Chapter 3
The roaring fire consumed the courtyard, its crackling and collapsing wood eliciting a flamboyant, wicked laugh from the girl in the goose-yellow skirt. Her eyes gleamed with malice.
A circle of onlookers surrounded the girl, but no one made an effort to extinguish the fire, for she was its instigator.
“Second Miss, that useless girl is now gone for good. She won’t be a thorn in your side anymore,” a maid commented with a fawning smile.
“Hmph. Jun Jiu was nothing but a disgrace to my Jun family, dragging our name through the mud. We don’t want her, and I won’t shed a tear if we’re separated. My older sister had the right idea this time. After all, who would care about the death of a failure like her!”
“Second Miss, please rest assured. This servant will spread the word. We’ll say that Jun Jiu accidentally knocked over a candlestick and set herself on fire.” The girl gave the maid an approving look. “You, humble servant, are quite clever. Thanks to the poison you administered to Jun Jiu, her death went unnoticed. I shall reward you generously.”
“Thank you, Second Lady!” The maid kowtowed in gratitude.
As she was about to rise, the maid suddenly looked up and saw something that left her eyes wide and her face drained of color. “Ghost! Ghost! Second Miss, look!”
“Why are you screaming like that? Where would a ghost come from in broad daylight… Ah!” The girl let out a terrified scream when she turned to find Jun Jiu.
Jun Jiu stood beneath a peach blossom tree, her gaze playful and icy as she observed them.
The girl was Jun Qianqian, the second young lady of the Jun family, and the maid was Bi Luo. Together, they had conspired to murder the previous owner of Jun Jiu’s body.
Jun Qianqian stared at Jun Jiu, rendered speechless. “You, you, you…”
“What’s the matter? Don’t you recognize me?” Jun Jiu inquired.
“Jun Jiu! How can you be here? I’ll personally drug you and toss you off the cliff. You should have been devoured by wolves by now! You can’t be here! You’re supposed to be dead!”
Snap!
The sound of a resounding slap filled the air.
Jun Qianqian covered her face, her eyes wide with disbelief, still reeling from the shock.
Snap!
Another slap.
Jun Jiu shook her hand and regarded Jun Qianqian with a playful expression. “Can a dead person hit you?”
“Ah! Jun Jiu, you dare to strike me, you wretched… Ah!” Jun Jiu delivered a punch to Jun Qianqian’s abdomen, causing her to double over in agony.
Then, Jun Jiu seized Jun Qianqian by the neck and lifted her up. “I don’t appreciate people hurling insults at me. If I hear another word from you, I’ll cut out your tongue.”
Jun Qianqian stared at her in sheer disbelief, wide-eyed and trembling.
Their eyes locked, and Jun Qianqian quivered with fear. Those eyes were terrifying! Even more so than when her elder sister was enraged.
Could this truly be Jun Jiu? No, Jun Jiu must be dead. She couldn’t have survived the cliff. This had to be a ghost! Jun Jiu had transformed into a vengeful spirit, here to exact revenge!
Jun Qianqian exclaimed, “You’re a ghost! Jun Jiu, you’re a failure even as a ghost, come on, bring fire and burn her to death!” Only then did the servants come to their senses
. Shouting and rushing over.
The corners of Jun Jiu’s mouth hooked slightly, with a wild smile. She choked Jun Qianqian by the neck, threw her out like garbage, and knocked down several house slaves. Dodging, Jun Jiu rushed over.
This body is a little worn out. But she is the master Jun Jiu, no one understands the weaknesses of the human body better than her.
And point to a little numb point.
A handshake and a snap of the joint.
Damn it!
Everything is as fast as a gust of wind. In the blink of an eye, the slave fell to the ground. Wailing and screaming, he rolled around with his two severed hands.
Jun Jiu clapped his hands casually. Lifting his foot, he stepped on Jun Qianqian’s panicked face. “Jun Qianqian, you scolded me again. Cut off your tongue, I’m not joking.”
”Ah!”
