Chapter 927: Setting Sail - 927
He felt the Magic circle on his back pulsing with a new form of power. He called it Space Mana. Mana was the term he had given the ambient energy in the air.
Fire Mana was what went into Fire Magic, Water Mana into Water Magic, and so on. The Space Mana was taken directly from space itself and imbued into his back. Theoretically, this would allow him to step beyond the world and into space. After fully healing, he did not hesitate at all. As he stepped past the film that separated the world from space, he felt something akin to a refreshing breeze.
In addition, the scenery changed. It had simply looked like stars and empty space before, but he could now see visible structures floating in space and what seemed to be habitable planets.
There were also spaceships and flying beings far, far away. There was nobody near his planet. Something seemed to be keeping them away.
The closest thing was some sort of giant pavilion that had a bunch of people coming in and out of it.
Fa Zhu did not hesitate. He waved his wand and created wind, making him fly at a great speed. But it felt like no matter how fast he moved, the giant pavilion did not get closer. Looking back, it looked like he had barely moved away from the planet.
He understood he simply would not be able to travel in a meaningful way like this. But he surely wasn't going to just turn around and head back to the world. He saw something rotating around the world from a distance. It was the moon.
He decided that would be his target. It wasn't very close, but it wouldn't take long to reach it.
After a while, he did reach it. It was just an empty wasteland. There was nothing special about it besides the weaker gravity.
He needed practice using spells in space anyway.
It did take a bit of getting used to, as there were no elements around him. There was always some fire on his planet, always some water, either in the ground or in the air, always wind, and always earth.
But here, there was none of that.
He had to adjust. There were always traces of Mana in the air.
After getting used to it, he tried using Space Mana. It was a bit harder to shape into a spell. It simply acted differently than the other Mana he had interacted with before. But he felt that it would be the key to moving around these large distances.
Time passed as he practiced and practiced. No matter how much time passed, nobody came near.
His sixth Magic circle eventually formed, and he grew even more powerful. He focused most on methods of transportation so that he could move around space.
After he got used to the new power the sixth Magic circle brought him, he moved towards the pavilion in the distance.
He cast a spell, and a giant green ship made of Wind Mana appeared. He stepped on it, and it began to move. Wind moved through the sails, and Space Mana propelled him forward even faster.
It almost seemed as if he was blinking through space as he moved.
This took quite a drain on his Mana pool, but he would be fine.
He regenerated almost as much as used. In order to recover it, he just slowed down the ship a bit.
The giant pavilion in the distance closed in. He estimated it would take a year until he reached it. This sounded like a lot, but on a Universe scale, it was almost nothing. Based on units made by humans, the pavilion was around 100 light years away.
This meant he was going around 100 times the speed of light.
Once again, on a Universe scale, this was nothing.
He practiced his Magic as he moved.
When he reached the point around 10 light years away from his world, it disappeared.
It seemed like it was hidden within some form of Magic circle or something. He really didn't know. This was very far beyond him.
As he moved, someone in the distance spotted him. Although that being wouldn't usually pay much attention to anyone moving, Fa Zhu's method was a bit unique. He had never seen anything like it.
The man moved forward and took a step. He instantly appeared on the ship. Fa Zhu was stunned. He didn't instantly react, instead cautiously looking at the man and preparing himself.
This was his first time interacting with a non mortal.
"What technique is this?" The man asked.
"I call it the Space Ship." Fa Zhu said.
"A pretty basic and boring name. Where did you learn it?" The man asked.
"I created it." Fa Zhu said.
The man was a bit surprised. "Really? It doesn't seem like someone as young and weak as you could create such an advanced technique."
Fa Zhu shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know what else to tell you. Is there something you would prefer to hear?"
The man was stunned for a moment before laughing.
"You are interesting, where are you headed?" The man asked.
Fa Zhu pointed at the giant pavilion in the distance.
"Why are you headed there?"
"It's nearby. I don't know much about where I am right now."
"Are you lost?"
"Something like that." Fa Zhu responded.
"Alright then, why don't you come somewhere with me. One of my old friends has a pretty powerful sect, and you could take the entrance exam."
"I don't really feel like doing all of that. I usually work alone." Fa Zhu said plainly.
"Then how about I at least take you to a super world." The man suggested.
"A super world?"
"Yes. A super world is a world with at least one immortal on it. The nearest one is a few galaxies away, but I can bring you there in just a few minutes."
Fa Zhu had a brief idea about what galaxies were based on observations made over the years, and he knew that there was no way he could travel across a galaxy in a time period less than a thousand years.
