The Lost Shadow War

Chapter 7: “Falling to the Shadows”

Confronting the Shadow Priest

Ziyan, Samir, and Layan stand at the Gate of Shadows, where Raghib's guard, led by the enigmatic Shadow Priest, awaits. He is cloaked in a dense aura of shadows.

Shadow Priest (in a low, menacing voice): "You will not pass through to the Throne of Shadows. This gate will be your end."

Ziyan (firmly): "We've overcome the darkness before. You're just another obstacle we'll surpass."

• The battle begins, with the Shadow Priest unleashing powerful magic that engulfs the field in dark energy.

• Ziyan attempts to confront the priest head-on but is quickly exhausted by his overwhelming power.

• Layan uses her speed to attack but is forcefully repelled by coiling shadows.

• Samir relies on ranged attacks, but his arm is injured by a sudden shadowy explosion.

Samir (sarcastically, despite the pain): "This guy takes his job way too seriously."

Ziyan (breathless): "This is no time for jokes, Samir. We need to work together."

After a fierce battle, Ziyan suffers a deep wound in his shoulder from the Shadow Priest's blade of darkness.

Shadow Priest (mockingly): "The light you rely on is but a flicker. Soon, the shadows will consume you."

Layan (shouting): "We won't give up!"

• The team barely manages to retreat when Samir uses a weapon he had crafted earlier to detonate a barrier of energy, allowing them to escape.

• They return to the Maramid camp, battered and exhausted.

At the Maramid Camp

At the camp, medics treat the heroes' wounds, while tension brews among the soldiers.

Soldier 1 (whispering): "If even Ziyan got injured, how can we face Raghib?"

Soldier 2: "But you can't deny his bravery. He fights as if his soul is on fire."

Soldier 3: "And Samir? Despite his injury, he saved everyone. Maybe he's the real hero here."

Soldier 4 (laughing): "Samir? That guy loves joking more than fighting."

Despite their injuries, Ziyan insists on starting new training sessions to improve their skills and strategies.

Ziyan (determined): "Raghib is stronger than we expected. If we want to continue this journey, we must become stronger."

• Ziyan trains himself to wield dual weapons to handle opponents like the Shadow Priest.

• Layan works on enhancing her reflexes to avoid being trapped by shadows.

• Samir develops new tools to counter magic, though he continues to joke.

Samir (while working): "If I invent a device to end this war quickly, will I get a vacation?"

Layan (smiling): "Or maybe we'll just make you work on tools forever."

The team is joined by Mutaaz, an experienced soldier from the camp, who provides valuable insights into the weaknesses of the shadow forces.

Mutaaz: "The shadows aren't without weaknesses. If you know how they work, you can break them."

• Mutaaz shares his knowledge with the team, showing great respect for them despite their injuries.

Having partially recovered their strength, the team decides to head toward the mountains to face a new challenge.

Ziyan (resolutely): "Nothing will stop us from confronting Raghib. The darkness may weaken us, but it will not defeat us."

Samir (smirking): "Just don't forget to let me pick the next battleground. Shadows don't suit my look."
