Chapter 1: The Echo of a Broken World
**The Cursed Talent**
**Part 1: The Echo of a Broken World**
Aki had always known he was different. From a young age, he discovered his ability to fix things—simple things at first. A shattered toy, a broken vase, a torn piece of fabric. But as the years passed, the scope of his talent grew. He could mend anything. Machines, wounds, even hearts. He became renowned for his skill, and the world soon learned that Aki was no ordinary person. He was a savior, a healer, a miracle worker.
But miracles come at a cost.
For every repair Aki performed, a piece of him slipped away. It started with fatigue, a nagging exhaustion that never seemed to go away. Then came the headaches—sharp, intense, and unrelenting. When he repaired a broken limb, a part of his own body felt the strain. When he healed someone's emotional scars, his own memories began to fade. It was subtle at first, easy to ignore. But the price was real, and it was only a matter of time before the cost became too much to bear.
At first, Aki didn't understand why this was happening. He thought he was just tired from working too much. But as his repairs became more frequent and his energy drained quicker, he realized the truth: every time he fixed something, he was paying with his life. His gift was cursed.
Despite this, he couldn't stop. The world depended on him. People came to him with desperate pleas for help, and he couldn't turn them away. A broken city, a shattered economy, and countless people on the verge of despair—Aki was their last hope. And so, he kept going, repairing what was broken, never allowing himself to rest. But with each repair, his life ticked away, and the truth gnawed at him.
One day, an urgent call came from a distant part of the country. A major disaster had struck—a collapsed building with dozens trapped beneath the rubble. They needed Aki's help. It was the kind of situation where no one else could offer a solution. With the clock ticking, Aki rushed to the site, his heart heavy with the weight of the choice that lay ahead.
As he arrived at the disaster zone, the scene was as grim as he had feared. Crumbled walls, shattered glass, and the cries of the trapped echoed through the wreckage. Aki knew he had to act fast, or more lives would be lost. Without hesitation, he began to work, repairing broken support beams and pulling people from the debris. He could feel his strength draining with each repair, his body screaming in protest, but he pushed on.
Hours passed, and Aki's hands shook with exhaustion. His vision blurred, his head spun, but he couldn't stop. The survivors needed him. He fixed a broken limb here, a crushed rib there. He stitched together lives and mended bodies, all the while feeling his own body eroding. But the more he gave, the less he had to give.
At the end of the day, when the last person had been saved and the wreckage was cleared, Aki collapsed, unable to move. His heart raced, his breath shallow. The world had been saved, but at what cost? He lay there, staring up at the sky, wondering how much longer he could continue. How many more repairs could he make before there would be nothing left of him?
In the silence that followed the chaos, Aki made a decision. He couldn't keep going like this. But there was no way out. The world depended on him. And he could never abandon them.
But what if he could find a way to end the curse? What if there was a way to repair himself, to reverse the damage done?
Aki closed his eyes, exhausted but determined. The journey ahead would not be easy. But he had no choice. If he was to save the world, he had to save himself first.
And so, the search for a cure began.
