The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 202: The Hero and the Demon King's Joint Visit_4

Edward smiled warmly, not neglecting the enthusiasm of the common people. He waved at the crowd and motioned for a devout Saint Sis believer to come to his carriage.

The middle-aged man was flattered, carefully squeezing through the crowd to kneel beside the carriage on one knee and pay his respects.

"Venerated Duke, thank you for everything you have done for us!"

"Please stand up," Edward said while looking at him gently, "and tell me, how is your life lately? Has it improved?"

"Of course, compared to Twilight Province, this place is like Heaven..." The middle-aged man said excitedly, recounting truthfully the events that had occurred during this time.

Listening to his recount of genuine experiences, many people nearby who recently ended a life of wandering were touched, with some even shedding tears.

Initially, Edward listened quite contently, until Erin Campbell's name started to occupy more and more of the conversation from this peasant's mouth.

"...Had it not been for your sister, my child might have starved to death in the cold wind. Thanks to the venerated Lord Saint Sis, surely a divine oracle was delivered to send this angel to us."

This sentence was probably the straw that broke the camel's back, and the fellow who spoke it hadn't realized his slip of the tongue.

Having just become a citizen of the Campbell Duchy, he might not even know about the Light of Praise, and invoking a divine oracle was undoubtedly the most reckless interpretation.

Seeing the man who did not understand the subtleties of his words still speaking foolishly, the sharp-eyed Mayor Luxius quickly stepped in to play the villain, pulling the fellow aside.

"That's enough, don't you realize that you might keep the esteemed Your Majesty standing in the cold until evening? Show some gratitude! Make way quickly!"

Watching Mayor Luxius roughly pull away the servant, Edward smiled internally but maintained a stern expression.

"Please don't blame him, Mr. Luxius, he meant no harm, and I don't mind if he talks a bit more about my sister."

The man who was pulled aside looked dissatisfied but dared not offend the mayor. However, upon hearing that Your Majesty spoke on his behalf, he became a bit more assertive, glaring at the mayor holding him.

"Yes, I meant no harm! I just wanted to show His Majesty how much we respect him... Why will you stop me from doing so?"

The surrounding crowd let out boos, directing their displeasure at Mayor Luxius, as if they were watching a clown.

This fool!

How dare he ask why!

Listening to the boos and ridicule directed at himself, Luxius cursed inwardly but forced a smile on his face.

At least Your Majesty understood his good intentions; otherwise, he would not have addressed him by his surname.

Governor Wilson wiped the sweat from his forehead and signaled to the guards around him to clear the path in front of the carriage.

The brighter Your Majesty's smile became, the more frightened he was. Thank heavens Luxius gave him a moment to put on a stern face.

Even though the Governor's Mansion, representing royal authority, and the City Hall, representing the citizens, always clashed, he had to admit Luxius did the right thing.

Not wanting to continue on this topic, Edward looked at his favorite servant, Yang Andes, who hadn't spoken.

"Where is Roxey Colin? I've long wanted to talk to him, where is he now?"

The deeds of the Colin family had spread even to the neighboring Duke Domain. At least half of his visit to Thunder City was to see that mysterious Imperial noble.

Hearing Your Majesty's inquiry, Andes hesitated for a few seconds but finally replied honestly.

"He went to the Silver Pine Forest area on your sister's invitation..."

Although he knew that Your Majesty did not want to hear about that person right now, he very much wanted to avoid any misunderstanding that he was protecting Erin Campbell, which was beneficial to no one.

Neither of them is here.

Edward was annoyed but ultimately said nothing.

He couldn't abandon his duke's dignity and chase after them.

Feigning indifference, Edward shifted his gaze.

"Well, then we'll talk when they return."
