dire and Husk wolves, victory in this battle seemed impossible without a group of thirty individuals, all seasoned 2nd class swordsmen.

"Young master!" Despite their trepidation, Annie and Laura refused to be ungrateful servants. Annie swiftly unsheathed her daggers, hurling them at the eyes of the approaching beasts, while Laura chanted incantations with the last remnants of her energy.

"ROAR!" One of the beasts finally succumbed to anger as Annie's dagger found its mark, piercing its eye. The creatures leaped, casting a shadow that engulfed Annie entirely. Their speed was blinding, but Annie managed to react in time.

*boom*

The beast's claw struck nothing but empty air, leaving behind a small crater as evidence of its missed attack. The remaining beasts charged in confusion, bewildered by their fallen comrade.

"A dog remains a dog," Desmond sneered as the realization dawned upon the now-vulnerable beast. It attempted to shake off the human female standing atop it, but it was too late. A claw from one of its fellow beasts slashed across its head.

*sprout*

A wolf's head soared through the air, its body cleaved into three parts, leaving a pool of green blood staining the ground. These beasts were ruthless creatures, showing no concern for their comrades or even their own kin, setting them apart from ordinary animals.
