The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 547: Battle of the Source (Part 3)

Heigao'er was the previous Master of Dreams, who declined at the brink of fiery demise, and perished in the secret chamber of the Starry Kingdom.

When Rod first acquired the realm of dreams, his frenzied soul was attacking the Obelisk.

Later, during an assault on Rod, he was killed by the auto-activated Divine Blade.

At that time, his soul had lost most of its strength, yet when Rod sent it into the first star of the dream realm, the "Dark Devourer," it still enhanced the star to its highest state before quantification.

For some unknown reason, the soul strength granted was too little, far from matching the rank of the "Dark Devourer."

Regardless, Heigao'er is dead, his soul cast into the star.

"Why does it appear on the tombstone at this moment?"

Rod suppressed the terror in his heart, looking at the name above. Normally understood, each scratch is the name of a Master of Dreams.

The current Master of Dreams is at the bottom, with red text marking him as still alive.

Heigao'er is above him, his name in black, indicating his death.

Rod counted, judging by normal size distances, at least five more Masters of Dreams were above.

"So, there are seven masters of the dream realm in total?"

Rod thought to himself.

"Am I the seventh?"

He pondered, reaching out to gently touch the black name.

In the next instant, a sharp screech sounded, and a gigantic black hand burst forth from the ground, seizing his wrist tightly.

Rod was startled, jerking back his hand, but it did not budge.

Black air surged from the tombstone, Heigao'er's name emitted an eerie black light, screams emerged from beneath the grave, echoing in the dream realm.

A charred face appeared before Rod, with a blackened nose, twisted flesh, and hollow eye sockets that bizarrely expressed a strong hatred.

It climbed up from under the tombstone, a charred corpse with distorted limbs, clearly broken, a neck long since snapped, and a back split open, revealing fractured vertebrae and tangled intestines.

"Return my life!"

A sharp roar tore from the shattered throat, it was not a human voice.

"Return everything to me!"

The charred black hand clamped around Rod's neck, pressing him down.

Rod felt his will being heavily struck, a cold sensation spreading from his heart to his limbs, his soul unbearably heavy, submerged by the tide.

Neither Spiritual Energy nor the Star responded to him.

At that moment, he was almost a powerless ordinary person.

"Am I going to die?"

Rod's consciousness began to blur, darkness engulfing his spirit, a terrifying shadow covering the sky.

Memories of the past flashed before his eyes like a revolving lantern, he saw his past, those countless familiar yet strange faces.

They floated past Rod, but ultimately lingering in Rod's sight was Mephit!

"What? Why is it you?"

Mephit's expression was calm, she was smiling, yet seemingly crying.

A strong passion suddenly surged within Rod, a desire for life instantly filled his heart, he fiercely fought back, breaking through the darkness, sweeping away shadows with a heavy punch, striking the charred corpse.

"I don't want to die!"

Rod's emotions surged, he shouted hoarsely.

He suddenly stood up, fighting the charred corpse, although lacking Spiritual Energy, his control techniques applied at any time.

In close combat, he even gained the upper hand, knocking the charred corpse to the ground, violently pounding its head.

"I don't want to die!"

He shouted.

"Trolian is waiting for me!"

"Humanity is waiting for me!"

"My sisters are waiting for me!"

"They're all waiting for me!"

With each heavy strike, the charred corpse shattered, a wisp of shadow emerged, fiercely roaring:

"Why? Why can you?"

"No, no, a millennium's plan... just destroyed like this?"

"Impossible, this is impossible... ahhhhh!"

Amidst the screams, the shadow dissipated.
