The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 401: I Missed You So Much

As soon as Chen Zheng stepped into the room, he saw a familiar face and couldn't help but call out.

Seated behind the desk, the middle-aged man lifted his head. His gaze fell upon Chen Zheng as he slowly stood up. "Chen Zheng, you're here!"

"Dad!"

Chen Zheng took a few steps forward, exclaiming excitedly, "I haven't seen you in so long, I've missed you so much!"

"Heh, I've missed you too."

A look of gratification appeared on his father's face as he reached out to pat Chen Zheng's head, speaking tenderly, "My boy, have things been tough for you lately?"

"I wouldn't say tough, exactly, but..." Chen Zheng hesitated for a moment before deciding to share his experiences with his father.

After listening, his father's expression grew colder and his voice turned icy. "I never thought that wretched wench would dare to deceive me! Does she really think I don't know what she's done? Hmph! It's just as well. The family will be yours to lead eventually. It's good to teach that wench a lesson now!"

Hearing this, Chen Zheng's expression stiffened. "Dad, what do you want to do?"

"It's simple. I want you to kill that wretched wench!" his father said in a menacing tone. "I want her to experience the feeling of betrayal. That is the cruelest punishment for her!"

Chen Zheng nodded. "Since she was the one who betrayed us first, there's no need for me to hold back."

"Good. As expected of my son. You have guts!"

His father nodded in approval and continued, "That wench's cultivation might be decent, but it's not enough for you to fear. I'll arrange for a more powerful expert to protect you in secret. All you have to do is make your move and kill her!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Do you still remember how your aunt died?" his father asked, suddenly changing the subject.

"I remember!" Chen Zheng said through clenched teeth.

"This time, I have avenged you. From now on, stay put at home. You can't go running around anymore. You are now the chairman of the Chen Corporation and must consider the company, understand?"

"Understood!"

"Mm."

"Dad, there's one more thing I'd like to ask for your help with," Chen Zheng said after a moment's thought.

His father gestured with his hand. "Go on."

"It's about my aunt. Her surname is also Chen, and her mother's name is Lin Yueru. I'd like you to send someone to find her," Chen Zheng pleaded.

"Alright," his father nodded. "You may go."

Relieved by the response, Chen Zheng turned and left.

「Eight o'clock in the evening, in a villa in the southern suburbs of Jiang City.」

"Are you certain Chen Zheng will come to Jiang City today?" Chen Zheng's father asked.

"Positive! He will be here today because we're hosting a banquet here tonight and have invited him to attend!" the middle-aged man beside him reassured with a beaming smile, though his tone was chilling. "Boss, don't worry. Chen Zheng is as good as dead today!"

"Good." Chen Zheng's father nodded. "You may all leave now. Tonight's banquet must go off without a hitch!"

"Yes, Boss."

The two middle-aged men replied and then exited the hall.

Chen Zheng, oh Chen Zheng, for all your schemes, you never calculated that we would use the person closest to you to deal with you, did you?

Chen Zheng's father muttered to himself, his lips curling into a slight smirk as his eyes gleamed with excitement.

「Outside a five-star hotel in Jiang City.」

A black sedan pulled up, and the door opened. A man in a black tailcoat and gold-rimmed glasses stepped out of the car—it was the eldest son of the Bai Family, Bai Yu.

As Bai Yu walked, he attracted a great deal of attention.

"Oh my God, is that Bai Yu? He's so handsome! Even more than those stars on TV!"

"Not only is he handsome, but he has such charisma!"

"It's enough to make you sick with envy!"

"I have to win him over!"

As Bai Yu walked, he continuously drew the gazes of the many women around him. Seeing this, he couldn't help but reveal a triumphant smile.

Just as Bai Yu entered the lobby, an attendant immediately approached him. "Hello, sir, and welcome to Jiang City. Do you have a reservation for a private room, or the presidential suite?"

"Book a presidential suite for me," Bai Yu said indifferently.

"A presidential suite? Of course. This way, please," the attendant said respectfully, leading Bai Yu towards it.

「A little over an hour later.」

The Rolls-Royce Phantom that Bai Yu had arrived in departed from the hotel.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

A series of shrill rings sounded.

"Ah..."

Lin Ruohan was jolted from a deep sleep.

"Who is it? So annoying, ruining a perfectly good dream!" Lin Ruohan muttered, grabbing the alarm clock from her bedside table to check the time.

"Oh my God, it's already noon, and I have an important meeting today!" Lin Ruohan scrambled out of bed, hurriedly washed up, and dashed downstairs.

***

"Assistant Lin, Mr. Chen has ordered that your meeting be postponed by one day." Just as Lin Ruohan stepped out of the elevator, a middle-aged woman stopped her and spoke politely.

"What? Postponed by one day?" Lin Ruohan frowned. "What does Mr. Chen mean by this?"

"Assistant Lin, this is Mr. Chen's instruction. I hope you can understand," the middle-aged woman explained.

"This isn't right! How can Mr. Chen do this?" Lin Ruohan said angrily.

"Please don't make this difficult for me, Assistant Lin!" The middle-aged woman shook her head with a wry smile.

Lin Ruohan looked around and noticed that not a single colleague was looking at her. She felt frustrated and couldn't help but curse under her breath, "Damn asshole!"

"Assistant Lin, where are you going?" At that moment, another middle-aged woman came over, grinning. "This is the company building. Are you looking for Mr. Chen? If so, you might be disappointed. He went out today and isn't in the office."

"Mr. Chen isn't in the office? Where did he go?" Lin Ruohan asked.

"Mr. Chen went to a place on the southwest border."

"What for?" Lin Ruohan asked anxiously.

"I'm not sure about that," the middle-aged woman said with a shrug. "It seems like Mr. Chen has some kind of partnership with the powers in the southwest."

Lin Ruohan nodded. "Oh, I see." She turned to leave, but the middle-aged woman grabbed her arm.

"Hey, what do you want now?" Lin Ruohan said impatiently.

"Miss, don't be angry. Look at all these people here. Why don't we go somewhere else to chat? Whatever you want to know, I can help you," the middle-aged woman said with a grin, her eyes full of greed.

Lin Ruohan looked into the woman's eyes and instantly understood her implication. "You?" she scoffed. "And why should I trust you?"

"Because you're Chen Zheng's wife!" the middle-aged woman said matter-of-factly.

"How do you know that?"
