Chapter 426: Leave the Gene_2
The director stood beside him, quietly observing the birth of life, mumbling as if answering, "It might also prevent the emergence of genius."
There are good and bad factors in every situation. Shi Tiesheng became a writer because of his disabled legs, but he also might have committed suicide because he couldn't endure it.
In the Alien Clan, disability might make one's mind more resilient, but it is more likely to lead to being killed by fellow members during selection.
"Life is truly exquisite," said the General.
The director looked at him somewhat unexpectedly.
The Princess stared at her, smiling, and asked, "Is your gene in there?"
"Life Ring employees aren't allowed to leave their genes," replied the director plainly, "The outside world says the Huan Clan is a cold-blooded race, and we indeed are quite cold-blooded, yet we still experience love, jealousy, family, friendship."
If Life Ring employees leave their own genes, they may end up using the blood of other children without permission to nurture their own child.
This is obviously contrary to the purpose of the Life Ring's existence—it's meant for the continuation of the entire race, not for raising a giant infant nurtured by feeding.
"If we leave our genes," the Princess slowly said, "could we only match the genes of the two of us?"
"It doesn't violate regulations, but claiming does."
The Princess looked at the General.
The General looked at embryos that couldn't be described as artificial or non-artificial, without answering.
After a moment, the director said, "Ahead is the nursery."
She led the way, with the Princess and the General walking behind her.
"What are you worried about?" the Princess asked.
"This spaceship might not survive."
"Be honest."
"...Alright, even if we complete the mission and recover or destroy the Incubation Chamber, we still have to undergo a military tribunal trial, and we're likely not to survive, so I'll be honest."
The director stood before a gate, the recognition system verifying her identity.
She also kept bypassing permissions for the General and the Princess to enter the nursery—the system did not permit them.
{Non-Life Ring Personnel, No Entry}
{Non-Life Ring Personnel, No Entry}
{Reported}
{Alert! Alert! All crew notified!}
{Crew has the right to kill non-Life Ring personnel}
"Unlike you," the General continued amid the sharp warning sounds, "I was born in the Life Ring and personally killed everyone from the same batch. I am a genius, now strong enough to destroy a planet single-handedly... but if given a choice, I'm not sure if I would still choose this path."
The Princess frowned, "What do you mean?"
The director smashed the panel and directly pulled out a line.
"What you mean is," she said, "you want your child to be born naturally and live a non-Huan Clan life?"
Sparks flashed from the gate, the alarm deflated like a balloon, but the red lights remained bright, soaking the corridor and everything around it.
"Naive," said the Princess coolly, "In this world, it's survival of the fittest. If you aren't strong enough, what's the point of living? Spending a lifetime at the mercy of others."
"That's the truth," the General nodded without saying more.
"Lift the door," the director stepped aside.
The Blood Ring lit up behind Li Changzhou, his eyes releasing crimson rays that burned a small door in the gate.
Bang!
The door panel of the "small door" fell to the ground.
The director stood in place, "This gate is made of Mier Metal... oh well."
She was the first to walk into the nursery.
"Now's not the time to 'want or not want,'" the Princess still walked beside the General, "Changzhou, as you said, our chances of survival are nearly impossible; leaving genes is already our best choice."
"Alright." Li Changzhou stepped through the gate.
The Princess suddenly grabbed his wrist with her right hand and pushed his shoulder with her left, pressing him against the corridor wall.
She leaned in, her helmet dissolving away, revealing a head full of white hair elegantly styled, her face stunningly beautiful and exquisite.
"With each passing minute, we draw closer to death; I don't have time to discuss ideals with you—take off the helmet!"
The General took off his helmet and said, "Yao, you're too pessimistic, as long as I'm here..."
Yao bit down.
Her plump and vibrant lips compressed into a small plane.
Changzhou stretched out his hand, one arm wrapping around her slim waist, the other holding her face, firmly kissing her back.
The director walking ahead stopped and turned to look at them.
Only after two minutes did Yao release him; she wiped her lower lip with the back of her hand, a seductive and satisfied smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
"Now you listen to me," she commanded slightly, "If we survive, I'll listen to you completely."
"Okay."
The Princess looked at the director and signaled her to return to the embryo room, speaking like a victor, "Thank you."
"It's my duty to create life," the director walked back, "Come over, and also remove your armor, relax your body, prepare; I'm going to extract your genes."
After removing their armor, the two wore only close-fitting bodysuits.
Li Changzhou's figure was tall and sturdy, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and long legs, very proportionate and upright, his features handsome, contrasting greatly with the smell of blood, he didn't quite seem like a General skilled in killing.
Both laid side by side on the instrument, glancing at each other.
The Princess took his hand and placed it on her chest.
The General mischievously pinched it.
The tickling made the Princess shrink her body, emitting a girlish giggle.
"That's enough," the director said.
The two stood up, armor reattached, but did not put on their helmets.
They watched the largest human cells and smallest human cells merge, the prototype of life was born.
"Originally I didn't care much about this ship, but now I must ensure it survives," the General murmured.
"How's its health?" The Princess's voice contained an urgency.
The director looked at the holographic projection, which rapidly displayed scanned information.
Rank: 0

3, Post five years release point: 0-level star - Straum Star
"0-level?" Yao gently pressed on the vessel, gazing at the tiny prototype of life, "Good child, you'll become as strong a warrior as your father."
"I was also 0-level back then, the resources I received were worse than this guy," Changzhou couldn't help but say.
"What are you?!" Yao turned back teasingly cursing him, then immediately fixed her gaze back on the embryo, "He (She) is the child of two Second Rank warriors, the mother is a marshal's daughter, a Huan Clan Princess."
She asked a silly question: "How long will it take my child to speak?"
"You'll never see it," the director replied.
Yao stared at the embryo in the nutrient liquid, her exquisite face full of fascination.
"Let's go," the director turned towards the nursery.
The nursery was filled with oval water tanks, shaped babies suspended inside like exhibits.
The floor was covered with numerous lines, controlling the constant temperature, nutrition, innate education, and other intelligence for each tank.
Occasionally, an alarm would buzz, and then a hand would descend from the top, adjusting the corresponding tank.
The entire nursery resembled an amber exhibition hall, a hydroponic factory.
The two remained following behind the director.
"I kind of understand your previous thoughts now," the Princess suddenly said.
"Though the process may have been a bit convoluted, in the end, we can always understand each other," the General embraced her waist.
The Princess stopped walking.
She said, "I want to take that child away."
