The Dungeon Tree

Chapter 38: The Final Challenge

"This is the final challenge before we begin the tournament. Just like last time we will divide you into teams. Each team will consist of eight people. Whichever team wins gets to go to the tournament. Now for your challenge, there are multiple ribbons hidden around the town all worth a small amount of points. Whichever team has the most points win." Daz said.

"So it's kind of like the first challenge we did but instead of headbands it's just ribbons hidden around the town." Steven said.

Before I could say anything to Steven, I heard my name being called from somewhere. I looked around to see who was calling me and saw Bubbles and Ellie waving at me and Steven.

"Now for our teams. We'll have the Silver Cloaks, Dungeon Crusaders, Twilight Cats, Red Daggers, Burst, Monster Hunters, Rising Phoenix, and Spider Tamers will be on blue team. For the red team, they will consist of the Melted Blades, Dark Light, Night Shifters, Rain Stars, Blue Oath, High Brand, Battlebane, and Ivorytalons. The challenge will begin in a couple of minutes." Daz said.

While we waited for the match to begin Ashe and Julia walked up to us. Jaeger and Holly were right behind them waving at us.

"Hey John, what team did you get put on? I'm part of the Dungeon Crusaders so that means I'm on blue team. Jaeger and Holly also got on blue team." Ashe said.

"I'm on the Silver Cloaks so that puts me on blue team as well. How convenient that we're all on the same team." I said, eyeing Ashe. I finally found the people who chose the Dungeon Crusaders as their guild name.

"Alright everyone, I hope you're ready for this challenge. We'll begin in three, two, one, go!" Daz yelled.

"Let's travel in teams of two, just in case someone decides to attack us and steal our ribbons." I said. Everyone nodded and ran in different directions with their guild mate.

Me, alongside Steven took to the roofs so we could get a better vantage point. The streets seemed to be completely empty. I looked at Steven and saw how he looked as confused as me. Before I could continue looking through the town, I heard a strange voice telling me something I couldn't make out.

"Hey Steven, did you hear a voice just now? I swear I just heard something talk to me but I couldn't make it out." I asked Steven.

Steven gave me a funny look for a moment and shook his head. The voice returned, this time I could understand it a little better.

"Check to your left idiot!"
