Chapter 123 The Demon Behind Annabelle
"It's Annabelle!"
Mia hugged her daughter and took several frantic steps back, stopping only when she bumped into the bookshelf.
"Don't worry, don't be scared." Chu Feng waved his hand gently, indicating Mia shouldn't panic, then walked directly to the doorway and picked up the doll.
"How can you bring such an ugly doll home?"
After giving the doll a quick once-over, Chu Feng genuinely found it hard to believe the Mia family's aesthetic taste.
"Uh... I think it's okay..."
Holding her daughter, Mia glanced at the Annabelle doll in Chu Feng's hands, then thought of the wall of dolls she had before, an embarrassed expression on her face.
"Truly bizarre taste!"
At this, Chu Feng shook his head and was about to walk out the door with Annabelle in hand.
"Mr. Chu Feng, where are you going?" Mia quickly asked, seeing that Chu Feng was leaving. It was clear that after what had just happened, she was now somewhat reluctant to stay alone in the room.
"To dispose of it, of course!" Chu Feng raised the ugly doll in his hand and then walked out of the study.
Taking the doll downstairs, Chu Feng looked at Annabelle, which showed no reaction, and smiled. "Pretty tolerant, huh!"
He walked out to the street below the apartment building. Glancing at the occasional passersby and vehicles, he frowned. This really isn't a good place! Oh well, I can't worry about that now...
With a flip of his palm, a handgun instantly appeared. He pointed the muzzle skyward, his index finger quickly pulling the trigger.
BANG! BANG! BANG! The crisp sound of gunshots instantly echoed through the entire street.
Soon, not a single pedestrian or vehicle could be seen on the street where Chu Feng stood!
Chu Feng looked at the handgun and said with a smile, "Indeed, a good method for clearing the area!"
"Alright, the bystanders have been cleared. Isn't it about time for you to come out?"
Pocketing the handgun, Chu Feng tossed Annabelle onto the ground and forcefully stomped down with his foot, which radiated a golden glow.
THUD!
A heavy thud sounded as Annabelle's doll body sank into the cement street.
Lifting his foot, Chu Feng sneered as he looked at Annabelle in the crater, who was now just a bit dirtier.
THUD!
Another thunderous noise followed, and Annabelle's doll body sank further down.
"If you don't come out now, I'll really destroy this doll!"
The slender Demon Hunting Blade had already appeared in Chu Feng's hand. As Spiritual Power surged within him, a blazing red glow emanated from its edge.
Chu Feng moved his right foot, revealing the doll beneath the ground. He then inverted the blade in his hand, aiming it straight at Annabelle in the crater.
"So, goodbye!"
The long blade in his hand fell instantly, its searing glow rushing toward the doll.
"Enough! You damn Exorcist!" A hoarse roar suddenly erupted, and Annabelle in the pit vanished in an instant.
"You sure can endure! You wouldn't come out unless it was a life-or-death situation, huh?" Chu Feng said as he watched a dark figure slowly rise not far away, lightly twirling the Demon Hunting Blade in his hand with a flourish.
"I originally didn't want any conflict with you, but you, human, don't seem to appreciate my kindness!"
The Demon's hoarse voice was filled with barely suppressed fury.
The Demon that had risen to its feet was covered in black-green scales and protruding keratinous spikes. It had a somewhat slender figure. Its ferocious face was crisscrossed with deep ravines, and it had a mouth full of interlocking sharp teeth. A pair of pitch-black, curved goat horns stood on either side of its forehead, and the black beard on its chin bore a striking resemblance to that of a real goat. Its somewhat bloodshot eyes were fixed intently on Chu Feng's figure.
"F**K, is that a Bizarre creature or a Demon?"
"Who cares what it is? Just run!"
From the buildings on either side, people who had been sneaking peeks through their windows down onto the street below, hoping to see some excitement, never expected to witness a Demon make an appearance.
After the revival of the Bizarre, people had developed a set of behavioral norms for such supernatural occurrences. Barring a few reckless fools, most had their eyes widen in shock at the sight of the Demon's emergence, then immediately turned tail and fled.
"Damn it! I suggested a long time ago that we sign a resident contract with the Chu Feng Exorcism Agency. Those penny-pinchers didn't want to fork over the cash!"
"Stop talking, save your energy!" A neighbor, huffing and puffing alongside, felt a bit sheepish recalling how they had voted against it. "Besides, isn't that an Exorcist right there facing the Demon?"
"F**K, you idiot! Do you think any random Exorcist is Mr. Chu Feng?"
"Enough, shut your damn mouth!"
As the crowd scattered in all directions, Chu Feng and the Demon stood face to face at the foot of the apartment building where Gordon and Mia lived.
A car parked by the curb was suddenly sent flying towards Chu Feng by the Demon's power. WHOOSH! It hurtled towards him.
Seeing the incoming car, Chu Feng's body flashed with golden light, and in an instant, he disappeared. The car, missing its target, slammed into a nearby shop, causing a deafening crash.
The next second, Chu Feng, brandishing his long blade, had rushed close to the Demon, the blade shimmering with a red glow.
Facing the blade, now at close range, the Demon felt a scorching heat wash over it.
SIZZLE!
Bright sparks flew as the Demon's pitch-black claws collided with Chu Feng's Demon Hunting Blade for the first time.
The two figures crossed paths. It looked like an evenly matched fight, but only the Demon noticed the fresh notches on its claws. What a sharp blade! I can't clash head-on! With a surge of power from its hands, the Demon's slightly damaged claws instantly regenerated.
"Die!"
Chu Feng, having missed his first strike, charged again in the blink of an eye. He raised his long blade, which now carried a red arc, and brought it fiercely downwards.
Naturally, the Demon wasn't about to wait for death. Its ugly body vanished from the spot instantly.
BOOM! The Demon Hunting Blade, missing its target, crashed fiercely onto the concrete ground, kicking up a cloud of dust that obscured vision.
When a breeze swept away the blanket of dust, an oval-shaped crater emitting searing heat appeared in the center of the road.
"Pretty quick on your feet, aren't you!"
Chu Feng emerged from the dust, his left hand held behind him. He showed no sign of dust on his person. The long blade he gripped tightly gleamed like new, its cold light flashing under the sunlight.
The Demon eyed the crater behind Chu Feng and the energy swirling within it. Its pupils constricted, and it showed an inclination to retreat while cursing inwardly, Damn it, when did an Exorcist this powerful appear in the Human World?
"Exorcist," the Demon said, its voice still hoarse, "I acknowledge your strength. How about we stop this? I can give up on that woman's soul."
This Demon, who had been focusing on luring human souls through Annabelle dolls, seemed to have neglected outside information for quite some time. Or perhaps, it had never cared to begin with.
