Chapter 175- A Solution to Move Forward
Inside Little Abdu's Heavenly Palace, Yoon-Jae and the others were monotonously going through a mountain's worth of storage rings while gagging at the contents of the pill boxes.
Cheong-Su revealed himself to be a bothersome person, but in a playful way. He would purposely shove the horribly smelling pill boxes he found into his brother's face.
His little brother Cheong-San wasn't any better as he would call the others over, only for them to scatter while gagging and cursing the two brothers. Even the ever-silent Byeong-Ho muttered a few curses under his breath.
Meanwhile, Sol was sitting at the entrance of the Palace Hall, looking out at the swirling whirlpool around the Palace.
The longer this vortex spun, the more cracks that appeared on Abdu's Heavenly Palace, and they've been here for about three hours now.
Crack…
Sol looked down and saw that a thin crack had appeared on the ground about four inches long.
After thinking for a moment, Sol reached out and placed his finger on one end of the crack. His finger then glowed with a green light as he slid it to the crack's other end.
However, before he could even make it halfway, his face went deathly pale.
"Stop that."
Little Abdu's voice appeared inside the Palace Hall, and everyone turned to look at Sol.
Sol didn't pause, and his finger slid over the rest of the crack.
After that, it felt like most of his energy had been drained. His Innate Dharma was even trembling slightly.
Sol looked at the results of his healing and saw that only half an inch of the crack had been healed.
He reached out to try once more, but…
Crack
Sol turned to his left and saw that another crack spanning about two inches appeared.
Sol reached for both cracks to heal them.
"I said stop that, Sol."
Little Abdu said, and this time with a more demanding tone.
"It's my fault. I-"
Before Sol could finish his self-pitting rant, a long sigh came from Little Abdu, cutting him off.
"You're on a timeout."
A profound energy appeared in the hall and swept up Sol before plopping him down in front of a wall.
"Don't move from there until you've come to terms with the fact that not everything will be in your control. Mistakes will happen, and you need to learn from them."
Sol's shoulders slumped, and he didn't respond.
The others watch this scene play out before shaking their heads and going back to sifting through the pile of storage rings.
In the outside world, Little Abdu's closed eyes open.
He was currently in the pitch-black void between the fabric of space, where his body was constantly being bombarded by chaotic spatial winds.
If Sol and the others were to be let out now, they would be shredded in an instant. Even someone in the Spiritual Realm would be faced with danger.
Luckily, Little Abdu had his Innate Ability of Dissemination to ignore attacks.
His cat form would burst into a black mist each time the spatial winds blew in his direction. But this also meant he had to keep his ability on at all times.
'There goes several years' worth of recovery.'
Little Abdu sighed and accepted the fact that his cultivation would take an even longer time to recover to its peak.
In front of him was the tear he made in the fabric of space, a thin layer was covering it so one wouldn't be able to see it from the outside, but vice versa, Little Abdu could see the outside world.
However, each time the tear was healing, Little Abdu would have to carefully rip it open. If it were to close while he was in here, they would be stranded in this chaotic void. Even if he tried to open another tear, they might just end up somewhere else entirely.
'Looks like it's safe to go out.'
Little Abdu said as he surveyed the outside world. It finally showed some semblance of calm.
"Get ready to go out."
Little Abdu's voice echoed inside his Heavenly Palace, and everyone dropped what they were doing and stood up.
Yoon-Jae walked over to Sol and handed over Little Zeel before patting his shoulder.
Sol could only give a forced smile in response.
Before long, the eight boys vanished from the Palace. They appeared in the outside world and looked around at the barren land.
"I can still feel the after-effects of the Arrays somewhat."
Byeong-Ho commented as he looked down at the ground.
Little Abdu leapt onto Sol's head and then immediately fell asleep.
The group slowly made their way back towards the Main Palace.
Upon seeing that the black-tiled ground was still intact, Mar-Dule's expression turned ugly.
"So, these really are the roots of the Grand Formation Array, only the ones in the three Courtyards went off when they were disturbed."
Sol approached the area where he and Mar-Dule were disabling the Lightning Array.
"Brother Sol, be careful."
Byeong-Ho warned.
"It's okay."
Sol said as he looked at the now-destroyed Lightning Array.
"Well, this was one way to disable it."
Heon-Tae commented, but Cheong-Su asked bitterly.
"So, you want us to go through that again until we reach the Main Palace, that's three hundred meters away?"
"Well, either way, wouldn't we have to start from the Outer Courtyard and then disable all the Arrays before we could get to these? How long would that take?"
"Don't be stupid, we can't let Little Abdu go through that again. Plus, it's too dangerous."
Sol said in response to Heon-Tae's crazy suggestion, but then added.
"But I agree that our original idea of disabling the Formation Arrays from the end to its roots is wrong."
"If that's not how we pass this trial, then how does Immortal Dai Shen expect us to pass it?"
Yoon-Jae asked, feeling that Immortal Dai Shen was psychotic to put something like this as the first trial.
Sol shook his head and then answered.
"It's not that the method is wrong, it's just that it's wrong for us."
Sol then glanced at the blue tattoo on his right hand, then said.
"We came here too early. If I had come here after fully mastering the abilities of Su Moon's Inheritance, I would be able to cover this entire area and easily deactivate the Formation Arrays."
Yoon-Jae blinked.
So that was the case. It wasn't that Immortal Dai Shen was psychotic by putting this as the first trial, it's just that he never anticipated that a bunch of Mortal Realm cultivators would be the ones to try and get his Inheritance.
But this left room for questions as to where the Sects and Clans came in in all of this. Were they able to get past these Formation Arrays, or did they just give up?
"So, what do we do now? Do we continue our plan and hope Second Brother stalls for more time? Because with that amount of Formation Arrays, it would take more than a month to get through them all. Or do we give up?"
Ji-Hoon looked at Heon-Tae and responded.
"Those two can't be our only options."
"Eldest Brother, do you have any other ideas?"
Ji-Hoon went silent.
"I thought so."
"No, we can't just give up Third Brother. We've sacrificed too much to be here, right here where Immortal Dai Shen's Palace is in front of us. How many times have we fantasized about being here over the past four years?"
Heon-Tae clenched his fists at Byeong-ho's words.
"I know, of course I know. Second Brother is risking everything just by staying inside Pearl City to help us."
Cheong-Su and Cheong-San looked at each other. They agreed that they couldn't go back like this.
Sol was staring at the Main Palace. Upon hearing Heon-Tae and Ji-Hoon's conversation, he couldn't help but sigh.
Everyone just stood around individually, thinking about a solution to move forward. Mar-Dule suddenly perked up and slapped Yoon-Jae next to him on the back before yelling.
"That's right! I got an idea!"
