The good girl

Chapter 14: I am pissed

I gasped as I suddenly recognized Adrian. A wave of urgency hit me, and I felt the need to rush to the restroom. I hadn't realized Lyon had invited him. "What did you say to her?" Adrian repeated, his tone firm. Silas looked bewildered, asking, "And who are you?" I could see Adrian was about to confront him. "Dad? I didn't expect to see you here," I responded, trying to mask my shock. "Lyon invited me for a surprise visit. Margaret is here too; I left her to grab a drink when I overheard this jerk say something. Is it true they claim you're dating Lyon?"

I nodded. "Yes." He turned his gaze to Silas, the tension visible through clenched muscles on his face. "But don't worry about it; let's just head to Margaret without creating a scene," Adrian said, his focus unwavering on Silas, who stood frozen and speechless. I sensed this confrontation wasn't over, and I was not looking forward to answering Adrian's questions later.

We approached where Margaret was standing. "Is this what they've been doing to you?" I sighed, explaining, "The ones who started the rumors have already faced Mr. Bernard's wrath. This guy here claims he likes me, but I rejected him, and he's just upset." Adrian didn't seem fully satisfied. "I need to talk to Lyon; I don't want any issues between you two." That's exactly why I preferred to keep my relationship with Lyon a secret from him. Once we reached Margaret, her eyes widened in delight. "Oh my God, Alicia, you look stunning!" As I felt Adrian's gaze on me, a slight smile appeared on his face. "How did I not notice before?" I embraced Margaret. "You don't look too shabby yourself," I joked. "Where did you run into her?" She inquired. Adrian was about to reply when Lyon entered the scene, and my heart skipped a beat—not out of admiration, but because he had another woman with him.

What was happening? This was the same Lyon who told me he didn't want to see me with anyone else, yet here he was with a woman who wore an expression of a proud fiancée. I turned my gaze away from him, seeking something to drink to clear my mind. "I wonder who the new lady is?" Margaret pondered aloud. I chose not to share my connection with Lyon, knowing it would hurt her. After all, she had inquired before if he was still interested in me, to which I lied, saying no. "We all know Lyon can't stay single for long, so his absence of a companion lately was surprising," I forced a smile, not wanting my brewing frustration to show.

"Um, I think I've had too much to drink. I'll head to the restroom," I said with a smile. "I'll join you; I need to take a break too," Margaret chimed in, and we both laughed. Margaret and I went to the restroom, and as soon as I sat on the toilet, I took deep breaths. The possessiveness I had felt towards Lyon was overwhelming, and now seeing him with someone else brought me close to tears. After composing myself, I washed my hands, and Margaret was already at the sink. "You took your time! Looks like he hasn't stopped with his parade of girlfriends. It's probably best you stay away from him," Margaret remarked. With every word she spoke about Lyon, my irritation heightened. After this gathering, he would owe me a solid explanation, and if it didn't satisfy me, I'd have to cut ties with him.

"Once a womanizer, always a womanizer," I remarked, prompting Margaret to gaze at me, surprised. "Wow, I've never heard you speak like this about him before!" she laughed. "I remember when I found out about your crush on him; you were utterly devastated when you discovered he was engaged, weren't you?" Her laughter continued, and I joined in, thinking, "Well, he was cheated on, which led him to a life filled with different women." Honestly, why was I feeling anger? We weren't in a relationship, and he owes me nothing, just as I owe him nothing. If he wants to be with someone else, that's his choice. On the other hand, I'm free to enjoy myself at this party and flirt with anyone I choose. I'll make sure he regrets having another woman on his arm.

When we returned to the gathering, I noticed him chatting with some friends while that same woman stood next to him. We approached Adrian, who said, "You just missed Lyon; he was here a little while ago and wanted to thank you for coming, Margaret." I was relieved I wasn't around when he dropped by to see Adrian. "I'm off to mingle with some colleagues," I told them, and Adrian nodded in agreement. Jack must have wandered away as I shifted with Adrian, likely informed by Lyon that Adrian knew nothing about our situation.

I stepped away to grab a drink when Silas appeared again. At one point, I would have dismissed him, but now I felt indifferent. "I apologize for what I said," he insisted, always so quick to apologize. I only hummed in response, my thoughts focused on how to deal with Lyon. "My dad dislikes you, so it's best you don't stand beside me," I stated as I turned and walked off.

"Hey beautiful" there I have Seen my prey "hello handsome" I say with a lovely smile, it was a young man, he looks quite handsome though not gonna lie but I don't think he is my type, I just wish Lyon sees me talking to him, that alone will have him pissed as I am.

The man extended his hand, "hi, I am Toby" I took his hand and smiled "Alicia, nice to meet you Toby" I took my hand off his and he asked "are you with anyone" oh, I am really not used to this but if I want Lyon to be jealous I have to go with the flow "yeah, am with my family" and that's not a lie "just family members then, I don't know if you'll like to have a drink and small talks" he offered, this much will be good as I replied "that sounds nice".

Okay to sum it all up, he works in one of the branches in Lyon's Enterprise, also in the same field with me, accounting, we flowed well as we talked about certain topics about work and all several of his coworkers joined us and I was having a great time with them, these ones are far better than my coworkers, I felt like I was really in the mist of people who had the same reasoning with me, Toby was paying extra attention to me and I am really sorry for using him, he seems like a nice guy who is really interested in me.

"Um, how are you enjoying the party so far?" He asks, "well thanks for inviting me over" I say with a genuine smile, "can I have your number?" Oh, I see he wants to take it to the next level "sure" he gave me his phone and I gave him my number, he looks so happy about it, I can't believe I am actually playing with someone's feelings because of Lyon.

Suddenly the smile from my face fell, if looks can kill, I would be dead, I felt a hole bore in my head, even without looking to my right, I know who it is, I slowly turned to the side and there he was, this was the first time were meeting eye to eye since this party started, he looks like a man who was ready to take me away from Toby, even though he still has that woman plastered to his side like a chewing gum, I took my gaze off him and directed it to Toby who was so happy to get my contact "I'll have to go see my people" I say getting up, he stood up too "I'll call you, Alice" I smiled at him "I'll be expecting it".

I started by going over to were Adrian was when I was stopped by Jack "Mr Bernard wishes to speak with you" oh, so he wants to talk now "take me to him" we walked along a corridor, as we stopped at the door to a room, Jack opened the door and I walked in, the door was shut beh

ind me "you called".
