Chapter 36: Trinity
I closed my eyes hoping for a swift death.
BANG!
I waited for the pain...
But it never came.
Instead, I felt a strange lightness like I was floating in the air.
Is this what my father described as heaven?
No but that can't be right... I heard heaven was bright with golden gates that used clouds as flooring.
"Are you alright?"
"...!"
Hearing a persons voice, I opened my eyes and found myself cradled in someone's arms.
I felt their warmth enveloped me, the feeling of fear was gone and all I could think of is how grateful I am to this person.
I'm alive... is this real?
I looked up and saw him.
A boy, close to my age, with hair as white as snow and eyes that shone like sapphires.
He was carrying me, holding me close, like a princess in a fairytale.
I couldn't help but stare at him. The boy who held me was unlike anyone I had ever seen.
"Who are you?"
I tried to clear up the tears in my eyes but he looked down at me with a smile.
"No one of importance,"
His words sparked a strange mix of emotions within me.
I was disappointed that I couldn't get his name but I couldn't care less.
I still felt like I was in heaven with the way we were floating.
As I studied him, I noticed something peculiar.
The mana around him seemed to warp and twist, converging into tiny bursts of electricity that sparked around his body.
HEUP!
He landed gracefully on the roof of the carriage and safely put me down.
His eyes weren't focused on me but on Bonrick, but for some reason I felt safe.
"You saved me... why-"
"There's no time for explanations, you need to get out of here."
He cut me off, speaking in a serious tone while jumping off the carriage.
"Oi, Mister get out of the bush remember what I said right?"
"Ah, yes, yes!"
A guard who was hidden within the bushes rushed out and ran towards the front of the carriage.
"You better do as I told you and if you run off again you'll know what happens next."
EEEK!
"The horses right I'll get to it!"
He gave a rather menacing look to the guard and then turned his head back to me.
"I'm glad that you're safe..." His expression seemed relived but as his head turned towards Ezekiel it dropped to a grim face.
"So I'll hold him off, please tell the guard to lead you to Amberton town."
I wanted to argue, to ask him how he planned to face that monster alone.
Diana wanted to argue, to ask how he planned to face that monster alone.
But something in his gaze was a quiet confidence that silenced her.
So she simply nodded, hoping they would meet again.
"Thank you..." she whispered.
Diana climbed into the carriage were Leanne resided.
After a quick check to ensure Leanne was still breathing, she told the guard to leave for Amberton Town.

Julian sprinted through the moonlit forest, following the trail of a single hairpiece that belonged to Ezekiel. He had found it outside the Strata Veil Serfdom, and the faint trace of mana led him straight to the forest.
"Damn it... he's just like who he is in the novel. a reckless bastard."
Julian had grown fond of Ezekiel over the past few weeks. He couldn't afford to lose him now. He leaped from tree to tree, his enhanced senses searching for any sign of his friend.
ROOOOOAR!
Then a deafening roar was heard throughout the night it was loud enough to reach Oakwood Town.
It must've came from there!
Julian changed direction as his anxiety continued to grow with each passing second.
As he drew closer, his body grew heavy. He had been running at high speeds for too long.
I can't keep going...
He gasped for air, his muscles burning.
This won't do...
WHOOSH!
Suddenly a blue screen materialized before his eyes and he was greeted with the System's familiar interface.
[Your body is reacting to a strange phenomenon...]
Confusion gripped him.
What was happening?
Then another notification flashed across his vision.
[??? has blessed you with a vision...]
Within the blink of an eye, a horrifying image filled his mind.
-It's over...
Diana uttered her last words and she was impaled by a monstrous claw, then what followed after was the beast then feasted on Ezekiel's dead body.
"Julian...Julian...JULIAN!"
"...!"
The vision vanished, and Julian was on his feet again. "I need to keep... going..."
He pushed himself harder, his muscles screaming to stop.
But he had to find them, had to save them. He couldn't bear the guilt if they died because of him.
BRUSH...RUSH...RUSH
"Ah, I need to get out of here!" a male guard shouted, running towards Julian.
Reacting quickly, Julian threw a light jab to his chest, sending him sprawling to the ground.
ACKK!!
The guard coughed up blood.
"You! Are you with that blond-haired kid?!"
"What if I am?" Julian retorted and his crimson eyes glowed with a killing intent.
EEEK!
The guard cowered under the immense pressure and simply gulped.
Thirty seconds later...
"Okay! Okay! Just head in that direction, and I'll follow you!"
The guard begged, struggling in Julian's grasp.
RAH!!!
Another roar pierced the air, followed by a surge of mana.
That feint trace... I need to go now.
"Follow me now, or I'll find you later," Julian warned, releasing the guard.
"OKAY, I GET IT! LET ME GO!" the guard screamed.
Julian dropped the guard and dashed through the woods.
As the trees thinned, he saw a monstrous figure charging towards a lone girl sitting in a clearing.
It was one of the main heroines of the novel Diana Florence.
"I won't make it! DAMN IT... I WON'T FUCKING MAKE IT!"
From every inch of strength and every inch of power, Julian gritted his teeth and his veins popped in spite of rage.
wom...
Then suddenly a pulse ran through his body, and a feint heartbeat ignited within him, unlike any he had felt before.
It was as if the mana that flowed within him, the blood that circulated throughout his body, had reached a perfect state of synchronization.
WOM...

Without hesitation, Julian exploded forward, his speed surpassing human limitations.
Before Bonrick's claws could reach the tip of Diana's nose, Julian scooped her up, and leaped into the sky.
