THE GHOST ASSASSIN ☠️

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Abduction

Commander Arlo paced back and forth in the briefing room, his eyes fixed on Rachel and Amari. "I expect more from my top agents," he growled. "This assassin is making us look like amateurs."

Rachel spoke up, her voice firm. "We're doing everything we can, sir. But this killer is not like anything we've ever seen."

Amari nodded in agreement. "We've tried every angle, every lead. But he always seem to be one step ahead."

Commander Arlo stopped pacing and turned to face them. "I don't want excuses. I want results."

Lieutenant krieg, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. "Sir, maybe we should consider bringing in outside help. A fresh perspective could be just what we need."

Commander Arlo scowled. "I don't want outsiders messing with our case. We can handle this ourselves."

Agent Nova cleared his throat. "Sir, with all due respect, maybe it's time to reconsider that stance. We're not making progress, and the body count is rising."

Commander Arlo's expression turned cold. "I'll consider it. But for now, I want you all to keep working the case. I want this killer caught."

The room fell silent, the tension between the agents and Commander Arlo palpable.

Rachel sighed, frustration etched on her face. "We've been over this, sir. We need more resources, more manpower. We can't keep working with our hands tied behind our backs."

Commander Arlo's expression turned red with anger. "You're not getting more resources, Rachel. You're going to have to make do with what you have. Now, get out there and catch this killer!"

Amari stood up, his eyes flashing with anger. "With all due respect, sir, that's not a plan. That's just throwing us to the wolves."

Commander Arlo's face turned purple with rage. "How dare you! I'm your superior officer, and you'll do as I say. Now, get out!"

The room fell silent, the tension between the agents and Commander Arlo almost palpable. Rachel and Amari exchanged a frustrated glance, then turned and walked out of the room, followed by Lieutenant krieg and agent Nova.

As they left, Rachel muttered under her breath, "This is going to end badly."

Amari nodded in agreement. "We need to come up with a new plan, and fast. Before Commander Arlo gets us all killed."

They walked down the hallway, their footsteps echoing off the walls. "We need to get to the bottom of this," Rachel said, her voice low and urgent. "Before it's too late."

Amari nodded. "I'll start digging into the case files again. See if I can find anything we missed."

Rachel nodded. "I'll go talk to some of our sources. See if anyone's heard anything."

They parted ways, each determined to catch the killer and bring them to justice. But as they went their separate ways, they couldn't shake the feeling that they were running out of time.

Kael's team huddled together in a dimly lit room, their faces set with determination.

"Alright, we need to get Dr. Elara out of the division's facility," Kael said, his voice low and urgent.

Ryker nodded. "I agree. But we need to be smart about it. We can't just barge in there and expect to get out alive."

Lena spoke up, her eyes gleaming with intensity. "I say we wait until she's leaving the facility at night. We can take her right in front of the facility."

Jax nodded. "And we should use a tranquilizer gun. We don't want to hurt her, just incapacitate her long enough to get her out of there."

Kael nodded. "Agreed. We'll need to capture her before she get into her car"

The team nodded, their faces set with determination. They knew the risks, but they were willing to take them to get Dr. Elara.

The sun is going down and the day is getting darker. The team gathered in the living room, their faces set with determination.

"Alright, let's get ready," Kael said, his voice low and urgent. "We need to move quickly."

Lena nodded, checking her watch. "We've got a 30-minute window before Dr. Elara leaves the facility."

Ryker grinned, holding up the tranquilizer gun. "I've got the goods. This will make it a quick and easy grab."

Jax chuckled, clapping Ryker on the back. "You and your toys, Ryker."

Kael smiled wryly, adjusting his shirt. He was dressed in dark jeans and a plain dark shirt, a departure from his ninja suit.

"Not my usual attire, I know," he said, "but i want to blend in tonight."

Ryker nodded, tucking the gun into his waistband. "We'll be in and out, no problem. Simple mission."

Jax headed for the door, keys in hand. "I'll drive."

As they piled into the car, Ryker turned to Kael with a grin. "You know, Kael, you look almost human in those clothes."

Kael raised an eyebrow, a wry smile spreading across his face. "Well, I was hoping to pass for a mere mortal tonight. You know, blend in with the commoners like you."

Ryker chuckled. "You're about as subtle as a sledgehammer, Kael."

Kael shrugged, his smile growing wider. "Hey, at least I don't have a haircut that looks like I stuck my finger in a socket."

Ryker's grin faltered for a moment before he burst out laughing. "Low blow, Kael. Low blow."

Jax, who was driving, chuckled. "You two done? We've got a mission to complete."

Kael and Ryker nodded, still grinning at each other. They knew how to keep the tension light, even in the most intense moments.

The team arrived at the destination, a quiet parking lot outside the facility. They pulled into a secluded spot, shielded from view by a row of trees.

"Alright, let's wait," Jax whispered, killing the engine. "She should be out any minute."

Kael and Ryker nodded, their eyes fixed on the facility entrance. Minutes ticked by, the only sound the distant hum of a security camera.

Finally, Dr. Elara emerged, her car keys jingling in her hand. She walked towards her car, oblivious to the danger lurking in the shadows.

Ryker took aim, his hand steady. "Now," he whispered, squeezing the trigger.

The tranquilizer gun fired with a soft "thwip", the dart hitting Dr. Elara's arm. She cried out, her eyes widening in shock, before her legs buckled and she fell to the ground.

Kael sprang into action, dashing out of the darkness with a mask on to scoop up Dr. Elara's limp form. He snatched the car keys from her hand and sprinted towards the car, where Jax had already started the engine.

"Go!" Kael yelled, tossing Dr. Elara into the backseat.

Jax floored it, the car speeding away from the facility as Ryker leapt in beside Kael.

"We've got her," Kael said, his chest heaving with exertion. "Let's get out of here."
