NOVEL NEXT Chapter 4: Mindlink not received.
I close my diary and sigh, my father still hasn't talked to me since earlier today. It's not Like she meant to almost kill him, she was going for the Alpha's son.
'He should've minded his own business' my wolf Akela growled In my head
'well maybe you need to control your aggression' I snap back at her
'if you aren't going to stick up for yourself than I have no problem doing it, and will continue doing it until you prove you can handle yourself'
'We need to blend in, we can't go around fighting anything that talks. What happens if they exile us once we turn 18? All because of your anger'
'We don't blend in, we are double alpha bred. We are meant to stick out and we don't take anything from anyone, if you want to settle in your position as omega then do it. But I know I'm not taking anything off a half breed alpha pup' she growls.
She spit out the word alpha as if it burns her tongue addressing him like that, his mother was an omega before she died in a rogue attack. He grew to hate omega's for being weak and constantly harassed them when his fathers back was turned. He already made 3 omega's leave once they turned 18 from his constant torment. She receded to the back of my mind signifying that she was done with the conversation, damn moody wolf thinking she is always right.
I agree that the Alpha's son is a jerk, but no need to try to kill him over it. I just want to meet my mate and forget about all this. Stupid kid didn't even have his wolf yet, being half omega blood it has proven that he is a late bloomer. Late bloomers can hit puberty at 14 but it could take several years for their wolves to emerge, he would've known not to mess with me if he had his wolf already.
He is only 15 about to be 16 here in a couple weeks, so hopefully his wolf won't be as stupid as he is. I ponder at what happened today, wondering how long it will take for my father to talk to me again and what my mother will say when she gets home. Her and the alpha have gotten close, ever since his omega mate died she practically raised the little shit while working at the daycare center. It will be no time before my mother comes smashing in the house screaming about how wrong I was.
I start to make my way down the hall to check on my father before I hear the door unlock downstairs. Akela immediately alerts to possible danger, we sneak down the hallway to the top of the stairs before we stop and listen. I hear the Alpha's voice and suppress a growl, then I hear the spawns voice and couldn't prevent a growl from escaping me. I felt Alpha Duncan's weak aura flow up the stairs before it abruptly dropped when my mother started to speak.
"I'm so sorry for what happened today Alpha Duncan" my mother says, I fume at her words but understand that she is trying to keep the peace.
"She attempted to kill my son, your future Alpha!" He snaps at her.
"Alpha I promise she meant nothing by it, they were just kids being kids.."
"Her wolf would have killed my son if it wasn't for that mange covered flea bag you have for a mate" he growled
My grip tightens on the railing my claws extending at the thought of him insulting my father . MY FATHER.
"Now Alpha, that's no way to speak of someone who saved your son.. I didn't see anyone else jumping in to save him." she tried to defend my father.
I start walking down the steps taking them one by one to not make a sound, I abruptly stop when i catch sight of them. I see my mother right up against Alpha Duncan rubbing his chest, Duncan looking down at her with lust. My heart sinks and eyes burn at the thought of my mother betraying my father, he would feel any touch and smell anyone on her. I know that he would be able to feel anything she was doing, and suppress a growl at her actions.
"go wait outside" he motions for his son to leave
His son grumbles but goes outside without another word.
"I killed my mate for you. I planned a child for you knowing you were struggling to have one. Then.. then you have that THING that can't even control her stupid wolf. I made my Beta train her to get better control, but yet here we are another accident with her. NOW my only heir is at risk? I chose you from the second I met you, time for you to finally choose me. She has until she is 17 to leave, and you to reject your mate. His death should come shortly after."
"but Duncan.." she stammers
"Alpha" he growled
"Alpha, council law states that no minor can be exiled.."
"unless they are a threat, and today she has been deemed a threat to my pack and almost stripped them of their future Alpha." He retorts
"But that's only a month away! You can't exile her, please! I'll reject my mate but please don't exile my daughter" she cries.
She cant reject my father.. he will certainly die, especially right now after exerting all his energy to shift. I look up the stairs towards his room just to be shocked to see my father standing right behind me. He puts his fingers to his lips telling me to be quiet. My heart starts rapidly beating as I look back down towards them.
"you'll reject your mate for me?" Alpha Duncan asks
"yes! Please. Please don't exile my daughter!" she cries gripping his shirt
"do it"
"I will! Please just give me some time and I will" she says as she starts to calm down.
"Now." He says coldly
Panic sets in that either I leave, and my father stay only to possibly be rejected anyway. Or I stay and my father gets rejected and I've caused my father's death. Or the last thing.. she can't reject him unless they're face to face! I turn to my father to mindlink him my master plan only he isn't allowing it, I look him in the eyes as he is crying.
'anything for you' his voice flutter in my head.
He blinks back his tears only for me to see a flash of silver out of the corner of my eye. I go to look towards it just to feel a sharp pain in the side of my neck. I immediately feel flush and light headed, my father catches me as I fall towards him. He lays me down on the landing as quietly as possible, kissing my forehead.
I use my last bit of strength to turn my head to watch him walk down the stairs.
'Akela, what's happening…'
'wolfsbane' she said in a strangled voice before I could no longer reach her.
It was like my father was walking down the steps in slow motion, I tried screaming telling him to stop whatever he was doing. I had a plan, an amazing plan… weighing the alternatives.. no sound would come out. I couldn't mind link or reach my wolf, I was stuck watching my worse nightmare unable to do anything. I wasn't even able to blink my eyes to prevent them from burning so badly.
"Josiah.." my mother gasps as he makes the final step down
" I, Josiah Nightshade, rightful Alpha of the now disbanded Nightshade pack reject you as my mate and rightful Luna" he staggers holding himself up on the wall
"Josiah, don't-" she starts
"Accept the rejection!" he screams.
His wolf comes fully present for the 2nd time today, second time in 20 years and pushes out an alpha aura I didn't know was possible from him. It was weak still, Alpha Duncan wasn't phased and I sure as heck wasn't either. But it affected my mother, the only one he cared about affecting. She fought his aura as long as she could before giving in.
"I, Cassie Dark Claw, rightful Luna to the disbanded Nightshade pack…"
She tries to force herself to not accept but can't struggle any longer against his weakening command
"Accept your rejection" she sobs as she falls to the ground
My father falls to his knees, letting his aura go. He was deathly pail, as he looks up at alpha Duncan speaking.
"Well I guess that was resolved by itself, Cassie 1 month." He chuckles
"What?" she gasps out
"Our agreement was for you to reject him, not the other way around. Your daughter has one month, and is not to be joining the annual mating event." He says smugly.
My father was dying before my eyes, he was white and fallen against the wall unable to hold himself on his knees. My mother not even a foot away from him, holding her chest looking at her fated mate watching her mark on him disappear Feeling for her own.
"don't worry love, you'll have a new one once you feel better"
Duncan reaches down to pick my mothers limp body up for a growl to erupt from my half dead father. My father looks furious, I see his claws slip out and slice through Alpha Duncan's throat. Duncan stammers back gripping his throat that was pouring out blood. The last thing I heard before everything went black was my mother screaming and my father growling "MINE" as he slipped away to meet the moon goddess.
