The Alpha's Secret Omega

Chapter 13: Euphoria

Kael's POV

As soon as I saw her wolf in the woods, I froze. The moonlight streamed through the trees, illuminating her as she swirled and ran, her white fur glimmering like it was woven with threads of light itself. My wolf stirred, practically howling inside me, clawing at my restraint to get closer to her. She wasn't just any wolf—she was magnificent, unlike anything I'd ever seen. Strong. Proud. Radiant. This was the wolf she'd been hiding all along.

I stepped forward cautiously, not wanting to startle her. The moment she sensed me, she stopped mid-run, her wolf's piercing gaze locking onto mine. Even from a distance, the power she exuded was palpable, commanding. My breath hitched.

Slowly, she shifted back into her human form, her expression a mix of defiance and apprehension. She stood tall, unflinching despite her vulnerability, and I couldn't help but admire her.

"You lied to me," I started, my voice low but laced with authority. "You lied to this entire pack."

Her jaw tightened, but she didn't say a word.

"You've hidden that—" I gestured toward where her wolf had been moments ago, my tone suspicious, "—when it's unlike anything I've ever seen. Why, Lyra? Why would you do that?"

She squared her shoulders, meeting my gaze head-on. "I don't owe you anything, Alpha."

Her words stung, but not as much as the coldness in her tone. "Yes, you do," I replied firmly, stepping closer. "You're no omega. You've let the pack believe you're weak, and for what? To play small? To hide?"

"It's safer this way," she said quietly, but her voice carried an edge, a determination I hadn't heard from her before.

"Safer?" I repeated, scoffing. "What could be safer than letting your Alpha protect you?"

She shook her head, her eyes distant. "You wouldn't understand."

"Then make me understand," I demanded, my frustration mounting. "Because right now, all I see is a wolf who's been hiding her strength, her true self, for reasons I can't fathom. And it's not just your secret—it's a betrayal to the pack. To me."

Her lips parted like she wanted to say something, but she quickly clamped them shut. I could see the storm brewing behind her eyes, but I also sensed the fear she was trying so desperately to hide.

"You can't keep this up, Lyra," I said, softening my tone. "Not anymore."

She looked at me, her expression softening. The tension between us crackled like lightning, but she didn't respond. Instead, she turned to walk away, leaving me there, alone with questions that only she could answer.

"You're mine," I said, my voice steady but firm. The weight of my words hung heavy in the air between us, the truth of them undeniable.

Lyra froze, her wide eyes locking onto mine, and for a moment, I could see the walls she'd carefully built around herself begin to crumble. "How could I possibly be yours," she whispered, her voice trembling, "when you already have a mate?"

I didn't flinch. "You are. I know you feel it too, Lyra. Don't deny it."

"I don't—" she started, but her wolf betrayed her, her eyes flashing briefly, shimmering with the undeniable connection we shared.

"You don't have to lie or deny it," I said softly, stepping closer to her. "It's obvious, Lyra. I see it. I feel it. And so do you."

Her vulnerability struck me like a blow to the chest. Her walls weren't just crumbling; they were shattering, leaving her raw and exposed. I wanted to reach for her, to pull her into my arms and promise her that she was safe with me, that I'd protect her with my life from whatever fear kept her hiding. But I didn't. I couldn't.

I simply stood there, torn between my instinct to claim her and my need to tread carefully.

Then I heard it—a rustling sound. It was faint but distinct. My eyes snapped to the area beyond the trees, and I saw Lyra stiffen too. Her wolf stirred, its alertness mirroring my own.

"Stay here," I ordered, my voice low but commanding.

I moved swiftly toward the sound, my senses heightened, but the area was empty. Whoever had been watching was gone, and I cursed myself for not acting sooner. Someone had seen her. Someone else now knew her secret.

I clenched my fists, my wolf growling in frustration. This wasn't just about Lyra anymore. Her safety, her very existence, was at risk. I had to find out who it was and silence them before they spread what they'd seen.

Before I could fully form a plan, Selena's voice intruded through the pack's mind link.

"Where are you?" she demanded, her tone sharp and impatient.

I forced myself to remain calm. But as she spoke, all I could think about was how much I wanted to hear Lyra's voice in my mind instead. I'd do anything to feel her presence through the link, to have her thoughts interwoven with mine.

But for now, I had to focus. Someone was watching. Someone knew. And I wouldn't rest until I found out who.

I reached out before I could stop myself, pulling her into my arms. The moment her body pressed against mine, my wolf erupted with joy, leaping and howling in sheer ecstasy. She was ours. My arms tightened around her, drawing her closer, as I inhaled her intoxicating scent. My wolf growled in satisfaction, urging me to mark her right then and there, to solidify the bond that was undeniable between us. But I held back, keeping myself in control.

The world could have stopped, and I wouldn't have cared. I didn't want the moment to end.

At first, she hesitated, her body stiff in my arms. But slowly, almost reluctantly, she wrapped her arms around me, her hands resting on my back as she nestled closer. My heart pounded in my chest, and my wolf howled again, triumphant and elated.

"Lyra," I murmured softly, pulling back just enough to look at her. Her wide eyes met mine, and I could see the war of emotions raging within her.

"Can you connect to the pack's link?" I asked gently. "You're one of us now, and I need you to be able to reach me–reach all of us through it."

Her lips parted slightly in surprise. "I... I don't know," she admitted hesitantly. "We used the link in my old pack, but it's been so long. I'm not sure if I can connect here."

Her uncertainty didn't deter me. "Try," I urged, my voice steady. "Please. I want you in my mind, Lyra. In my head, in every part of me."

She nodded slowly, her brows furrowing in concentration. But before she could even begin to focus, I felt it.

Her presence.

It was like a lightning bolt, sharp and electrifying, surging through my mind. Her thoughts, her essence, her very being invaded my head in an instant. I froze, overwhelmed by the raw, unfiltered connection that flooded my senses.

"Lyra," I whispered, my voice breathless.

She looked up at me, her expression stunned. "I... I didn't even try yet."

My wolf practically purred in satisfaction, smug and elated. "You didn't have to," I said, a small, incredulous smile tugging at my lips. "You were already there."

And in that moment, I knew there was no turning back. She wasn't just in my arms- she was in my soul.
