Chapter 179: The Source of Trace Evidence!
Inside the interrogation room, Mr Li and Mr. Zhao remained silent for a long time before finally leaving dejectedly.
They had lost the most crucial evidence against this stubborn suspect.
If Wang Chuang doesn't identify him face-to-face, then where else can we find evidence next?
Walking out of the interrogation room, Mr. Zhao clenched his fist and punched a column in the corridor twice.
"Mr Li, it's clearly this kid who did it."
"Should I go in, turn off the cameras, and show him some color?"
Mr Li sighed deeply.
"Your method only treats the symptoms, not the root cause. Even if he admits everything now, he can still retract his confession in court."
"Moreover, we could even get countered if we're not careful."
Hearing Mr Li's words, Mr. Zhao anxiously paced back and forth.
"Mr Li, we can't just let it drag on like this!"
"If he doesn't confess, we can only detain him for 24 hours."
"By now, he knows the police have found him. If we let him go, he might flee!"
Mr Li furrowed his brows deeply.
He didn't speak, only took out a cigarette, lit it, and smoked silently.
After a long while, Mr Li said in a deep voice: "In this situation, I think we must break through Wang Chuang's testimony; only his identification can close the case completely."
At the same time, beyond the one-way glass of the interrogation room, Jiang An's mind was racing,
Where to find solid evidence?
Suddenly, the words on the cover page of the book "Scene Investigation" flashed in his mind, "The crime scene is the source of all evidence!"
Then, he turned his head and said in a serious tone, "Senior Sister, Senior Brother, let's head to the primary crime scene right away!"
"Again?"
Wan looked puzzled, his gaze moving back and forth between Jiang An and the interrogation room.
Jiang An nodded.
"In this situation, we need to find strong evidence; otherwise, it will be hard to bring Liu Dong to justice."
As soon as he finished speaking, he walked straight out.
Zhang Yean and Wan exchanged glances and then said, "Let's go; we shouldn't just stand around, let's follow him."
Wan spread his hands helplessly.
"Does the primary crime scene contain so much information?"
"Can we find an answer there every time we hit a bottleneck?"
Thirty minutes later, Jiang An, Zhang Yean, and Wan arrived at the primary murder scene.
By this time, darkness had enveloped the entire village.
After getting out of the car, everything was pitch-black, and the sound of unidentified insects chirping was audible from nearby bushes.
The murder house was entirely dark, with no light at all.
Zhang Yean looked around and suddenly said, "Didn't seem so during the day, but these three tiled houses feel quite remote at night."
Wan looked around too, "Not only remote, but very eerie."
On hearing the word "eerie," Zhang Yean shivered unconsciously.
Jiang An turned to the trunk, took out three high-beam flashlights.
He kept one for himself and handed the other two to Zhang Yean and Wan.
Next, Jiang An bent down, lifted the police line, and went directly towards the three tiled houses.
Zhang Yean and Wan hesitated a bit.
They glanced at each other, and Zhang Yean suddenly asked, "Senior Brother, doesn't he fear going alone into the darkest place?"
Wan shook his head, "Don't forget, he's a forensic doctor!"
"The dead have no power over a forensic doctor!"
Meanwhile, in the investigation team's interrogation room in Han City.
Mr Li and Mr. Zhao initiated another interrogation on Wang Chuang.
Mr Li slowly walked to Wang Chuang's side, stopped, and said gravely, "I advise you not to struggle in vain anymore."
"We've already got your crime nailed down."
Seeing Wang Chuang with his head lowered, speechless.
Mr Li glanced at Mr. Zhao, who instantly understood.
He picked up his phone, swiped the screen, and walked quickly to the interrogation chair.
"Look at this person!"
Mr. Zhao held the phone screen in front of Wang Chuang.
A minute later, he said in a deep voice, "This person is right next door, only a wall separating you."
Suddenly, Wang Chuang looked up at Mr Li and Mr. Zhao.
Mr. Zhao put away his phone and muttered, "Didn't you say you committed the crime alone?"
"But, this guy isn't as loyal as you."
"After he came to the investigation team's interrogation room, he confessed the entire process of your two's joint robbery and murder in less than ten minutes."
After a long pause, Wang Chuang smiled, "Officer, I already admitted to the robbery and murder; why are you still after this guy?"
Mr Li asked, "Oh? Do you know this guy?"
Wang Chuang nodded, "We're from the same village, how could I not know him?"
Then, Mr Li asked word by word, "Are you accomplices?"
"Haha, officer, you're really good at joking."
With a slight pause, Wang Chuang muttered, "I wish I had such an accomplice; maybe my number tag wouldn't have been left at the scene."
Mr. Zhao's hands clenched instantly, the veins on the back of his hands bulged.
"You're talking nonsense!"
"He is your accomplice!"
Seeing that Mr. Zhao was about to throw a punch, Mr Li quickly pulled him aside.
Wang Chuang raised his head slightly, "What? Planning to hit me?"
"You think I don't dare?"
"Even without uniform, I'll send you to jail."
Mr Li quickly patted Mr. Zhao's shoulder.
"Mr. Zhao, calm down."
Mr. Zhao gave Mr Li a helpless look, his eyes bloodshot.
The whole state resembled a beast trapped in a cage.
Then, Mr Li spoke, "There are two suspects at this first crime scene; you're just one of them."
