The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 92: Attack on Night II

The pupils of Keshab dilated. Although the golden light had appeared abruptly, he barely managed to catch a glimpse. This was not possible in the foundation building realm. He had reached the half-step core formation realm and could maybe exchange one or two blows with the golden core formation realm cultivator. But the golden light had caught him off-guard.

If this were directed at him from a close distance, he would probably not be able to avoid it. After the golden light clashed with the formation, the formation rippled crazily and a small crack had formed. Mind you after Keshab had enhanced the formation with the compound array, this formation could hold off a few attacks of golden core formation realm cultivator. Seeing the crack, Keshab’s and Amrit’s expressions changed.

Only these two people knew the real strength of the formation. Even cracking the formation, a little bit meant that the strength of the golden light was at the golden core formation realm and it was not just stepped into that realm. This strength was comparable to someone who had been in the golden core formation realm for a few years or someone who had specialized in pure destructive attack. After watching the spot, the golden light clashed with, Keshab realized it was a talisman of third order. He heaved a sigh of relief.

If it was a golden core formation realm cultivator attacking, that would be truly disastrous. Keshab was still confident the clan would be able to survive this onslaught because of the arrays he had engraved and the strength of the Battle hall as well as other clan members. These past weeks have been a boon for the clan as almost everyone has broken through the bottlenecks. So the low combat prowess of the clan had truly increased by more than a level.

As the formation mended and returned to the previous state, the cultivators above had a shock written on their faces. They couldn’t believe the formation could defend a golden core level attack. As the Rijal clan was breathing a sigh of relief another two streaks of the same golden light struck the formation in a blink of an eye. The Rijal clan member’s heart jumped. Keshab was also dumbfounded. ‘What kind of idiot uses the same type of talisman if it didn’t have much effect the previous time?’ Keshab thought.

You have to know this was not a person but a formation that encompasses the whole of the clan, so if it can repair itself once, there is a chance it will repair itself tens of times. Two golden streaks of lights struck at the same place. There was a ‘bang’ sound and the formation rippled. This time the space ripped by the talisman was a little bit larger. The Rijal clan members were shocked not because of the ripped space but because of the fact that talismans could be used this way.

Using two talismans at once and striking at the same point caused the power to be more destructive. It could be because of the specific type of talisman used or the technique used for throwing talismans but poverty and ignorance had limited their imagination. It opened a whole new world for them. After the space was cracked open, it mended immediately. ‘Huh,’ this was a sound heard from outside. It was hard for even Keshab to pinpoint where the sound came from but the ‘huh’ sent shiver down his spine.

Thousands of thoughts ran through his mind in an instant. The golden streaks of light were definitely attack talismans but the man with voice seemed like a threat. Keshab had previously faced with half-step core formation realm cultivator and hadn’t felt such dread. Cold sweat formed on his back. If the two clans had succeeded in inviting a golden core formation realm cultivator, the chances of surviving past midnight would be close to zero.

What baffled Keshab was how could the two clans have the capital to invite such a cultivator. Most of the things in the city of Lunaris were almost useless for beings in the golden core formation realm. And if the two clans had such capital, they would have used it for themselves. In just a short span of a second, Keshab thought all of this. He looked outside and expanded his search using divine sense but there was nothing out of the ordinary.

How could a mere cultivator of the foundation building realm match with the golden core formation realm cultivator if they wanted to hide? After all, reaching the golden core formation realm meant the first step toward immortality. As Keshab was contemplating, the voice sounded again, and ‘Now’ was heard accompanied by three streaks of golden lights striking at the same point. This time the ripped space was larger than previous. The ripped space was almost a meter in length. As the space was ripped, the cultivators standing above the formation used all their power to attack.

It wasn’t just the ten cultivators, the previously hidden cultivators surrounding the Rijal clan began to emerge and started attacking the array. Although attacking an intact formation wouldn’t make much difference, the rippling of the veil and rapid consumption of spirit energy to mend the tear had somewhat weakened the formation. It was a good thing that Punya had already put the Battle hall members at the important nodes of the array. Suddenly, the formation gave out.

The previously closing hole was slow in recovery and with the new attacks, the tear was widening. Keshab was shocked. He knew the strength of the array he had engraved. If it was a previous formation, it would have been given out by the second talisman attack but this new reinforced array was way stronger than the cultivators that were attacking it. Half of his confidence came from this re-engraved mountain protecting array.

He couldn’t think of anything else at the moment. From his calculations, the limit of the formation hasn’t been reached. As his mind blanked, chaos ensued in the ground. The clan members previously cheering had a change in their expression. They were confident before because Keshab and Punya seemed confident. But now since the formation was rippling heavily and the tear was getting stronger, they began to fear for their life.

Seeing the cultivators surrounding the clan from outside, the clan members knew they had nowhere to run. The environment instantly became gloomy. There was trepidation in the eyes of every cultivator from the clan. ‘Focus’ Punya shouted with all his might and it seemed to bring something to their hopeless eyes. The clan members instantly grabbed the weapon they had brought tightly. They were ready for the battle. It didn’t seem like they would survive today.

‘It was better to die fighting than to die a coward’s death’ every clan member thought.
