The Devil's Sweetheart

Out of blue, someone appeared in front of Leena startling her. Her happy mood turned bilious watching the annoying woman standing in front of her with a dippy smile.

"Hey, crazy Leena. Why aren't you answering my messages? I have sent over hundreds. I should be your priority." Licking and slurping her lollipop a woman stood in front of Leena blocking her path.

"Either eat and speak or speak and eat. You are spraying." Caning her, Leena tried to walk away but her track was again stopped by her.

"Always jealous of my beauty." Pointing towards a certain direction, Wendy added. "I like him. If you dare to snatch him away, I will kill you this time."

Leena's gaze followed her and smiled seeing him capture the scenic beauty in his camera. This half baked potato has set eyes on Mr. Adonis? Leena wanted to roll on the floor laughing.

"Listen carefully Miss pea brain. In this lifetime and in your next life and even in the next, there is not even a slight chance for you and he would never like you. By any chance, if he likes you, I will become the villain of your story to separate you both." Leena roasted her. She dared to admit, there is no match for him. Be it his gentleman character or his stunning looks, he is just him.

"What did you say?" Wendy angrily rebuked. How dare this little one. She is not even half my size.

"Quiet! Go and poke him." Pointing her hand towards dancing Salsa, Leena added. "He is in the dire situation of a bride and you both make a wonderful couple."

She walked away not minding the raging women.

Leena was strolling in the garden in no mood to go and brandish her beauty after seeing that annoying pest.

"Look! They are playing basketball."

"Let's go there. My boyfriend is a very good player."

"I just love to watch that sport. It reminds my University days."

Listening to the two women's conversation, her memories of University days started to resurface.

Wearing glasses on her tired face, a girl was sitting in a lab, her hands swiftly moved in the keyboard debugging the stacks of code as if her head is directly going into the system. She was in her own world until her name was called by someone.

"Hey, Leena! What are you doing here alone in the lab when everyone is in court? The most anticipating basketball match is almost winding up and we are on the winning end." A girl rushed to call her for the match. She was asked by one of her seniors to get Leena into the court at any cost. The reason, she did not know.

"Not interested." With that, Leena resumed her work again, and when she thought the girl has gone already, there was another one.

"Leena! Someone asked me to bring you to the basketball court urgently."

"I have already informed the other girl! I am not coming." She said with gritted teeth and tried to focus on her work, but Leena was interrupted again and again until her energy got depleted answering them.

"Who the hell wants me there when I don't even know basketball." Leena angrily got up from her seat and went out to send some sense into that person's brain.

Just when Leena started heading in the direction of the indoor court, she could faintly hear voices from there.

"We have won the game."

"It was a very tough competition."

"Leena! Here." Reese and Jane were screaming at the top of their lungs when Leena was looking here and there clueless.

"You are late. It was a mind-blowing match." Saying that Reese moved to her right so that Leena could sit.

"It was just an average." Jane countered her.

"No it was not," Reese said.

"Can you both stop your_"

"Good evening Ladies and gentlemen, our respected officials and the talented athletes. Basketball is our university fame and we have uplifted the title again. Tonight, I am honored to congratulate the winning basketball team for pulling out such a fabulous show. I now welcome the captain and the game turner of the show Ethan Davies on to the stage." The host proudly announced to the gathering.

"ETHAN! ETHAN! ETHAN!" The crowd cheered with placards waiting for his arrival and then he appeared slowly.

A tall figure emerged out from the gathering and walked onto the stage with confidence smiling at everyone, but his eyes were searching for one girl. When he found her sitting with friends, he excitedly went in sensing that she is seeing him.

Finally, the most anticipated moment the audience was looking forward has arrived when Ethan took over the mic from the host to address the crowd.

"To all my fans! Thanks for cheering me up. I am very happy to drive the team successfully." He went on. " And I would like to make an important announcement today."

"To the girl in blue." He pointed his winning cup in a certain direction. Everybody followed his gaze holding their breaths. Hundreds of thoughts were running over their minds

"Leena, is he referring to you?" Reese and Jane whispered. Leena frowned looking at the smirking man. What is this useless fellow up to?

"I am chasing over the girl in a blue dress. I have seen many guys following behind her. So I am making an official announcement here. She is mine and if anybody has other intentions, back off right now." Ethan smiled mischievously at the bewildered girl.

Their buzzing court has turned into pin-drop silence. Just when they were celebrating their winning victory, Ethan threw a bomb of his love confession. He is the most sought out handsome man from the famous Davies family and many thought the girl is lucky to have him. Some looked at her with disdain for seducing their crush.

"I am surprised you still haven't learned the meaning of rejection Mr who so ever you are." Breaking the silence, Leena blatantly rejected and walked out. Jane and Reese silently followed Leena scornfully looking at his smug smile.

"Did she reject Ethan Davies? She sure has some guts." A girl chided her.

"But why is Ethan smiling?"

"She is not even beautiful. She should be happy for getting a proposal from my crush at least." A girl looked at the retreating woman scornfully.

"eena."

"Leena."

"Leena. Are you there?" Leena jolted from her stupor looking at her surroundings. Recalling him is a nightmare.

"I have been calling you for a long time," Kyle asked looking at her dejected face. Did something happen suddenly?

"Sorry. I was just off." She smiled gazing at a distance. Unconsciously Leena's eyes moved in a certain direction.. Her jaw dropped looking at the sight of a man pulling out the basketball game like a pro.
