The Choice of The Universe

Chapter 52: Chapter 52 – Hunt-1

The crowd gathered in front of the tribal chief's tent was silently waiting for the meeting inside to end. Han, who stood out with his short stature in this crowd, was the most excited and nervous among them. Although the others' gazes were on Han, he continued to look towards the tent without caring about those around him.

Red orcs were not like Han. They grew, matured and became stronger very quickly. They started to join the hunt at a very early age. However, Han's development was very slow. He was distinguished from the others with his weak body, weak muscles and dwarf structure. That was why the tribal chief had not allowed Han to join the hunt.

After years, he was finally going to join a hunt today. His mother had a big role in this, but Han was not in a position to think about it. As he carefully looked towards the tribal chief's tent, one of his friends came to him.

- I see your eyes are shining. I hope you don't lose this light while hunt.

- So you think I won't succeed.

- (He didn't know what to say when he got an unexpected reaction.) What does it have to do with anything? I was just going to say, "I'll be nearby. If you need help, find me." But you are so serious.

- You know how important this hunt is to me. And you continue to mess with me as if nothing happened.

- Okay… Okay, I'll give up. Because you misunderstand me. I never had any intention of messing with you. I know your efforts and endeavors best...

We are friends, aren't we? You should know that I'm there for you when you need me. Just… You seemed a little nervous about this hunt. I just wanted to cheer you up, that's all.

- Sorry, I'm a little nervous as you said. But it's nice to know you're here for me. Thanks, Arz.

As the two of them extended their fists and bumped each other, Han was slapped hard on the shoulder.

- What's up Han. How are you? You're ready, right?

- (Shaken by the impact, Han put one foot forward to maintain his balance and narrowly avoided falling to the ground.) What the hell is this. Do you always have to sneak up and hit like this?

Just as Han was about to say something to the big red orc in front of him, his friend, whose color was paler than the other red orcs, came over to them.

- What's up, daytime flashlight. You're shining like the sun again. Hahaha. I swear without you, our red orc tribe would always remain in darkness. Hahahha.

- Cock's comb!! You wait a bit. After I'm done with this inglorious Alp, I'll deal with you too.

- (Meanwhile, when the movement in front of the tent caught Arz's attention, he warned his friends.) Calm down. The chief is about to leave the tent.

The fact that he had his trusted friends with him and that they were teasing each other calmed Han down a bit. When he turned his gaze towards the tribal chief's tent, the tribal chief and his two assistants also left the tent.

- (After the tribal chief looked at the crowd carefully) Good... I see everyone is ready. Now, those who haven't taken their weapons should go to the weapons tent and choose a weapon for themselves. Hurry up, we'll gather again at the village entrance.

The unarmed ones went to the weapon tent and Han followed them. Everyone who entered the tent in turn took a suitable weapon and left the tent. Finally, the choice of weapon came to Han. He entered as the last person and started to visit the weapon stands.

Everything in the tent was neatly stacked. Great war swords, heavy maces, spears, great scimitars, daggers, axes… Axes!!… There was only one axe left in the axe stand. It was also broken on one side. It seemed that all the orcs had taken an ax or two for themselves and left the tent.

Now that Han had little choice, he started to visit the stands again to choose his weapon. Great war swords were swords that Han could hardly control even with his two hands. He tried to pick up one or two and swing them, but he could not balance. He put the great swords back in their place and went to the mace stand. Most of these heavy maces were made of iron.

Han tried to lift one, but it was not successful. With difficulty, he managed to pick up a mace from the stand and lift it into the air, but he could not find the strength to swing it. He put it back in its place and picked up the one made of the tree next to it. It was not easy to use because of the metal thorns stuck into the end of the tree. He swung it a few times and then let it go. This weapon was definitely not for Han.

When he could not find what he was looking for in the following stands, he came to the stand where the daggers were with one last hope. As he looked at the straight and curved daggers neatly placed on the shelves, some memories came to his mind. Since he was short, weak and frail, his mother had taught him how to use a dagger when he was a child. But he could not understand how he had forgotten this. If he had remembered, he would not have looked at the other stands and would have come here directly.

Now that all the daggers were in front of him, Han calmly examined the daggers. This was the last stand. Since he had no other choice, he had to choose a weapon from here. The curved and skull-shaped dagger caught his attention. When he reached out and picked it up, he noticed that there was another one of the same daggers there.

These daggers, stacked on top of each other, were identical. Twin curved skull daggers. When he picked up the other dagger, he swung it a few times. His confidence grew with each swing of the daggers. It was as if these daggers were made for him.

The unconscious movements of his body were in harmony with the daggers in his hand. He could use the daggers as if they were a part of his body without any hesitation. After swinging them a little more, he hung these curved skull daggers on both sides of his belt.

His choice of weapons was over. Now it was time to leave, but he suddenly stopped just as he was about to leave the tent. He didn't want his friends to make fun of him because of the curved daggers in his hand. So he turned back and left the weapons tent, taking the broken axe with him.

When all the orcs who would participate in the hunt gathered at the village entrance, the village chief began his speech.

- As you know, today we will hunt the forest monster. This monster, which threatens our hunting grounds and upsets the balance of the forest, has become a big problem. To eliminate this problem, we have to get rid of it.

This creature we call the forest monster is a not very large four-eyed bear. Don't underestimate it just because it's short. It roams alone and kills everything it encounters. The animals in our hunting grounds are panicking. If it continues like this, there will be no animals left to hunt around. This means the beginning of extinction for us.

Now we will go and eliminate this problem. Are you ready?

- (They all shouted together.) Yeeees.

- Then show me your effort and let me hear the voice of the savagery within you... (Everyone suddenly raised their axes in the air and roared a war cry.)

This is it. This is the spirit I am looking for. Let's go and kill that monster.

(He called out to the people he had previously chosen.) My team, hurry up, we are going.

Five people stepped forward from the crowd and headed towards the forest under the leadership of the tribal chief. While the rest watched the others leave, the first deputy chief stepped forward and formed his own team of eight. And they also headed towards the forest.

Only the novices remained behind. These were those who had participated in the hunt once or twice and those who had never participated in the hunt before. The second deputy chief gathered the rest together and formed a new team. Han was also in this new team of six.

The second deputy chief led them and followed the others…

...

In the orc village, there were thirty-three red orcs who could fight, including the tribe chief. Seventeen of them did not participate in the hunt to protect the village. The hunt participants were divided into three teams. The first team would attack the four-eyed bear from the front under the leadership of the tribal chief.

The other team would ambush the bear under the leadership of the first deputy chief and attack when it was least expected. The novices would observe the hunt from a distance and try to learn how to hunt.

The village chief liked to train new warriors and give them experience in hunts where he thought there would be no trouble. After all, the next generation of the tribe needed experience.

When all the arrangements and preparations were complete, the tribal chief and his assistants led the new and old hunters into the forest after the bear. It was now time to hunt…
