Chapter 261- Secrets of the Summoning Gate
The court was adjourned, and the money imposed on the house of Odessa for the destruction and rebuilding of the city was an astronomical Ten Million gold coins.
Reinhardt and his squad, as well as the Odessas, all left the court with a relieved expression on their faces. Today, they were saved, and it was all thanks to one of the hero of their kingdom. If not for him persuading the mind of the Emerald Knight, they wouldn't have been able to avoid a heinous punishment.
Reinhardt was smilingly marching behind his immensely relieved squad as they merrily conversed with each other, when suddenly he was called out.
The caller was none other than the future king of Rune, the Emerald Knight.
"You kept your word. I am grateful".
"No, the one who is grateful is me. I was almost killed by people who have resorted to using Summoning gates to call forth demons. If not for you, I would still be in the blind at the stagnant water that had gone foul. Now I know what I must do to bring a new change in these foul waters," Jerrel spoke with determination.
Well, if he changed the kingdom for the better, then Reinhardt couldn't ask for more. Their conversation over, he was just about to walk away when the knight added.
"Sir Reinhardt, can I ask you for one more favour?"
.
.
Inside one of the soundproof rooms of the royal palace, two people were locked in a heated conversation.
"But father, if we let that father and daughter duo go, then killing Jerrel would become incredibly tough," The vice commander of the Emerald Knight spoke.
"Snort… if you only listened to me and practiced harder to become the strongest knight in the kingdom, we wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place." The king snorted, his expression twisted in displeasure.
The court earlier had shown him how much favourability he had lost now that he had aged and become weaker.
"Damn those people. When I was the strongest, they would always be fawning over me, obeying all my commands. Now look at them. This is why, son, you cannot lose power. Once power is snatched away from your hands, you will become a nobody. Just like what it has come to become of me now".
"Don't worry father, I will kill Jerrel no matter what." The vice commander clenched his hands and swore. "But for that, I need the Odessa's blood. If it's that demon, she can kill him".
He was there at that time, pretending to be late while watching the entire fight unfold. It was the first time ever that he saw Jerrel, whose limits that even he could not gauge, being manhandled like that.
When he saw the demoness, other than feeling fearful, he also felt excitement. Excitement at the realisation of finding an entity that could actually kill Jerrel.
And for that to happen, they needed a catalyst, or in other words, blood. However, not just any blood can summon the demoness he saw that day.
To summon a demon from the summoning gate, usually you would need tons of blood sacrifice, innocent or demonically possessed humans as a medium, and only then will the formation activate.
However, even then, there is no guarantee what kind of demon or demons would be summoned. In most cases, it is always low or mid ranking demons that are summoned.
Demons of this grade might be extremely scary for ordinary citizens or low level warriors. However, to knights, they weren't that big of a deal. The ones that actually make an impact are high or above ranking demons who need an equally large blood sacrifice.
The last time, they used a large number of blood sacrifices, citizens of the Staleport city to summon a high ranking demon from the summoning gate.
However, through some coincidence, the one who appeared was someone far higher ranking than what they bargained for.
The demoness was so strong that most of the king's guards he brought with him there ended up being easily killed by her hands. The entire Staleport city ended up getting razed.
He somehow managed to escape with a few others; however, her appearance which was now burned into his soul, made him tremble every time he remembered her. At the same time, it also made him hopeful.
If there was anyone who could kill Jerrel, then it was her. That said, it is impossible to summon her again with the same method and the same blood sacrifice size. The demon that would appear would most definitely be different.
That is, if they did not possess the demon's blood, in which case, it is almost but guaranteed that the same demon would appear.
While they did not have the demoness' blood, they could always get it from her family. That's right, for some reason, the demoness that appeared from the summoning gate possessed an uncanny resemblance to an extremely famous knight from Solaris.
Scarlett Elivna Odessa, the woman who possessed so much talent that it was rumoured she would step into the realm of heroes in the future. However, in an unfortunate series of events, she ended up dying. Or so it should have been.
Yet the demoness that razed their Staleport city was her, no doubt. The vice commander did not care whether she joined the demons or if the demons were manipulating her; the fact is that they had the blood of her family member, which would work perfectly fine as a replacement.
"Don't go about creating more troubles than you already have. Leave this matter to me, I will get some way to get the blood of Odessa no matter what."
At those words from the king, his son, the vice commander nodded his head before exiting the royal palace.
"Father, you have become too acquiescent and passive. At this rate, the Odessas will get away from our hands." Saying that, he turned away in a gruff, when suddenly he bumped into a tall, large figure.
"Divine…" Before he could speak anymore, a hand grabbed him, and the both of them disappeared in an instant.
