Chapter 28: The Father-in-Law Arrives
Facing Song Keren's punch coming straight at him, Xiao Feng didn't turn and run like before; instead, he raised his arm to counter it.
"Bang!"
After a dull thud, Xiao Feng steadily caught Song Keren's fist and said with a smile, "Stop showing off these so-called flowery moves; it means nothing."
"How dare you call my moves flowery?" Song Keren said angrily. She had been practicing military boxing since she was eight, followed by taekwondo and sanda, and she couldn't stand this insult.
With a sharp shout, Song Keren tried to free her fist from Xiao Feng's grasp, only to be surprised that no matter how many times she tried, she couldn't do it. It felt like her fist was clamped by iron pliers.
After half a minute of stalemate, Song Keren finally realized that, in terms of sheer strength, she was likely no match for him.
This was a natural gap. Although through hard work, Song Keren's strength surpassed most ordinary men, this gap was quickly evident when she met a trained martial artist.
Nevertheless, admitting defeat was out of the question. The word "defeat" had never existed in Song Keren's dictionary from an early age.
The next moment, she gritted her teeth and used all her strength to pull back, only to find herself easily free but uncontrollably falling backward due to her excessive force.
"Ah!" Song Keren exclaimed in surprise, falling back onto the asphalt road.
Xiao Feng laughed at once: "Still won't admit your moves are flowery, huh? It's all written on your face; no wonder you lose."
After a pause, he added, "Judging by your skills, you have a solid foundation. If you acknowledge me as your teacher, I might consider giving you some proper training."
Faced with such blatant mockery, Song Keren blushed and quickly got up, shouting angrily, "In your dreams!"
With that, she launched another attack on Xiao Feng, seemingly determined to fight till the end.
Xiao Feng shook his head, deciding not to entangle any further. Just as Song Keren was about to crash into him, he moved a step to the left at an incredible speed.
As Song Keren missed her target, a trace of surprise flashed in her eyes. Before she could change her attack stance, she felt a light bump on her back.
With just that light bump, Song Keren lost her balance, falling straight forward, her expression becoming panicked. If she truly fell like this, she would definitely injure herself.
In her panic, she felt an arm under her, steadily catching her, restoring her to an upright position.
"Don't be so impulsive in the future. When you really meet someone stronger, with your thin arms and legs, you'd be broken instantly."
The voice reached her ears, snapping Song Keren back to reality from her stupor, only to see Xiao Feng's silhouette already walking far away.
This person, to have such good skills?!
Wait a minute!
Song Keren suddenly recalled something. When that bastard caught her just now, he actually touched her chest!
"Don't let me see you again!"
Song Keren roared with anger, her face red, but Xiao Feng's departing figure replayed in her mind repeatedly.
...
When Xiao Feng circled back to Villa No. 9, he found Jiang Yixin alone in the living room.
She looked as if she had just taken a shower, her hair draped over her shoulders, lying on the sofa, munching on snacks with full attention on the TV drama.
Noticing her smooth legs exposed and her fair feet, Xiao Feng felt a sense of wonder. Without Qingyue to compare, she too was a seductress.
"Where's Qingyue?" Xiao Feng asked.
"She's busy with drafting meeting agendas, a busy person as always," Jiang Yixin replied without looking back. "You came back just in time. When the delivery arrives, help pick it up."
Xiao Feng was immediately displeased: "Who are you ordering around? Don't forget that after I marry Qingyue, this house is half mine. Don't provoke me, or I'll kick you out."
"You really dare say that," Jiang Yixin retorted, equally displeased. "Half the house is yours? Did you spend a penny on it?"
Xiao Feng pondered for a moment and asked, "If I can get half the property rights without spending a penny, why would I spend money?"
"..." Jiang Yixin was dumbfounded, momentarily at a loss for words.
At this moment, the doorbell rang.
"Ding dong, ding dong, ding dong."
Ringing over and over, it seemed very urgent.
However, neither Xiao Feng nor Jiang Yixin thought much of it. After all, today's delivery service valued efficiency, paying per order, so it was natural to be in a hurry.
Jiang Yixin glanced at Xiao Feng, who showed no intention of getting the door, sighed, and reluctantly got up to answer it. However, when she returned, her expression was noticeably tense.
Seeing Jiang Yixin empty-handed, Xiao Feng asked, "Where's the delivery? Did you fumble and drop it?"
Just as he spoke, a middle-aged man with a dark expression stormed in, loudly demanding as he entered, "Where's Qingyue? Get her out here."
"Uncle, Director Du is preparing meeting agendas. Please have a seat and drink some water first," Jiang Yixin explained somewhat nervously while frantically signaling to Xiao Feng.
But Xiao Feng seemed oblivious, continuing to sit comfortably on the sofa, not even bothering to greet the newcomer.
From Jiang Yixin's words and attitude, Xiao Feng could easily infer that the grim-faced middle-aged man was Qingyue's father, though this future father-in-law's demeanor left Xiao Feng highly displeased.
And Xiao Feng's guess wasn't wrong—the man was indeed Qingyue's father, Du Zhixiang.
A moment later, Du Zhixiang finally spoke up, "Prepare agendas my ass, what could be more important than seeing her father? Tell her to get her ass down here."
Even up to this point, Du Zhixiang showed no intention of acknowledging Xiao Feng, and Xiao Feng didn't mind. He had no interest in meddling in someone else's family matters.
Just then, footsteps sounded from the staircase as Du Qingyue descended with a frown. Upon seeing Du Zhixiang, she wasted no words, coldly asking, "What do you want?"
"What do I want?!" Du Zhixiang exploded in anger. "I heard you're getting married?"
"That's right."
"Did I give my approval?"
"Do I need your approval on whom I choose to marry?"
As the atmosphere in the living room grew tense, Jiang Yixin set down her water glass and walked over to Xiao Feng, tugging on his sleeve and whispering, "We can't get involved in this; let's stay out of it for now."
Xiao Feng thought for a moment and agreed, rising from the sofa.
But just as he stood up, Du Zhixiang's gaze snapped to him: "Bringing a wild man home again. How did I end up with such a shameless daughter?"
Xiao Feng paused in his tracks. He hadn't wanted to get involved initially, but it was clear now that walking away unscathed was not an option.
