Chapter 117: The Bizarre that Creates Illusions
"Ah? What?" Taran asked, equally surprised by Chu Feng's question.
"Over there~" Chu Feng gestured towards the barn. Following his direction, Taran vaguely made out a car hidden by the bushes ahead.
"That's not right. There was no car here last time we came. And who would be audacious enough to come here?" Taran frowned as he spoke. Four people had died on this farm. Any sensible person would avoid it; who would dare come near?
"Looks like we have uninvited guests! I'll go check it out, and then we'll know." Chu Feng fiddled with the black box on his chest, made sure it was secure, then strode towards the farm.
"Okay, I'll wait for you here." After a light nod, Taran turned and got back into the car.
The wooden cabin Chu Feng was headed to was situated behind the barn, so his path would inevitably take him past the red barn.
As Chu Feng drew nearer, four dim glows from within the barn appeared one by one in his Spiritual Perception.
Ordinary people? Truly audacious! Chu Feng made his judgment almost subconsciously.
When he reached the door of the red barn, a foul odor assailed him, instantly reminding him of his first night in New York.
Crimson bloodstains on the seats of the car parked before the barn door caught Chu Feng's attention.
What's this? Chu Feng wondered, his gaze fixed on the bloodstains.
Instantly sensing something was wrong, Chu Feng walked directly to the back of the car and opened the trunk. A woman's blood-soaked corpse lay inside.
Just as I suspected... he thought.
Turning to look at the barn, he peeked through a gap in the door. The chaotic scene inside made Chu Feng frown instantly.
Four addicts courting death?
Inside the barn, three men and one woman, their expressions bizarre, writhed on the ground in a state of ecstasy. Syringes and similar paraphernalia were scattered around them.
"You being alive is truly a waste of food!" Chu Feng despised addicts and gamblers more than anything. He yanked open the large barn doors and strode inside.
The sound of the heavy doors failed to stir the four people inside.
Chu Feng had intended to deal with the four immediately, but he suddenly remembered the recorder on his chest.
Troublesome...
He stopped at the doorway, thought for a moment, then flipped his palm. A purple crystal instantly appeared in his hand.
Since you all enjoy this feeling so much, I'll give you a helping hand! he thought. This flawed Heart of Seduction shouldn't be wasted on trash like them. Besides, just holding it and giving it a little shake doesn't count as using it.
A slight shake had once been enough to affect even me; Chu Feng refused to believe these addicts could withstand that Strength.
With a mere thought, Spiritual Power surged through his body, and his spiritual power formed a protective barrier around his brain. Only then did Chu Feng's lowered right hand begin to sway gently.
An invisible wave instantly spread from the purple crystal, encompassing the entire barn.
"MMM~ AAH~" Moans escaped the lips of the four on the ground.
Their faces, already crimson for some unknown reason, contorted as they reached for the nearest person.
It wasn't just the four people on the ground; various insects, rats, and ants that had appeared from nowhere were now also piling on top of each other.
Chu Feng, having anticipated the ensuing scene, quickly turned, left the barn, and slammed the large doors shut behind him.
"Dammit, my eyes are tainted!"
「...」
Trying hard to forget everything that had happened in the barn, Chu Feng walked directly towards the elegant wooden cabin behind it.
As soon as he pushed open the cabin's wooden door, a living room seemingly full of life greeted Chu Feng's eyes.
To the right of the entrance, a brick-and-stone fireplace crackled with vigorous flames, radiating a warm glow.
Opposite the fireplace, the television was broadcasting New York's weather forecast for the day.
At some point, a fluffy white dog had appeared at Chu Feng's feet, barking at him, "WOOF, WOOF!"
There's no invasion of Bizarre Strength in my mind, so is this an illusion directly manifested from Bizarre energy? Chu Feng mused.
With a thought, a golden light flashed at his feet. Chu Feng lifted his leg and kicked at the small white dog still barking incessantly beside him.
Without a sound, Chu Feng's foot passed straight through the white dog's body, which dissolved into a cloud of gray smoke.
So, it's all fake, huh? Observing that all the furnishings in the room glowed faintly within his Spiritual Perception, Chu Feng nodded slightly.
Spiritual Power surged within him. With a soft cry from Chu Feng, a wave of Spiritual Power instantly spread out, annihilating all Bizarre Strength in its path and causing it to dissipate.
The true appearance of the living room slowly revealed itself as the Bizarre energy vanished.
There were no flames in the fireplace, only a pile of cold ashes. The wall of the fireplace even bore the pockmarks of a shotgun blast.
The television that had been broadcasting the weather forecast was now shattered into pieces on the floor.
As for the fluffy white dog, its corpse still lay quietly on the living room carpet.
On the living room wall, an antique-looking crucifix spun silently, as if it had once again reached the moment to hang inverted.
"You've finally shown yourself!"
An Evil Spirit brazenly passed through the ceiling and landed in the center of the living room, directly in Chu Feng's line of sight.
The Evil Spirit's limbs, like withered branches, splayed out to its sides like a spider's. Its body was wreathed in a thin, gray mist. It rotated its head a full circle, and its murky eyes fixed their gaze on Chu Feng.
A dense gray mist billowed out from beneath it. In the blink of an eye, the living room reverted to its previous cozy appearance.
The Bizarre that had been lying on the ground transformed, and a beautiful, gentle-looking blonde woman suddenly appeared in the center of the living room.
"Seriously? You're just going to transform right in front of me like that?"
Chu Feng watched the Bizarre transform so openly with immense surprise. He now suspected it was trying to fool him, treating him like an idiot.
Hearing Chu Feng's words, the beautiful smile that had just graced the blonde woman's face froze.
She stiffly lowered her head and looked at the unchanged mist around her. Her entire form then collapsed, dissolving into a dense fog that filled the living room.
Although the door remained wide open, the Bizarre mist didn't disperse outside. Instead, it churned within the small confines of the living room.
The dense mist carried Bizarre Strength and even seemed to faintly attempt to suppress Chu Feng's Spiritual Perception.
"Not bad. It seems you're evolving into an Evil Spirit!"
Chu Feng's body trembled slightly, and the gray mist that had been slowly coiling around him like a serpent instantly disintegrated and vanished.
