Chapter 76: The special way of half summoning
The moment Xenor heard the mechanical voice, he smiled at Xane and clapped. "Well, with that out of the way, now let's talk about my way of half-summoning."
Xenor scrapped the paper and picked out a new one and said, "Viyron, you see, there are 2 reasons that make half-summoning a bit unpopular choice, so you will find very few hex masters who solely rely on half-summoning."
Xane said the obvious answer. "The power of the hex monster should be one of them, right?"
Xenor nodded to him and then started to mumble.
The very next moment, a fat, familiar frog appeared on Xenor's shoulder. "You remember this guy, right?"
Xane stared at the frog with interest and nodded his head. "This was the one that took my fist the very first day."
Xenor nodded and said, "You see, even though this could take one attack for me, it was super weak and practically had no other function at all. Also, it's not only this frog, but most of the beasts I can summon are on the same power level."
Xane frowned and said carefully, "Ah, teacher, won't that make half-summoning very weak?"
Xenor nodded his head. "Yup, this is the reason many hex masters use half-summoning for manual tasks. But what if, instead of summoning the entire creature, I summon just a certain part of the creature?"
Zayn said to him. [He must be talking about hand summoning.]
Even though he heard Zayn, he was not sure how that would work, but the very next moment, he saw Xenor's hand flashing with blue light as he tapped on the table.
Before Xane could react, a rune circle appeared on the table, and 10 tentacle-like things rushed out of the circle.
Xane didn't even get to move before these tentacles grabbed hold of both his hands and legs.
Xane stared at the table in shock. It was like the table had become a creature itself.
He tried to struggle out of the tentacles, but even these weak-looking pinkish tentacles were too strong for him.
Once he realized that these things were just trapping him and nothing more, he closely examined the tentacles, but that's when his eyes went wide as he shouted at Xenor, "Teacher, are these frogs' tongues?"
Xenor smiled at him. "Yup, what do you think about the strength of these tongues?"
Xane once again tried to move out of the tongues' grip, but he discovered the more he struggled, the tighter the tongues trapped around him.
Not only that, the saliva around gave this bizarre sensation that he was being licked by some foreign entity.
Xenor snapped his fingers, and the next moment the tongues recoiled back into the hex circle on the table and disappeared.
It was like everything he had just experienced was an illusion. It's just that there was still frog saliva on his hand, so he was sure those things were not an illusion.
Xenor said to him, "What you saw was just a simple one-star hex art I created that used a specific type of frog tongue to trap my opponent. Now that I focus all the energy to summon just a specific body part of the creature, not only is it much stronger than normal, but it also develops certain extra mental properties."
Xane looked at Xenor with fascination, but then frowned. "Teacher, can we summon any part of a creature's body?"
Xenor waved his head. "There are certain requirements and prerequisites, but that's for later. Now, the second problem of half-summon is the speed of summoning."
Xane tilted his head. "Speed?"
Xenor nodded and scribbled back the tube diagram connecting the two circles and said, "Now, even though we convert our mark into the link, still at the end of this link we have shutters. Now, a hex master could easily open them, but it still takes time."
"This condition to open the shutter makes it impossible for a normal hex master to instantly summon the creature."
Xane looked at the diagram and asked, "Teacher, what if we remove the shutter altogether?"
Xenor shook his head and said, "That's too risky. After all, these small worlds can contain many creatures who would detect this open part, and this could lead to all sorts of complications."
Xane tilted his head in confusion. "Then?"
Xenor said with a puffed chest and once again started drawing before the first diagram.
The first half of the diagram looked the same, with a circle representing the human hex master that had a small link connected to him. But halfway through, the link split into multiple small lines, and then these small lines all scattered on the big circle, connected to different points on the circle.
This time, Xenor didn't even bother to make the shutter gate at the mouth of these tubes.
It took Xane a moment to realize that the links connected to the small world were now split into so many low points that nothing substantial could enter through them.
But that didn't stop the entry of energy going in and out without problems.
Xane asked in confusion, "Won't it cause any problems with summoning the monster?"
Xenor nodded his head. "If we have to summon the full creature, it sure will be problematic, but my hex art relies more on using the special energy from the small world to recreate certain parts of those monsters with the energy."
Xane asked in surprise, "We can do that?"
Xenor smiled. "The small world needs to be of a certain purity. The purer the small world, the more creation power the pure energy of that world will have."
Xane stared at the diagram and asked Zayn, <Will this work?>
Even Zayn was surprised as he saw the diagram. He knew from the hints scattered in the novel that Xenor's method could be effective, but none of them explained the way that method worked.
He never thought such an answer was possible, but then nodded. [I mean, this way we will always be connected to the world. So yeah, it should have the same function as Liam's method. Also, I don't think chaos fog would cause any problems because of the size of these links.]
Xane smiled and, without thinking much, directly asked, "Teacher, when can I build my mark like this link?"
Xenor was more enthusiastic than he was and got up. "Come on, follow me."
Not wasting any moment, he stood up and both of them started walking to another area of the lab.
