Chapter 93: Attack on Night III
At this time the Battle hall member and the logistic member of the clan were running at a fast speed distributing a small pouch. They gave the pouch to every clan member standing there with a weapon. The Battle hall members had previously tallied general data about the fighting members of the clan.
Since they were familiar with the members that went to the outpost, they had put healing pills, temporary attribute boosting pills, and talismans on every sack. Aside from that they had taken weapons out of the treasury and were ready to relay them from the first bang sound. They had meticulously prepared for this event for two days.
Most of the Battle hall members that had returned later were placed on the nodes of arrays and the remaining were handling logistics with the clan members. After giving weapons and sacks to the clan members, they took off and went to support the array nodes. Before the complete collapse of the mountain protection formation, they were to protect the nodes and provide help to the other Battle hall members there if necessary.
This was the order given by Punya the previous night. Although he had not anticipated the clans to attack so soon, he had made some contingencies in case of emergency. It looked like the plan worked out. After the clan members got the sack they looked inside and saw clearly marked pills and talismans.
The weapons provided for them seemed to boost their confidence. With these things, even if they couldn’t defeat the enemies, they could at least harm them. The formation was rippling crazily and the tense clan members relaxed somewhat when they held the weapons and talismans. Some of the clan members were glad their children had been sent away with the fifth elder. Even though they didn’t know where the fifth elder took them, they chose to believe they were safer than they would be in the clan right now. Keshab looked at the rippling array and knew that someone had tampered with it from the inside.
There was no way the recovery would be so slow after re-engraving. The clan members on the ground were in chaos and there were a lot of elders and deacons just emerging from their residences. Even now there were few who had not arrived. ‘Maybe they had gone to different places as there were many cultivators surrounding the clan’, Keshab thought. He once again expanded his divine sense. Although his divine sense couldn’t scout the whole of the clan to the tiny details, he could somehow infer who the people were by their aura. After scouring the clan, he didn’t find anything out of the ordinary.
This alerted him a little. If the perpetrator can hide from his divine sense, then it would mean this was the work of the high-level mole they had been searching for all this time. Keshab didn’t waste his soul power on the mole because at battle even a little bit will count. He looked at the cultivators attacking the formation crazily and the ripped space getting bigger and bigger as the time went. He was still searching for the one who threw the talismans but it seemed like he could avoid his divine sense pretty easily. Since the mole sabotaged the formation a little, Keshab thought for a while and looked at the frenzied cultivators attacking the formation.
He smirked and released a few materials from his space ring, he moved his hands and made some obscure finger symbols. The materials soon turned into light and flew towards the node where he felt like it was weak. Surprisingly, the tear in the veil began to close up rapidly. Keshab could do this because he had made his own modifications on the mountain protecting array. He couldn’t fix the sabotaged array nodes just by waving his hand and using some materials but what he had done was just reinforce the array for a short time.
The materials he had used will work as a new node temporarily. This quick fix would only remain for two or three hours and the materials he had used were expensive but since what the clan needed now was time, he didn’t hesitate. He was becoming extra careful and monitoring the array nodes so that he may be able to catch the mole this time. Seeing the tear on the veil close, the clan members once again started cheering whereas the expression of the cultivators outside changed.
They had given their all to destroy the mountain protecting formation and had even torn a hole but in the blink of an eye, it was closing rapidly. They were going crazy especially when they heard the Rijal clan members started insulting them again. At first, it was okay they were only insulting the cultivators but as time went they moved to their parents, children, grandparents, and even their ancestors.
Even the chickens and other pets were not left behind. The clan members were getting creative with each turn. They even had the audacity to demand compensation for ruining their eyes when a Visigoth clan elder got drunk and danced. It was just the beginning. They were insinuating about bestiality from their ancestors which was the result of the ugly faces in the two clans. Even among the hybrids, they were the useless ones. They were neither pretty nor strong. The insults just kept becoming brutal.
Some of the members of the two clans were on the verge of tears. Keshab had to close his ears after some time. He didn’t know his clan members were this vicious. At one point the war started to become verbal. Keshab and Amrit found it to be comedic. Here they were fighting for their life and suddenly there was a war of words. Even more funnier was that the other two clans stopped attacking the formation and started the battle of words.
The foreign helpers invited by those clans were laughing under their hoods. Although there was no sound, their shoulders were shaking from time to time. Amrit found it baffling how the usually well-behaved members of the clan could turn into depraved maniacs in an instant. Some of the members were even quoting the classics written by the scholars when insulting. ‘It’s a pity that the fifth elder was not here otherwise we could have heard some pretty good insults’ Keshab and Amrit thought about this at the same time.
Even they had forgotten a serious war was going on right now. The situation was getting out of hand. Well, the Rijal clan may not survive this assault but they had definitely won in verbal war. At that moment the one hidden in the dark couldn’t hold on any longer and spoke loudly ‘Enough’. The battle of words instantly came to an end. He again yelled ‘Now’. Keshab’s expression changed.
