The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 517: The Only Hope and the Initial Fire

Horus's voice echoed throughout the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground, like thunder vibrating in Rod's eardrums.

Suddenly, he had a thought, perhaps the Dream Realm exists to create the True King.

However, this idea was not certain.

From the layout of the Dream Realm, it seems to be out of the regular system.

Suddenly, Rod realized another issue.

"Archbishop, in the era of strong fire, there should have been a True King, right?"

Horus nodded slightly.

Rod continued, "But they ultimately perished... Moreover, in the epoch when gods were active, weren't there more divine beings comparable to the True King? Weren't they also falling one after another under the erosion of the Black Fog?"

Horus's dry skin twitched, and Rod barely discerned a smile.

"If you had asked me in the past, I would have told you that even if one cannot shatter the darkness and create a Bright World without Black Fog, a True King can at least safeguard one region, lead the rise of Trolian, allowing humans to flourish in this remote land, thus, in the future, there might be hope."

"But now, I can directly answer, there is a great possibility."

Rod asked in surprise, "Why?"

Horus turned and looked at the Holy Fire.

The golden flames occupied all their visions.

The Archbishop did not immediately answer his question but instead said,

"During the formulation of the Holy Fire plan, we had wondered whether two Holy Fire Seeds could be combined, whether they would repel each other, causing the Holy Fire to be even more turbulent and collapse?"

"At that time, the King told us that such a thing would not happen."

"Even if the Holy Fire Seeds cannot simultaneously become the core of the Holy Fire, their powers can support each other, sustaining the precarious Holy Fire."

"The facts proved that the King was wrong."

Rod was shocked, "The King was wrong?"

Horus's skin twitched again, muddy yellow eyes brighter than ever before.

"Indeed, the Holy Fire Seeds did not simultaneously become the core of the Holy Fire, nor supported each other, but through a special resonance, they formed a new core together."

"The King told us, the structure of the Holy Fire underwent unimaginable changes, the original core turned into a strange tree-like array, in which two Holy Fire Seeds were embedded, like one entity."

"And within this array, there are more eyes."

Rod's heart trembled.

"You mean?"

Horus nodded, his dry skin unfolding layer by layer, like an orange peel coming to life.

"Yes, just as you thought, we believe this may be the true structure of the Holy Fire."

"These empty eyes can still be filled with more Holy Fire Seeds."

"Its structure was originally like this, not a single Holy Fire Seed igniting one Holy Fire, but multiple Holy Fire Seeds collectively maintaining the existence of the Holy Fire."

The King came over, his golden eyes also burning with dazzling light.

"We have reason to believe that when we fill all the eyes in the tree-like array, the legendary Initial Fire will ignite in Trolian!"

Rod widened his eyes.

"Initial Fire? I remember it was just an unverified legend..."

The King smiled and said, "We thought so too in the past, besides some ancient rumors, there was no evidence to prove its existence, but now, we have reason to believe it's true."

Horus nodded and then said,

"We believe that in a certain period of the early Second Epoch, the Black Fog emerged, gods fell, the world quickly eroded, sinking into the Abyss of darkness, until the Initial Fire was lit."

"We once found a broken slab from the Second Epoch, inscribed with:

'We have once again achieved victory—in the sky, on the earth, in the desert, in the desolate wilderness, in the endless sea, the light of the fire shone to the ends of the world, that twisted horror no longer exists, this prolonged dark turmoil finally ended.'

If the description on the slab was not wrong, then in some period of the Second Epoch, humans and gods must have achieved unprecedented great victory, and they once believed the Black Fog was completely eliminated."

Rod was deeply drawn by the Archbishop's words and couldn't help but ask, "And then?"

Horus said solemnly, "The subsequent history we cannot study, have not found any relics or remnants matching the timeline, according to our historians' restoration, that period of history seems to have been obliterated, many years later, the times leaped to the Third Epoch, the Fire Epoch."

"As for the fate of the Initial Fire, we do not know, only that from the Fire Epoch onwards, the divine no longer exist, giants, elves, fairies, and giant dragons disappeared from the earth, humans became the only intelligent beings, known as low entropy beings, living accustomed to the fire's protection, towns burning with Guardian Fire are everywhere."

"The epoch of gods thus ended, the epoch of humans hereby began, centered on Holy Fire and Guardian Fire, an epic and heroic battle unfolded on the canvas, for a thousand years, countless human heroes surged forward, all to guard the light in their hearts, their hot blood spilled over the land, the roars of their souls echoed between heaven and earth, but ultimately still couldn't stop the erosion of the Black Fog, humans marched toward destruction."
