The Most Satisfied Reincarnate

Chapter 121: Big Bob!

Meanwhile, Desmond, on his way to the kitchen's back door, paused and cast his gaze towards the nearby backyard. "Should I attempt it now or wait?" Considering the unstable nature of his spell's power, Desmond ultimately decided to postpone the experiment until the following day.

Upon returning to the front of the stairs, Desmond observed that all the maids were engrossed in their respective duties. "Good, no one seems suspicious," he thought to himself.

Ascending to the second floor, Desmond entered the bathroom. As soon as the door closed, a curious hush fell over the maids who had been on duty. They exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued. "Did you hear that?" one of the maids whispered.

"I heard it too. It seemed to come from beneath the house," another maid replied, her voice filled with intrigue.

However, the maids who had served in Desmond's household for a long time ceased their conversation abruptly. "If you wish to continue working and living here, ignore what you heard," one of the senior maids declared solemnly before resuming her tasks.

The remaining maids had numerous questions swirling in their minds, but upon witnessing the stern expressions of their senior, they fell silent and carried on with their duties.

"Should we ask Laura about it?" one maid ventured to suggest, prompting a disapproving frown and glare from the senior maid. The implication was clear—such inquiries were unwelcome.

As the day transitioned into night, Desmond, having just awakened from his slumber, indulged in his customary routine: enjoying ice cream accompanied by his favorite wine while perusing a parchment. "A thief apprehended... an elegant new shop opening near the guild..." The parchment contained a moving picture that depicted the very events Desmond had mentioned.

Rather than reading, Desmond found himself engrossed in the footage from earlier in the day. The realization that this world had achieved a level of scientific and magical fusion left him both slightly astonished and uncertain. He wondered whether he should feel pride or dismay, considering that he had managed to replicate a similar system within himself.

This realization prompted him to search for similar items, but only this particular newspaper caught his attention.

According to the books he had read, the creator of this newspaper was none other than Sieg, further fueling Desmond's suspicions. Was Sieg also from another world or a fellow transmigrator like himself? The fact that Sieg possessed the ability to wield magic unparalleled by others and had innovative ideas sparked Desmond's intrigue.

Sieg's creative approach to crafting unique spells only deepened the mystery surrounding him.

Suddenly, the scene shifted back to Desmond in his room, engrossed in reading the parchment. Unbeknownst to him, the curious maid standing beside him couldn't resist the temptation and discreetly glanced at the contents of the parchment.

Desmond muttered to himself as he read, "There were traces of Sky-Hunter near the beast territory borders." The news and moving pictures on the parchment cast a heavy atmosphere, causing Desmond's demeanor to shift from relaxed to grave.

The curious maid, sensing the change in atmosphere, swiftly composed herself, putting on a tense expression as she focused her gaze forward, avoiding any further prying into Desmond's reading material.

The narrative then shifted to the previous night, at the border area of the Beasts Territory. Deep within the forest, a small cave emitted a radiant light, illuminating the darkness that surrounded it.

Inside the cave, a married couple rested. They were a seemingly perfect match, with the man possessing a handsome face and a slender yet muscular physique. He wore a friendly smile as he looked after his wife, who exuded charm with her loose black hair and affectionate gaze directed at her husband.

Approaching his wife, the man gently held her face and expressed concern, "Are you alright?" His brows furrowed upon noticing her pale complexion and the scars on her forehead.

"It's just a minor wound, honey. I can heal it in an instant; you worry too much," the woman replied softly, grasping her husband's hand with both of hers.

A moment of silence enveloped them as they stared into each other's eyes. The only sounds that could be heard were the water droplets falling from the cave's ceiling and the faint humming emitted by a small hovering light flower behind the woman.

The man chuckled at his wife's playful expression and affectionate gaze. "Silly, then I'll check the conditions outside."

Initially laughing, the woman's expression turned worried upon hearing her husband's words. She held onto his hand and pleaded, "Be careful."

Her husband turned around, returning her smile before finally stepping outside with his sword in hand.

Left alone, the woman closed her eyes and entered a state of meditation. Suddenly, she extended one of her arms and began chanting a spell. In the midst of the air, an ice needle materialized and pointed upwards...

*Swoosh!*

A piercing scream echoed through the air, followed by an object plummeting in front of the woman. Opening her eyes, she spoke in a low voice, "Hmm, what should I cook for tomorrow?"

The fallen object was a bat with horns on its head, resembling the size of an adult dog. Its wings boasted blue spots, adding a touch of color to its appearance.

The woman approached the fallen bat and created several ice chains that impaled its body, forming a means of transportation. The small light flower that accompanied her illuminated the interior of the cave as she walked.

Within the cave, various clay-made cooking utensils and even a wooden bathtub were present. Reaching the end of the cave, the woman stopped in front of a table resembling a cooking station, also made of clay. Extending her other hand, she began an incantation.

An ice blade materialized in the air, which she then wielded while simultaneously controlling the ice chains.

*Pop!*

The ice chains hoisted the bat's body to the top of the table. The woman, anticipating this, swiftly swung the ice knife downward, severing the bat's left horn.

As her gaze fell upon the severed horn, her expression softened. "Desmond must like these cool horns," she murmured. A sense of longing filled her eyes as she continued, "My children, I miss you all."

This married couple is none other than Bastian and Leona, Desmond's parents. They have been trapped within this forest for over six months.

When their camp was attacked by Sky-Hunters, they made the difficult decision to become bait, allowing the other soldiers to escape the relentless pursuit of the beasts. Despite Leona's mastery of witchcraft and Bastian's dual-class abilities, they lacked the confidence to completely elude the clutches of these formidable creatures.

During their escape, they narrowly avoided being swallowed whole by the Sky-Hunters on multiple occasions. If not for Bastian carrying Leona and Leona using her magical support, one of them might not have survived.

Despite their valiant efforts, the Sky-Hunter unleashed a barrage of spells unique to its kind, pushing Bastian and Leona to their limits. Thunderbolts crackled from its claws, tearing through Bastian's flesh, and massive rocks descended from the sky, threatening to crush them to death.

In the face of these perilous attacks, the couple fought in perfect synchronization. Bastian skillfully dodged the falling rocks, benefiting from Leona's protective buffs, while Leona used her magical abilities to heal the burns inflicted by the lightning element on Bastian's back.

After an entire day of relentless running, Bastian's stamina waned, and his vision grew hazy. Sensing the urgency, Leona created a large pit in the ground, burying both herself and Bastian within it. However, the cunning Sky-Hunter activated a spell, summoning a torrential deluge that eroded the soil above them.

Leona was left with no choice but to chant tirelessly, fortifying the ground to withstand the onslaught. Days passed, and the assaults from the Sky-Hunter ceased, bringing a sigh of relief to Leona and Bastian. cautiously peeking out from their earthen refuge, they discovered themselves in an unfamiliar forest, devoid of any signs of the Sky-Hunter's presence.

Emerging from the hole, they were immediately confronted by a pack of ravenous Dire Wolves and Husk Wolves, their mouths salivating in anticipation of a meal. Exhausted and weakened, Leona could no longer muster her full power, leaving Bastian to cast a spell and create a protective cave.

The existence of this cave proved invaluable, as it allowed Bastian to face the beasts one by one, reducing the overwhelming odds.

With Leona providing what assistance she could in tending to Bastian's wounds, he fought ferociously, slaughtering each of the beasts that dared to challenge him. However, amidst the battle, Bastian caught sight of an even more terrifying creature soaring through the air. Seeking refuge, he concealed himself within a cave, praying that the monstrous creature remained unaware of his presence.

From that point on, their journey to find a way back to human territory became arduous. Bastian scouted and searched tirelessly for an escape route, while Leona defended their temporary abode. The artificial nature of their current cave home became apparent, with its lower section constructed from wood, while the ceiling retained its natural rocky structure.
