Chapter 22: CHAPTER 22: THE TORTURE
Kael's eyes fluttered open, his head throbbing with pain. He was met with the sight of Baron, Lilith, and Phoenix standing before him, their faces expressionless. He tried to move, but realized he was tied to a chair, his wrists and ankles bound by thick ropes.
"Welcome back," Baron said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "We were starting to think you wouldn't wake up."
Kael's gaze darted between the three, trying to remember how he had ended up in this situation. Memories of the fight with Phoenix came flooding back, and he winced, remembering the brutal beating he had received.
Baron's eyes gleamed with excitement as he gazed at Kael. "Ah, the infamous Assassin who took down our division. I've heard so much about you. I warned Director Arlo to help him, but he refused. I'm curious, why did you do it?"
Kael's expression remained stoic, his lips sealed.
Phoenix stepped forward, his eyes blazing with intensity. "I witnessed it myself. You slaughtered all of our division commanders without mercy."
Kael's gaze locked onto Phoenix. "So, you're the one I saw that night. You've been tracking me."
Lilith's voice was laced with venom. "You killed our own trainee, an Assassin in training. Why?"
Kael's response was devoid of remorse. "You sent him to kill me, so I had to kill him first."
Baron's face darkened. "Xanthe's betrayal was because of you. She turned against us because of your actions."
Phoenix's fists clenched. "You'll suffer for all that you've done."
Kael's boldness was unwavering. "I'm not afraid of you. I've taken down your division and I'll take down your entire organization if I have to."
Phoenix's anger boiled over, and he landed a series of punches on Kael's face, leaving it bloody and bruised. "You're a monster!"
Kael spat out blood, his eyes still flashing with defiance. "I'm what you made me."
Lilith's eyes narrowed. "We'll break you and when we do, you'll beg for mercy."
Kael's laughter was cold and mirthless. "I don't beg."
Baron's eyes gleamed with excitement as he gazed at Kael, still tied to the chair. "So, you think you're brave, don't you? You think you can take on our entire organization?"
Kael's expression remained defiant, his eyes locked on Baron. "I've already taken down your division. I'll take down the rest of you too."
Phoenix snarled, his fists clenched. "You're a fool. You'll never leave this place alive."
Lilith's voice was laced with venom. "We'll make sure of it. You'll suffer for your arrogance."
Baron leaned forward, his face inches from Kael's. "You see, Kael or whatever they called you, we've been watching you. We know all about your little tricks. And we're going to use them against you."
Kael's gaze never wavered. "I'm not afraid of you."
Phoenix landed another punch on Kael's face, but he didn't flinch. "You should be. You should be very afraid."
Lilith's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Let's show him what we're capable of. Let's break him."
Baron nodded, a cruel smile spreading across his face. "Yes. Let's break him. Piece by piece."
As they continued to taunt and threaten Kael, he remained steadfast, his boldness unwavering. He knew that as long as he had breath in his body, he would never give up. He would always defy them, no matter the cost.
Xanthe sat in darkness, her eyes straining to see through the blackness. She was locked away, a prisoner in Baron's abode. The only sounds she could hear were the muffled voices and footsteps from outside her cell.
Suddenly, she heard raised voices, the sound of argument and anger. Xanthe's heart quickened as she recognized Baron's voice, his tone cold and menacing.
Xanthe's curiosity piqued, she wondered what they were talking about. Was it Kael? Had they finally caught up with him?
The argument continued, growing more heated by the minute. Xanthe heard the sound of punches being thrown, the thud of flesh against flesh. She winced, imagining the pain.
What was going on? Who was being beaten? And why?
Xanthe's mind raced with questions, but she knew she wouldn't get any answers. She was trapped, locked away in this dark room, at the mercy of Baron's whims.
The sounds of violence grew louder, and Xanthe covered her ears, trying to block out the noise. But she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease, the sense that something was terribly wrong.
Kael's eyes flashed with defiance as he gazed at Baron, his voice unwavering. "You'll never break me. I'll never give you what you want."
Baron sneered, his face twisted in anger. "We'll see about that. Phoenix, show him what happens when you defy us."
Phoenix stepped forward, his fists clenched. "With pleasure."
Kael's gaze never wavered, even as Phoenix's fists connected with his face. He spat out blood, his eyes still locked on Baron. "You're making a mistake. I'm not afraid of you."
Lilith's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Oh, this is just the beginning. We'll show you the true meaning of pain."
Elara paced back and forth in the safehouse, her mind racing with thoughts of Kael's capture. "We have to act fast. We can't let them break him."
Ava nodded in agreement, her eyes fixed on a map of the Baron's compound. "I've been studying the layout. I think I can get us in undetected."
Lena's hands were clenched into fists. "We need to be smart about this. We can't just barge in there without a plan."
Elara stopped pacing and turned to face them. "I agree. We need to know where Kael is being held and what kind of security we're up against."
Ava pointed to a section of the map. "I think he has taken care of some of the guards already. Also he is being held up in the biggest chamber in the castle, Lena should he able to hack the security cameras for us to know what is happening in the room."
Lena nodded. "I can hack into their security cameras and disable them. But It is not working, I don't think there are security cameras in that particular chamber."
Elara's eyes locked onto hers. "So, what are we to do now?"
The three women began to formulate a plan, their determination to save Kael driving them forward. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were willing to risk everything to save their friend.
As they continued planning, Ava suddenly stopped and looked up. "Do you guys hear that?"
Lena paused, her brow furrowed. "Hear what?"
Ava nodded towards the window. "That car outside. It just pulled up."
Elara's eyes flicked towards the window, her expression cautious. "I'll check it out."
Ava nodded, turning back to Lena. "Okay, so we've got the east wing covered. We need to figure out how to get past the few remaining guards..."
Lena nodded, her eyes scanning the map. "I think I can create a diversion at the front entrance. That should draw some of the guards away..."
Meanwhile, Elara crept towards the window, her eyes fixed on the outside. She carefully pulled back the curtain, her gaze scanning the darkness. Ava noticed her pause, her expression frozen.
"Elara, who is it?" Ava asked, her voice low.
But Elara didn't respond. She just kept staring out the window, her eyes fixed on something - or someone - outside.
Ava's brow furrowed, her instincts on high alert. "Elara, what's going on?"
But Elara remained silent, her gaze locked on the mysterious figure outside.
