The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 176 Greenhouse Cultivation_3

After finishing all these tasks, they finally placed the newly crafted petri dishes into several branching tunnels and entrusted the Dark Night Elf Mage to perform the spell for Catalytic Growth.

As the Dark Night Elf chanted the spell, a faint emerald-green light emitted from the tip of her wand, silently nourishing the contents of each petri dish.

Some of these petri dishes contained soil mixed with fertilizer, while others were filled with nutrient solutions prepared according to online tutorials.

To the surprise of everyone, as time passed, they could clearly observe that the tomato vines grown via hydroponics exhibited noticeably faster root growth compared to those grown in soil under the effect of the Catalytic Growth spell!

The rapidly growing vines hadn't even flowered yet, but the roots soaking in the nutrient solution had already grown to the size of an adult's palm!

Witnessing this incredible scene, the Dark Night Elf who was responsible for casting spells couldn't help but gain a bit more confidence.

Soon, it was time for the pollination phase.

The Dark Night Elf stopped casting spells.

A group of skeleton soldiers eagerly jumped into the branching tunnels to sprinkle the prepared pollen on the small flowers blooming on the tomato vines.

After completing this process, the Dark Night Elf once again raised her magic wand, chanting a spell to release a radiant green glow, pushing the tomato vines into the next stage of their lifecycle.

Something unbelievable occurred!

Within one of the tunnels, the tomato vines, climbing all over the scaffolding, suddenly bore plump and ripe fruits!

These were the tomatoes cultivated using the nutrient solution!

The Dark Night Elf responsible for casting spells widened her eyes in disbelief at the scene unfolding before her.

At first, she thought growing tomatoes underwater was absurd, but who would've guessed these undead actually pulled it off!

"Unbelievable..." she muttered softly, her eyes filled with shock.

The skeleton soldiers beside her were so excited that they started clapping their bony hands together in celebration.

But they quickly calmed down and resumed preparing the next set of experiments without a moment's rest.

Watching these ever-busy skeletons, the Dark Night Elf's face revealed a confused expression.

"Isn't this result good enough?"

In her view, being able to use the Catalytic Growth spell to turn tomato seeds into fully-grown tomatoes was already an impressive feat.

These newly sprouted crops obviously lacked souls and developed root systems. With their current research results, even their ancestor Gray Wind would probably marvel at their progress.

[Beast Senior] chuckled at her comment and said without hesitation.

"This is just the beginning! The experiment has only just started. Next, we plan to adjust the CO2 concentration to find the optimal air ratio!"

"CO2? Concentration? Air ratio?" The Dark Night Elf stared at him in bewilderment, entirely confused.

[Beast Senior] promptly explained it in simpler terms.

"To put it simply, we need to figure out how much coal to burn for each tunnel! Right now, cultivating healthy fruit is no longer a problem, but it's still not perfect! We want to ensure the crops we grow thrive under the best conditions, producing larger and sweeter vegetables!"

Once he pinpoints the ideal air ratio, he could replicate the process by setting up several more tunnels near Beifeng Mountain.

After all, the cost of using Earth Cave Spiders to dig tunnels is very low. As long as the mountain doesn't collapse, it's essentially a cost-free venture!

By then, he could excavate hundreds of greenhouse tunnels, all employing hydroponics and Demon Crystal lighting technology, and hire ten or so Dark Night Elf Mages to help accelerate crop growth.

At that point, not only could he monopolize Beifeng City's agricultural market, but reverse-exporting to neighboring Thunder City wouldn't just be a dream either!

Becoming a farming tycoon was within reach!

Seeing the skeleton soldiers grinning from ear to ear, the Dark Night Elf couldn't understand their terminology but still felt moved by their relentless pursuit of scientific exploration.

Amazingly, despite being undead themselves, they possessed such intense passion for unraveling the mysteries of life!

What a blazing soul!

Her gaze softened, and she responded with unprecedented sincerity, saying.

"Although I don't fully understand the experiments you're conducting, I believe you must have your plans... If there's anything you need, feel free to ask me. I will accompany you till the very end!"

[Beast Senior] was unexpectedly touched by her sentiment and was about to reach out and grasp the NPC's delicate hand.

However, before he could extend his hand, [Legendary Liver King] swallowed hard and interrupted with an ill-timed comment.

"Anything they need, huh?"

The Dark Night Elf paused, not comprehending the implications of his words, only to see another skeleton soldier slap that guy on the head.

"Pervert, pervert, you're always thinking about indecent stuff! Can't you focus on proper matters!"

[Legendary Liver King]: "Exactly! Don't drag us into your mess if you're dying!"

[Legendary Dry King]: "Dammit! Who said anything about that? Can't it be for the sake of science??"

[Thankless Thick Rice]: "Pfft! Don't I know you inside and out!"

"What are you talking about..."

Just as the Dark Night Elf was about to speak, she suddenly felt her vision spin, her body heavy as if filled with lead.

Soon after, she rolled her eyes and fell unconscious onto the ground.

The surrounding skeleton soldiers, startled by the NPC's sudden collapse, immediately ceased arguing.

"Damn! Is this CO2 poisoning!?"

"No, not necessarily. It could be carbon monoxide..."

"Quick! Artificial respiration!"

"Respiration my ass! You're a skeleton soldier—do you even have lungs? Hurry up and carry her out!"

Among the chaotic skeletons, it was [Beast Senior] who reacted the quickest, hoisting the unconscious NPC onto his shoulder and sprinting towards the cave exit.

If a Dark Night Elf died, his dream of expanding Beast Farm into a strong and prosperous enterprise would be completely doomed!

Speaking of which, who would've thought a Bronze Level mage could faint due to lack of oxygen...

Is this game for real!?
