Chapter 259- The Trial On House Of Odessa
"Very, I almost got killed. If not for the other high ranking knights from my order arriving in time, I would be dead. Or so I believe, but I cannot help but have this feeling that she did not have any intention to kill me. It was as if everything was amusing for her".
An air of tension descended on the area.
"I see, she is that powerful, huh?" If she could make a knight as powerful as Jerrel to say that, then she must be at the level of a Heavenly King.
A brand new day arrived, the convoy having started its journey at the crack of dawn, arrived at the capital right before the trial could start.
The kingdom of Rune did not have a separate building for the senate, their trials were held in the audience hall itself.
When Jerrel and the Order of Emerald appeared in the royal capital, the first one to greet them was a handsome young man with slanted eyes. He wore a similar armor design to the rest of the knights, indicating that he was a knight of the order of the Emerald.
"Oh?! Commander, it's surprising to see you here".
"What's surprising about it? Did you think that I was dead?" Jerrel's attitude was dismissive of him. After all, he now knew the true face of this knight who was his Vice Commander.
"Ahaha, of course, that's not it. What I meant by surprise is that you came quite early. I didn't expect you to reach the capital so fast".
"Is that so? Get out of my way then," Jerrel walked past his vice commander and headed towards the royal capital, his knights and the people he brought, followed behind him.
"Heh, you must be Scarlett, I mean her little sister. You two look so similar," The vice commander of the Emerald grinned as he blocked a young girl with rose gold hair.
"Looks like the negotiation worked on Solaris. I hope the trial goes in your favour." His sadistic tone was laced with hidden meanings.
Gerard beside Gwen, couldn't help but clench his fist. Cadence did too. What this man meant by negotiation was cutting off all trade with Solaris which mainly relied on trade with other kingdoms to feed its populace.
It was only for this reason that one of the seven great nations had to listen to a country like the Kingdom of Rune.
"If you have anything to say, say it to me. Don't bother my squad member." With a voice as deep as an ocean, a tall, muscular man donned in a godly and awe inspiring platinum gold armor, and who seemed to be the epitome of chivalry, stepped forward.
"Eh, ah uhm..." the vice commander thought himself to be quite handsome and charismatic. However, in front of this knight, he looked like a candle in front of a lamp. The latter's brightness cannot even come close.
Seeing that the other party had no more words to say, he walked past the vice commander of Emerald, his squad walking behind him.
"That guy was so irritating," Gwen humphed.
"Don't worry, after today his mouth will be shut forever," Reinhardt spoke, caressing the little girl's head. His words and his presence exuded so much confidence that it was contagious. Immediately, the mood of the girl and others improved.
Since their commander said so, there was no need for them to doubt it anymore.
After they arrived at the royal palace, they were made to wait in a room. Soon, a king's guard appeared to lead them inside. For safety and other reasons, their weapons were confiscated, and Reinhardt in particular, was surrounded by a couple of high ranking knights who at least mastered [One with the Sword].
As the highest level being in the entire kingdom of Rune, his presence warranted their caution.
And just like this, they were called inside the audience chamber where the King, the strongest knight of his time in the kingdom of Rune, was waiting for them.
As one would expect of a former knight, the king's eyes first darted towards the man releasing an overwhelming amount of presence just by simply walking inside.
Reinhardt Arcknight, the Divine Paladin, the legendary hero, the knight among knights. The man had many titles and legendary feats that even reached their kingdom of Rune. Nevertheless, the one thing that stood out the most right now was the fact that the man entering was a level 10 knight, the pinnacle of humanity, the one they call heroes.
The very fact that a being of such immeasurable power appeared in the kingdom raised some concerns among him and his subordinates. However, since the future king was fine with it, the members of the chamber did not voice out their concern.
'Tch, it was because of him that my plan failed' King clicked his tongue. If all went according to plan, then the Emerald Knight should have disappeared in the Devil's Triangle. However, because of the anomaly that was the Divine Paladin, he got saved.
Be it the fight with that demon or the Devil's triangle, it was as if the god were watching over Jerrel, protecting him from disasters.
Scarlett... The moment he recalled the demon, a cruel smile that he quickly hid, appeared on his face. Even though it was a bummer that he could not kill the Emerald Knight, there would be plenty of opportunities to kill him later on, now that the blood that could summon that demon again walked in their doorsteps on its own.
"Everyone, you are in front of the King of Rune," A noble who was a member of the chamber, announced.
At this moment, everyone in the hall, whether they be the citizens of the kingdom or foreigners like Gwen, Keven, and even Earl Gerard, all of them knelt on one knee or bowed in one form or another.
However, Reinhardt, he stood there as straight and tall as a pole.
