Chapter 309: The Impending Flames
"Rest it easy Dreamer." The voice was deep, piercing and powerful. I froze, and slowly turned to where I thought it came from.
There was no one where I looked, I turned to the dark spawn who was just a black goo at this point.
"Show yourself." I declared, still turning and drifting my eyes hoping to catch sight of them. Since they could tell my role, that meant they had the absolute appraisal ability, or something similar, which most likely made them a system participant just like I was, but I had a feeling that this one wasn't.
"Oh I will."
A chill ran through my spine, and my face wrinkled once I realized where the voice came from.
"Yes, up." It said with a slithery cunning voice this time.
There was a black face carpeting the roof of where I stood, and it fell. Like drops suspended. The drop morphed as it fell, taking the features of a man.
<Wyvern Blade> I summoned my trusty sword in my right hand and awaited.
"I am simply here to talk." The thing said as it descended, its feet touching the ground. My eyes moved higher and higher as I was caught surprised by its large, towering and majestic figure.
I brandished my sword, and held it in a stance, squinting my eyes with killing intent. The black thing raised its right hand, and honestly, I expected an attack to shoot out of it, but that didn't happen. Instead, it spoke.
"Mikey Rael, The dreamer. I…"
"You are not of the system. I can't read you." I interjected, feeling more suspicious now.
"Ohh, I am more crucial in all of this than you know. I think. My memory is hazy, but my body remembers, at least partly. My mind is the other part. I know I must give you something."
My interest was piqued, and I dropped my guard. It does seem that this thing wanted to talk, and though I couldn't read it with absolute appraisal, I could tell that it was strong. Much stronger than I was, which annoyed me more than it should have, however now, I wanted to listen to what it had to say.
It raised its index finger as if it wanted to make a point, when trumpets blew loudly
"What is that?" The trumpets continued, my attention was captured in that moment and when I turned back to the black thing, it was no more, and so was the dark spawn that was black goo.
I zoomed out of the palace to witness this phenomenon that has taken us by surprise. I met Francis and Lizbella hovering outside the palace, awaiting the arrival of creatures clad in white robes and humor on horses with wings.
Golden chariots carried the group. Francis mentioned a little group, but their numbers was much more than little to me, they were plenty enough to subjugate the royal capital even before the siege that laid waste to it.
The army stopped, but they remained levitating. One however came to us, they were the biggest of the group, and they had the largest chariot and horses.
They stopped meters away from us, and got off their chariot. Soon, they were just inches away from us three, and they beat their chest in a particular rhythm.
"Under the grace and order of Priestess Reinarlaxes Tuymulamabib Geignes, may her reign be long, we are sworn to offer military assistance to the people, and some of the food we were able to bring with us."
I glanced at Francis, and he did the same. It seemed like we both didn't expect them to keep their words.
"We appreciate this gesture. The generosity of the Eastern Theocracy is a great good in the world." Francis spoke.
Since all of the alliance except of course Francis and Lizbella were dead, the menial labour of moving the supplies was automatically delegated to us.
I simply stored most of them in my personal space and then released them in the palace. Francis and Lizbella did the same until all that was for us was taken.
The people's eyes were fixated on us as we moved the supplies, and though they were mightily afraid of our might, their hunger and want was even greater, and so they stormed the palace.
However, Francis was able to close off the palace with the help of an artifact, creating an energy field around parts of the palace that connected to the throne room where the supplies were.
We were trying to decide on the order of distribution when we all simultaneously felt a disturbance. Something alien and powerful was making its way here. The Eastern Theocracy army must have noticed this as well, as their Pegasi neighed violently.
"This was going to happen sooner or later." A voice we had not expected spoke. We turned to see Park sitting up. The disturbance must have pulled him out of his coma.
"Park!" Francis yelled.
"I'm surprisingly alive." He claimed looking at his scarred arms.
"Lizbella, feed him. We will check out this disturbance."
Lizbella nodded to this, and we both teleported away.
The sky was fiery red once more, and there was a massive black crack running through the sky and from it poured wyverns, dragons, dragon kin, and demons.
At the center of this crack, I saw him with his number of dragon lords, the Dragon God. His focus was on the Eastern Theocracy army, and I could see the haughty smirk on his face.
"Charge!" The commander of the battalion roared, and his men charged at the horde of new enemies.
I said to Francis, "Watch my back, and I will watch yours."
He nodded, and we both charged at the battle.
Below, hidden behind the walls of the castle stood Kollungr. He stared through the wall, watching the great fight unfold. His mouth slowly curled as he uttered the words, "I remember now. I remember what I must do. I must save us all."
