Chapter 87: Memories end
The woman who actually brought him into this world started bowing in front of hundreds of cameras and started shouting. "Everyone, it is my fault that I did not teach my son properly. No, that vermin is no longer related to me from this moment on. If only I knew early that he would turn out like this, I myself would have ended that miserable life."
She paused for a bit as Xane felt her gaze on him.
He knew she knew what she was doing, but she never stopped. In front of the fluttering cameras, she continued to scream. "I agree with the court's decision that a demon like him should never be allowed to see the sunlight again."
"Once the investigation concludes, I request the senior judge to deliver the highest possible judgment. Set an example out of this demon. He should face the death penalty."
"He should die!"
"He should die!"
Those words echoed inside Xane's head.
Each one created a new hole in his heart. Not long after, he just stopped struggling altogether and was pushed into the van.
Time continued to pass, and before long, the guard once again took him back to the same cell.
This time, all of them smiled at him. They were waiting for his return.
As Xane looked at them, for a fleeting moment, the thought of ending his own life flashed through his head. Would dying save me from the torture? What was even the point of living right now? Everything was already over.
Nothing could save him now. Even if these charges were dropped against him, he knew he could never reverse those eyes onto him. All of them wanted him dead.
At that moment, the guard pushed him from behind. "Come on, inmate, don't waste my time."
Xane turned to look at the guard blankly. This guy also wanted him to die, right? The guard seemed annoyed by his look and directly pushed him into the cell.
Xane did not resist and just stared at the other five before him. These guys also wanted to see him dead.
Xane glanced outside the cell, as he was sure those guys would also cheer for his death. He looked down at the messy floor that still had stains of blood from the past week.
He could see himself begging for forgiveness. Was there anyone who wanted to see him alive?
All the familiar faces flashed through his head as he already knew the answer.
At this time, the guard removed the handcuffs from his hands. Not wasting any moment, Roan placed a hand over his shoulder and asked, "So, how was the outside trip?"
Lost in his own thoughts, a question suddenly emerged in his head. What do I want?
He turned to look up at Roan and asked again, "What do I want?"
Roan tilted his head in confusion. Another guy beside him sneered. "Did this one already break?"
Not caring about the others' response, Xane once again asked. "What's the point of living? Why do I want to live?"
The five before him looked at each other and sneered at him.
Xane saw their faces overlapping with the hundreds of people he had just seen.
This sent a jolt through his body as a black face emerged inside his mind.
That was the face of the accuser. She was smiling at him.
A thought emerged in his mind. Won't my death make her happy? No, I won't give her that satisfaction.
A glint flashed through his eyes as he looked at the five guys.
If he died at their hands, she would be super happy.
But what if the opposite happened? Would she still smile?
He knew whether he died by himself or killed these guys and then died by law, both would lead to her victory. But did it matter? If he had to die anyway, wouldn't it be better to take these guys with him?
As he thought of that, a smile formed on Xane's face, and he started giggling. "Hehehe." It was low at first, but then switched to full laughter. "Hahaha!"
Roan and the others frowned, but their reaction actually excited him.
Roan was about to grip his neck when Xane suddenly turned to him. "Hey, why should I die alone?"
Before Roan could react, Xane ruthlessly lunged at his neck. Like a mindless beast, he bit the front of Roan's neck.
Roan was first to react as he tried to push his head away and shouted, "What the fck, you beast!"
This snapped the others out of their stupor, and each of them rushed to grab Xane.
Xane ruthlessly bit with his full jaw strength. He could feel his tough teeth sinking deep into the hot, soft flesh.
Not long after, warm blood gushed into his mouth. But what excited him more were those eyes. They were different from the cold, amused eyes that treated his life as a toy.
No, right now, he could see fear in those eyes.
Roan screamed and punched him in the chest. "Ahh, shit!!"
But the very next moment, Xane instantly moved back.
A soul-shivering scream came out of Roan's mouth.
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!"
He saw Roan moving back, trying to cover the massive hole in his neck, but the effort seemed futile as blood continued to pour out.
At this moment, the inmates in other cells started screaming. "Kill! Kill! Kill!"
But the other four had already trapped him. Not caring about his own being, he moved his head back and slammed it directly into the guy on his right.
The power behind the attack was so high that the world started to spin around him. He felt a large amount of blood rushing down his head.
Not caring about any of it, Xane just started laughing on top of his lungs and lunged at the others. "Hahaha!"
Like a cornered beast, Xane hurled himself at them with all his strength.
If they grabbed his body, he would bite them; if they grabbed hold of his head, he would use his nails to claw at them, ruthlessly trying to poke out their eyes.
His madness seemed infectious, as the others also lost their composure and started doing the same.
In the bloodbath, he heard multiple footsteps running toward them, and soon, the same guard who sent him here screamed at the top of his lungs. "No!!! Stop!!"
This snapped Xane out of his memory as he looked up at Marcin in confusion.
