The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 92- One Strike Brings Down the Wall

Every squire and recruits were once again forced to realise who the person riding along with them was. One of the three legendary level 10 knights in their kingdom, the only person to reach the Divine Paladin class, the one who broke through the curse that even the saintess couldn't break, and the Commander of one of the Seven Great Knight Orders.

With the legendary Divine Paladin with them, what was there for them to worry about? The squires, now overflowing with vigour, started charging towards the city gate in an almost mad dash.

Right when they were a hundred meters away from the gate, Reinhardt stopped and unfolded the flag of his order.

"We are the Knights of the Order of the Temple of Light, sworn defenders of the realm and guardians of humanity. By the authority bestowed upon me by the crown, I hereby declare a Trial of Reckoning upon Baron Chetak"...

"Due to his actions on the Dukedom of Arcknight, his evil deeds have come to light. He who once swore fealty to the crown now wallows in treachery. Baron Chetak has broken the law. He has hurt the people, stolen from the poor, and turned against the King. He must answer for his crime. Open the gates and let justice walk freely, or let them remain closed and be shattered by righteousness."

His speech, carried by his powerful stats, reached the top of the walls and the knight manning the gate.

DING… DING… DING… immediately, the alarm bells started ringing all across the city and walls. Within a short moment, soldiers started lining up the walls, with crossbows and cannons drawn towards them.

Seeing their action, Reinhardt shrugged his shoulders. He already expected that to happen when he shouted those words. In any case, he didn't really expect the enemy knights to give up just from his words.

What he spoke earlier was just words to give him and his order justification to attack. Although annoying, it was a culture and chivalrous code of conduct in this world.

"Knights of the Order of the Temple of Light go back. You are intruding on the territory of Baron Chetak. This is a serious offence. If you do not go back, we will shoot you down".

From the enemy walls, a knight augmenting his voice with mana, spoke. Right after that, a volley of cannonballs was fired as a warning.

"Well then, I guess our negotiation has broken apart. In that case, let us march. Today I want all of you to burn the scene in your eyes".

Reinhardt urged his horse and started charging towards the city gate with an unstoppable momentum. Behind him followed the brave squires of the Temple of Light.

BOOM… BOOM… BOOM… as soon as they were in the range of the mounted cannons, the enemy fired.

In response, Reinhardt activated his skill [Aegis of the Eternal Flame]. Crimson flames that burned with incredible heat formed a pillar around them, stopping and burning all the attacks into nothing.

BANG… BANG… BANG… another volley was fired, and just like before, they were all burned into nothingness.

The road near the city gate was lit up in a shower of fiery explosions. However, none of them were able to reach or even come close to the members of his squad.

[Aegis of Eternal Flame]- Description: Summons an impenetrable pillar of golden flames in large radius around oneself. Burns all incoming attacks and provides protection for a limited duration.

With the [Aegis of the Eternal Flame], none of the attacks were able to even touch the hair of the squires, and just like this, they were right in front of the city gate.

"Halt!! T-This is your final warning!" The enemy tried to scare them away. However, to anyone it looked more like they were trying to project their own fear of the flames than anything else.

In any case, they started employing various tactics. Throwing boiling water, firing arrows, and crossbows. The enemy unleashed everything they had in their arsenal. However, anything that touched the crimson flames was all burned until there was nothing remaining.

"I think the enemy is firing towards us. What are these flames? They are nullifying everything".

"It feels like they are burning extremely hot, but for some reason, we are not feeling any heat".

"It has to be another of Commander's skills. Man, it's so powerful, I wonder if I can learn it too."

The squires excitedly conversed. Their attitude was more like they were out on a stroll in a garden instead of sieging an enemy stronghold.

Reinhardt stood a little distance away from the city gate for a while. Arrows and cannonballs continued to rain on them.

"I guess the others have already reached their destinations. In that case, it is time for me to start" Seeing that the time was ripe, Reinhardt took out a sword from his [Dimensional Storage].

[Dimensional Storage]: Description- An infinite pocket dimension. Weapons, armors, relic, anything stored inside can be retrieved at will. The space within is timeless, ensuring that perishable items remain intact forever.

In short, it was comparable to the [Storage] skill of the knights. A large sword of beautiful silver glint and exquisite finish rested on Reinhardt's hand. Needless to say, it was not the solar edge but a different sword he ordered from the Dawn Forge.

"Please don't break. Please don't break" He desperately prayed in his mind. Since reincarnating in this world, he had already destroyed more than a hundred swords, all of which were some of the finest products of the dawn forge.

Though they cannot be compared to the tailored made sword forged using unique materials, be it in terms of material quality or finish, they were still comparable to the top swords there was in the market.

Nevertheless, in his hands, they were as brittle as glass. If he broke the current one which was tailored made for him using Mythril, Bodhog might just kill him.

That said, using the Solar Edge was not an option either after all, he had seen the destruction brought forth by that sword.
