Chapter 78: The second plan
A blue cannonball soared through the sky like an icy star. Behind it, a glowing trail shimmered, resembling tiny sparks. As the bullet approached the pirate ship, the captain sprang to his feet, startled. He recognized the weapon well.
"Hold on tight!!! That's the Dream kingdom's Weapon!"
Minutes earlier,
Julian had pulled a wooden box from the ship's storage and placed it before the captain and Cyrus. Cyrus glanced at the box and the symbol engraved on it. Although most of the engraving had faded, the delicate texture remained clear.
The captain took a deep breath and produced a green key from his pocket. "I didn't think I'd use it here..." He opened the box, revealing a green stone with an intricate spell inscribed on it. "We need to harness the power of this stone."
Cyrus reached to touch the stone, but the captain stopped him. "No! You can't touch the Memory Stone. Its power is beyond imagination, and even in this weakened state, it can still affect you."
Cyrus grinned and suddenly snatched the stone. "You fool!!!" The captain was shocked to see Cyrus holding it without any adverse effect.
Boom!
Lightnings were booming in the sky and waves were attacking the ship.
"We must transfer some of its power to the cannonballs immediately!"
"This stone can bypass that scroll and target the ship directly!"
Julian asked worriedly, "But captain, is that safe?"
"Ha ha ha, kid! Sure, the Memory Stones are priceless, but what good are they to me when I'm dead?"
"You shouldn't let fear of value paralyze you! Ultimately, these are just tools that can save your life when used correctly."
"Zhu Fan!!! Hurry!!!"
[Oh? So this thing is valuable. I think I should get a few more.]
Creation Magic - Clone!
Suddenly, several Memory Stones appeared in Cyrus's pocket. To avoid drawing attention, he quickly cast a concealment spell on them.
"Zhu Fan! It's time to use it!"
Cyrus held the Memory Stone in one hand and a cannonball in the other. Both glowed blue.
"Get ready!!!"
"Take aim!!!"
"Now!!!"
Boom!!!!!
The blue cannonball soared through the air, cutting through the storm toward the pirate ship. The pirate king immediately recognized the glowing projectile.
"Fire Star!!!"
Fire Star was the name of a weapon used by the elite soldiers of the Dream Kingdom, a mysterious armament which creation method was unknown. In truth, it was merely a reinforced weapon powered by the Memory Stone.
The Memory Stone itself was exceedingly rare and difficult to obtain; its true power could obliterate a city in an instant. The Dream Kingdom had managed to extract and simulate its essence, but creating these Memory Stones was inhumane, relying on the memories of the whisperers, yielding only one-fifth the power of the original. Nonetheless, a Memory Stone was still a formidable tool with many applications.
The pirate king had heard countless tales of this devastating weapon. If even one of those stories were true, the magical barrier could easily be destroyed, shattering his plans.
"Damn it! I can't trap them like this!!!"
He scanned his surroundings in panic but saw only terrified sailors and swirling storms. Had they found out about his true plan? No, that was impossible. The pirate king believed he could dispose of them effortlessly, even having changed the fireproof sails to lure them in. But now everything had changed with the Memory Stone's revelation.
"Right! If they won't come to me, I'll bring them to the ship myself!! Ha ha ha!!!"
Suddenly, a thought struck him, and he pulled out another spell.
vortex Scroll!!!!
The sailors froze in fear at their captain's wild reaction.
[Has he gone mad!? His plan is already failing; we shouldn't have trusted that lunatic from the start!]
[No! We can't let him use that damned spell. Even if we survive this storm, escaping from that spell would be impossible... he might even attract those creatures too!!!]
