Chapter 413- Knights Vs Demonified Knights (4)
Feeling the magic surge in the air, Vangeance stopped in his tracks and lowered his sword. The next second, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"Your blade shall carry the weight of your vow. Your movements and your swing shall become one with your mind, breath, and blade. Finding unity in three will remove all openings… [Holy Blade Arts] - Second Light."
The moment the demonic magic formations were about to activate, Vangeance opened his eyes again. A faint golden ring shimmered within them. At that very second, his sword vanished, or rather, it moved too fast for mortal perception.
First swing severed the spell formation mid cast, second swing disarmed their demonic weapons, and the last. The third left a line across the ground, and then, as the demons rushed in confusion...
SLASH...
Six heads fell to the ground before anyone saw the blade's return arc.
"T-That… that was," Kevin stammered.
"Brilliant," Gwen whispered.
"The state where you can sense the intent of the sword and read your enemy's actions before they even make them. He has definitely entered the transcendent state of [Heart of the Sword]."
As a former knight, Delicia was much more knowledgeable than the squires in this front.
"That's what they say the [Heart of the Sword] feels like," she explained, unable to take her eyes off him, as if recalling the memories, training, and battles sleeping deep inside her.
"He's not just using a sword anymore, he's speaking through it."
[Heart of the Sword], the transcendent state, still felt like a distant dream for the current them.
From Senior Vangeance, their eyes shifted towards Silvia. At that very second, it became lost.
Lost because, unlike the Level 6 True Knight, whose movements, although still beyond extraordinary, were still within the borders of their perception and knowledge. However, elder sister Silvia, she was a monster in her own league.
Be it her movements, skills, or sword techniques, it was all unfathomable and beyond their knowledge.
Before her enemies even made their moves, she was already in motion, intercepting them with precision that could not be understood with reason. Every motion of hers fed into another, in a seamless [Transition].
There was not even a single wasted atom of energy.
Her sword cut upward, meeting the weapon of her foes mid thrust and redirecting it harmlessly as though guiding the flow of water.
Silvia stood surrounded by swarms of enemies. There was not even a single trace of anxiety even facing numerous demonified knights on the level of high ranking knights.
Her eyes from start to end remained calm and analytical. Constantly finding openings to exploit.
ROAARR... A demonified knight who was the largest and strongest among the lot surrounding her, roared and charged toward her. It had talon like gauntlets and a disturbing looking maw protruding out of its chest.
With every step it took, the demonic energy within its body surged, amplifying its size. Soon, the demonified knight turned as big as a giant.
BOOM... Air concaved from the sheer force of the fist, which came down to squash Silvia like a bug.
At that second, just as the giant fist was about to engulf her, the latter's hand flicked once. There was no flash of light, no power up, or burst of skill. Just one quiet, cresent swing of her sword.
In that moment, nothing happened. The fist still whizzed towards her and then just as it was a few inches away from her, it stopped. The enemy stopped.
Then, a perfect diagonal line appeared on the demonified knight, splitting it in half from its left shoulder to its right hip.
GRRR... The enemy grunted before disintegrating into ashes, light spilling from inside and purging the demonic energy.
The high-ranking demonified knight, who was once at the same level as her when alive, was defeated in a single move.
WOAHH.
Before the observing squires could even rejoice, they saw the enemies surrounding her attack at the same moment. This was a battlefield, and these demonic knights were not simple, mindless monsters but corpses of knights that had been reanimated using demonic energy.
They still possessed the instincts of one.
The moment Silvia went for the kill, they attacked simultaneously, leaving no room for her to retreat or dodge.
All kinds of attacks targeted her, and just when it looked like she was about to be swarmed, the sword slash that had just felled the giant demonified knight suddenly transitioned to a different technique mid motion.
Slash... Slash... Slash...
Her sword danced with such blistering speed that the slashes morphed into something resembling a shattered mirror.
"[Holy Blade Arts] - Third Light… [Radiant Cascade]."
For a second, everything froze, and then all the enemies around her disintegrated into holy ashes.
Silvia gently landed on the ground and exhaled softly. There was no relief in her breath; it was the casual, natural breathing of one who'd finished mastering a sword form, and not one who'd just fought for her life.
Having finished with her enemies, she turned around and backed her fellow knights.
Further back, near the gates of the vault, the squires who were observing couldn't help but laugh dryly.
Just earlier, when the enemy took the chance to surround and attack her while she was distracted by the giant, they almost shouted for her to be careful, only to stand rooted, stiff with their hands extended and mouths open, looking all silly the next second.
Every move and every power their elder sister showed went beyond their comprehension. Heck, they could not even see her sword move when she killed that giant or the enemies around her.
"Big sister Delicia, do you know what elder sister Silvia did just now?"
As a former knight, Kevin and the others thought she would know what happened right there. Unfortunately, even Delicia shook her head.
She might have once mastered the transcendent state of [One with the Sword] and touched [Heart of the Sword], but even for her, it was hard to judge what Silvia did; after all, the latter was already stronger than the previous her.
