The Most Satisfied Reincarnate

Chapter 119: Only One Night

Simultaneously, the faint sound of approaching footsteps reached the elf's ears. She turned her gaze towards the entrance of the ritual room, spotting a small sphere in the distance. Her eyes darted between the orb and the Demon child before making a decision.

"World Seal!" she declared, extending her hand towards the door of the ritual room. In response, a gigantic tree root emerged, covering the entrance and sealing off the room.

...

In the present time, Desmond stood before the entrance of the room, having successfully destroyed the first layer of the barrier. His eyes fixed on the female elf as he spoke, a hint of admiration in his voice. "That's impressive, Miss Elf. To endure such conditions is truly remarkable." Desmond paused briefly before continuing, "But..."

Raising his right hand, Desmond made a swift, forceful motion, akin to wielding a sword, resulting in a resounding noise.

*Swoosh* A crack-like sound echoed through the tree root, growing in intensity. The female elf, on the other side, couldn't comprehend Desmond's actions, but she couldn't shake off the sense of foreboding that washed over her.

Just as the cracking sounds reached their crescendo, they abruptly ceased.

*Boom* In the final moment, the elf widened her eyes, a look of shock etched upon her face. The root's bark crumbled away, revealing an empty space within—a discarded turtle shell. Following that, the tree roots crumbled under the crushing force.

The impact of the collapsing roots affected the female elf, who was closest to them. She felt her surroundings spin, and drowsiness swiftly overcame her.

"Damn... Perhaps I was too harsh," Desmond muttered remorsefully. But before the elf succumbed to unconsciousness, she witnessed the figure of a boy approaching her with a chilling smile, causing a cold sweat to break out on her skin.

Meanwhile, Desmond, having entered the ritual room, surveyed the chaotic scene within. "What a mess..." The room appeared on the brink of collapse, and the bookshelves lay in ruins.

In that moment, Desmond noticed a weakened demon, whom he had abducted as a ritual material, lying near the shattered bookshelf.

"Actually, I didn't intend to kill this demon. However, he had witnessed the entirety of this ritual from the beginning, leaving me with no other choice," Desmond muttered, his voice tinged with regret. He approached the demon, the sound of creaking accompanying his steps as he accidentally stepped on upright roots, momentarily startling him. "It gave me a fright.

I thought there might be another trap in this room." Desmond continued onward until he stood before the demon's motionless body.

"Well, it seems I don't need to do that," Desmond remarked as he observed the demon's pale complexion, resembling a skull draped with skin. The demon's form seemed to wither, revealing the bones of his skull, and his chest appeared motionless as if he weren't breathing. The demon lay on the floor, facing upward, with bulging eyes and a wide-open mouth.

"Creepy, but just to be safe," Desmond muttered. "System, check the condition of this demon."

Desmond sighed. "I mean, scan whether he's alive or not." The system's response dashed Desmond's hopes.

[ERROR | Reason: Insufficient Information]

"Even the system isn't always overpowered like in most novels." With no other option, Desmond reluctantly squatted down and extended his left hand, activating the spell embedded within his palm.

A swirling wind gathered in Desmond's left hand, its vortex growing increasingly violent until it coalesced into a small blade that floated in the air. Desmond controlled the blade and scanned the demon's entire body.

*Swoosh* The small blade sliced through the air, followed by a precise thrust into the boy demon's chest. "If I'm not mistaken, that should be the heart," Desmond mused, sensing that the ethereal nature of the wind blade prevented it from penetrating anything solid. He then manipulated the small blade, retracting it from the boy's chest.

As the blade was pulled away, a small hole appeared in the demon's chest. Within seconds, the demon, who had appeared unconscious until that moment, suddenly let out a hoarse cry. Desmond, taken aback, instinctively stepped back, his gaze fixed on the demon as it stood up, staring at him like a motionless beast.

"I see, my hunch was correct. I almost overlooked this demon," Desmond remarked. He activated a spell on his right hand, causing a rumbling sound to emanate from beneath his feet, coinciding with the demon's growing roar. However, a pillar suddenly emerged from the ground, impaling the demon's heart.

"ROAR!" The demon let out an even louder scream, futilely attempting to claw at the pillar and crush it. But despite its efforts, its strength gradually waned, and it eventually ceased its struggle, its eyes now lifeless.

Desmond observed the demon expressionlessly. "There doesn't seem to be any significant change in this demon." He had intended to slowly kill the demon by piercing its heart, but even when its heart was impaled, the demon could still move and scream.

After a few seconds, Desmond dispelled his spell, causing the demon to collapse to the ground. He glanced at the intact and perfect pentagram on the floor. "This magic is impressive. Even when the room is destroyed, the pentagram remains unharmed." He instructed the system to record the pentagram before using a spell to destroy its foundation, obliterating the formation.

"Everything is clean, except..." Desmond shifted his gaze to the female elf lying on the floor. She wore the same slave clothes from the auction, now torn, exposing her bosom and fair thighs. "It would be a shame to kill her and waste my 5,000 gold coins." Although she had witnessed the entire ritual, which posed a danger, he felt it would be a pity to dispose of her so abruptly.

In that moment, he recalled the existence of spells that could erase memories, such as those possessed by Annie or Laura. "If I remember correctly, Annie or Laura have memory-erasing spells," Desmond muttered. "Well, at the very least, I should destroy this place first."

Desmond then grabbed the elf's hand and dragged her out of the room. He checked his status.

"Seems like enough to erase any traces," Desmond concluded. He stood in front of the ritual room's door and spread his hands wide.

Desmond closed the elf's eyes and proceeded to seal the ritual room by causing the ground inside to rise until it reached the room's ceiling, effectively blocking the entrance. Satisfied with his work, Desmond intended to approach the elf but stumbled momentarily, walking unsteadily as if he were intoxicated.

"Oops, almost fell... The remaining energy is a bit low, but it should be enough," Desmond muttered to himself, stabilizing his posture. From the outside, his gait appeared erratic, resembling that of a drunk person. He then sent a magic message to Laura, who was waiting outside the underground.

Meanwhile, Laura sat on the grass, idly playing with her hair. She wondered why Desmond was taking such a long time underground. It had been two hours since he entered, and her curiosity got the better of her. Pushing aside the bushes that concealed the entrance, she revealed a large hidden door. Laura's eyes widened in astonishment.

"How did young master manage to hide such a massive door from all the maids? And it's strange that no maids ever came here..." Laura paused for a moment, recalling that Desmond had explicitly ordered that no maids were allowed in the backyard where the entrance was located. Her curiosity piqued, Laura chuckled mischievously. "I wonder if I'll get punished just for taking a peek inside."

Her hand instinctively reached for the door handle and turned it. As the door clicked open, Laura's eyes gleamed with excitement, and her breathing became heavy. She was about to sneak a peek inside when she heard a voice in her mind.

"Laura, come into the underground and help me..."

Startled, Laura leaped back as if she had been startled by water. "I'm sorry, young master! I'm sorry, young master!" She repeatedly bowed her head in front of the open door, her face flushed with embarrassment.

"Oh no, young master found me. I'm definitely going to be punished..." Laura thought anxiously, keeping her head lowered in shame.
