The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 120: Changes in the Battlefield IX

The Thapa clan cultivator was blown back a few meters before he could come to a halt. There were ankle-deep tracks of his legs on the ground. When he reached a stop, he was heaving heavily and had a look of shock and horror on his face. He had used more than a quarter of his qi reserves in this attack and the counterattack was unexpectedly stronger than his attack.

He hadn’t had time to process what just transpired. At one moment he was attacking Amrit with full strength and at the next moment he was blown off with his chest heavily wounded. At one point he thought he was going to die. He probably would have if he didn’t have the amulet on him. This amulet was a kind of talisman that could activate itself in case of a fatal attack. Only a third-grade talisman master can forge an amulet.

Since it used more materials than typical talismans and needed a higher auxiliary professional to create one, it was incredibly rare. Even in the Thapa clan, there were few such talismans. This particular talisman he had could block an attack from most of the late stage foundation building realm cultivators.

The counterattack from Amrit included both the Thapa clan cultivator’s and his strength so it was equivalent to an attack from the peak of the foundation building realm cultivator. If it was not for the talisman amulet, the Thapa clan cultivator would have died there. Amrit had used almost half of his qi and aura in this attack and now he was also heaving slightly.

If not for his confidence in the recovery, he wouldn’t have dared to use so much in one attack, and looking at the situation his gamble had paid off. Even with the amulet, the Thapa clan cultivator was injured. When the sword and halberd had clashed, the counterattack was burnt by the sword, and at that instant, it cracked a little and the amulet activated with a brown defensive shield. It took merely a second for the shield to crack into pieces and the attack hit the Thapa clan cultivator in the chest.

In that instant second, he had managed to gather his qi into the point of impact causing the blow to soften a bit and even then his chest was opened with rib cage broken and blood oozing. After coming to a halt, he instantly opened a pouch, took out a green pill, and swallowed it. This was a high-tier second-grade healing pill that could restore most of the fatal wounds with little side effects.

The only drawback of such pills was they couldn’t be used frequently or the healing property would turn poisonous. If two of them were taken at once, the body of an average cultivator couldn’t handle the medicinal properties and could explode. As the cultivator from the Thapa clan took the wound healing pill, the wound on his chest started healing at a visible speed. The pill seemed to be of good quality it started working immediately. Amrit wanted to rush and finish him at once but he had already wasted a lot of his qi and aura and the last counterattack had taken a bit of a toll on his body.

This was the first time he had used almost half of his reserves in the second move and unexpectedly, it had damaged his internal organs. Originally the second move was better to use when he had reached the foundation building realm but since he had such a strong body, he didn’t care much. Now although his body was healing rapidly, he missed his chance to kill the Thapa clan cultivator. And it wasn’t just because of his injuries, Amrit felt a faint threat from that cultivator.

It was either a forbidden skill or a trump card. Those big clans had many lifesaving items and skills like the amulet, there wasn’t one in the Rijal clan or even the Lunaris city. Since there may be unexpected changes, Amrit decided to wait and be cautious. There were not many injuries on the outside but his insides were healing rapidly and little blood here and there was helping Amrit recover his aura.

Only the recovery of qi was a little slow and it was only in contrast to his aura, other cultivators of the same realm would call his recovery cheating. Amrit gazed at the Thapa clan cultivator using the wound recovery pill and he was surprised a little when he saw the wound healing rapidly. He couldn’t underestimate the clans with good strength and foundations. Even the normal clan members had numerous trump cards.

They kept looking at each other for a few minutes and in this interval, they both were almost fully healed. Other surrounding cultivators saw both of them were injured but none of these cultivators had the guts to approach and attack as even injured these two were probably powerful enough to one-shot cultivators below the middle stage of the foundation building realm. After healing they both ran towards each other flaring their aura because they both knew each was a threat to the other clan.

Amrit had recovered almost all of his aura in such a short time and his qi was halfway recovered so he once again infused more aura into the halberd and used the first move of the heavenly halberd technique along with nine nether steps. His momentum was soaring and the force behind him was increasing. The Thapa clan cultivator this time used a sword clad in his qi and when they were about to clash, he sneakily threw a talisman toward Amrit.

A fireball the size of a washbasin was hurled toward Amrit and exploded when it came in contact with him. Although the impact didn’t cause much damage, it did lower his momentum. Since it was close range, there was no point in evading the talisman and Amrit didn’t feel any threat from it. Once again both the cultivators clashed with their weapons but this time the impact of their clash was almost ordinary.

The previous flashy appearance was not present. Both of them had spent too much of their reserves and couldn’t go all out. Even the Thapa clan cultivator who had used a quarter of his qi had to spend another quarter to cleanse all the aura from Amrit because he found the aura incredibly invasive. He was worried if the aura entered his body, it would harm him secretly and he was right in doing so.

It wasn’t just that if they were too spent on the battlefield, there may be some sneak attacks on the way, so they had to be careful. Now they were clashing with each other using minimum qi and their skills.
