Chapter 347- Remember The Training
"Start healing her. I will do something," Kevin rushed forward. Rolan and Delicia followed closely behind.
"How dare you lowly humans scar my body!!" The Creepy-Crawler roared and fired a couple of intermediate tier magic.
[Heat Blasts].
Kevin devoured them with his sword. However, there were far too many magic. With the mastery he had over the skill, absorbing all of them was impossible.
In that case, he threw the one he absorbed at the magic he couldn't.
BOOM… BOOM… Explosions rang out as the squire used everything he had in his arsenal. Rolan and Delicia weren't idle either; they used their own skills to counter the demon's magic and coordinate with Kevin as closely as possible.
Though it seems that the demon had no intention of giving them any chance to counterattack attack as it dished out one magic after another at them.
In the end, instead of closing the distance, the squires were pushed further back.
Huff... Huff...
"Dammit, I cannot enter that state again," Kevin gritted his teeth, looking out of breath. It would have become a simple task to forge a path through the barrage of magic had he been able to enter that state.
However, just like the sword said before, his body was not up to the state where it could handle the strain of its power. After just absorbing the magic from the demon, he already looked extremely exhausted.
"Kevin, are you alright?" Gwen asked in concern. They had all faced the demon's magic together, but they weren't as exhausted as him.
"Say, I think that ability of yours drains your stamina instead of your mana every time you use it, right?"
Rolan analyzed. He had seen Kevin use that peculiar ability of his quite a few times already, and every time he used it, he would be rendered into an exhausted state like how he was right now.
Skills need some kind of source to power themselves. In their case, it was mana. However, for Kevin who did not possess any mana, he had to be compensating in some other way to make up for using an ability like that.
"My stamina, huh" Suddenly, the words the sword said made more sense.
Stamina, a stat that was like the fuel for the human body. Every movement, every action, consumes stamina. More so when performing intense bursts of action like fighting, sprinting, dodging, and so on.
If on top of that, the skills also start using the Stamina stats as fuel, it would quickly tire one out.
The three squires looked at Kevin, their eyes containing slight traces of empathy. They all knew how strong and stubborn the latter was. Even after being born with Nil stat in Mana, he never gave up on his dream of becoming a knight and even joined the Temple of Light through sheer tenacity and hard work.
Without giving up, he forged his own unique way to fight. Finally, when he seemed to have found something he could rely on, it turned out that it had a big flaw.
"Haha, you all, why do you look so worried? I am alright. So what of the ability of my sword uses Stamina? It just means that I will have to work extra hard to raise it up. That's all".
Ever so positive, the boy smiled, not giving in to his fate.
"Well, it wouldn't be like you if you got depressed so easily." Rolan and the others grinned. His affluent positivity was infectious enough to lighten their mood in this dire time.
"Since elder sister Silvia is not here, I will take charge. Is everyone fine with that?"
The level 5 squire who had been in the Temple of Light longer than anyone here, looked at his teammates.
"Huff… No problem, so what's the plan, senior Rolan?" Kevin propped himself up, squeezing out energy from who knows where.
"Everyone, do you remember the peculiar training we had before coming on a mission to the kingdom of Aetherion?"
"Hm? You mean that stele training?"
Gwen and Delicia immediately understood what he was trying to say. But there was an idiot in the team, who needed to be explained before it made sense to them.
"Ah, the stele training, I remember. What about it?" Kevin questioned.
"Doesn't our current situation look exactly like that?"
A demon that was cautious of them that it was using its magic to barrage them and stopping them from coming closer. It was probably because the demon was good at long range magic rather than fighting in close combat.
To reach their opponent, they would have to get past its powerful magic. Just like how they had to get past the gale to reach the stele.
"Hmm..." Kevin tilted his head, understanding very little about what was being intonated.
"Don't worry about him, he is the type to learn through his body and experience rather than words," Gwen interjected, progressing the conversation.
"Alright. Since we have completed the training, you should all know the strategy. Since elder sister Silvia is missing, I will be the one taking her place. Gwen, you will be in front of me. Kevin will be in front of you and big sister Delicia, just like before, you will be our arrowhead".
Everyone nodded their heads, understanding their role. And so, just like how they completed the training, they rushed towards their target, making the formation of an arrow.
Of course, their target was no stele, but the cunning demon that could think and reason for itself. Attacking it in that formation was just like asking for it to spam its magic on them.
With no surprise, it just did that. Numerous magic circles from low tier to intermediate, appeared beside the demon as it let loose a barrage of magic on the squires.
The Creepy-Crawler, as a middle ranking demon, its race was known for its ability to sneak into the shadows and even pull its target into it. It possessed higher intelligence than Darkmaw and could use magic of different attributes.
