The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 249- The Next King Of Rune— Jerrel

With the Queen saying all that, even they with their authority, cannot remove the Divine Paladin from the trial box now. With the ugly expressions of the council members, the hearing began once again.

While it was a pity that they could not pressure the Earl and her daughter directly, the outcome of the hearing did not change even with the presence of the Divine Paladin.

In here, what mattered most was not brawn, but brains. They, with their vote, were the judge and the arbiter here.

In the end, the result was the same. To still maintain a friendly relationship with the neighbouring kingdom, which had a tight grip on their imports, the council was ready to make some concessions.

"W-What are they saying? Father, did big sister really do all that?"

With the council continuously taking her big sister's name and bringing up the incident, the girl finally became aware of what was going on.

"Don't worry, she is not your big sister, but someone who is just impersonating her" Gerard tried to relieve the tension of his daughter but how could it be so easy to calm a younger sister whose beloved elder sister who supposedly should have died five years ago, suddenly appearing in front of others alive and that too as an the enemy of humans.

Huff… Huff… As if somebody or something had gripped her heart, her breathing became ragged. All sounds and images disappeared from her eyes, and she fainted.

.

The next moment when she opened her eyes, she found herself lying on top of a large comfortable bed. Next to her was a chair, sleeping on it was a silver haired girl she was much too familiar with.

"Un?!" As if catching the faintest movement of the bed sheet, the level 7 knight snapped awake.

"You are finally awake? Wait here, I'll go call everybody," Saying that, Silvia disappeared.

Moments later, there were hurried sounds of footsteps followed by the appearance of multiple people rushing inside the room.

"Gwen, are you alright? We saw you collapsing onto the floor in the middle of the council. We were all afraid that something had happened to you…"

As usual, he was very boisterous and filled the room with energy. Normally, she would have enjoyed it, acting all haughtily. However, right now she had no mood for that. All that was on her mind was the things the council said back then.

"I'm sorry, but can you all leave me and father alone?"

She wanted to talk to her father. Everyone respected her choice and got out of the room. Outside, Reinhardt was standing while aligning against the wall, seemingly thinking about something.

While they had left to hurriedly tend to Gwen, Reinhardt remained behind and attended the trial. The fact that he was here meant that the senate was over.

"Commander, will Gwen be alright?"

The latter nodded his head, assuring his subordinates not to worry too much. After that, he entered the room.

After a while, the three of them came out. Gwen's eyes were all red and swollen, a tell tale sign that she had a good cry.

On that day, the Commander informed them that they would go to the Kingdom of Rune for the Reckoning Trial. The House of Odessa had been called by the foreign king for questioning and trial.

When he informed them about this, without any surprise, they voiced their willingness to tag along.

The next morning, a foreign knight order that brought the missive from the crown of Rune, also escorted Reinhardt and his entourage to the kingdom of Rune.

"Will it be alright bringing these fresh faces along?"

Gerard questioned. If anything happened and he needed to protect his family, he brought his most trusted knight, Cadence with him. With the two of them, they would be able to run away with Gwen's life intact at the very least, even if the enemy surrounded them.

However, Reinhardt brought people who, from his perspective, would only slow him down and were no different than baggage.

"Haha, I can't be having you looking down on the members of my squad. Although they are still growing buds, one day they will bloom into excellent knights".

"I see," Gerard could only see unfettered confidence within those eyes of his; there was not even a single trace of doubt within them.

Well, the man had the right to, after all, he was a level 10 knight who had stepped into the realm of heroes. Beings who were really different than the rest of them and cannot be judged with common sense.

Perhaps, he was confident enough to handle any situation that arises later.

At this moment, he felt quite jealous of Raymond, who was able to sire such an excellent son. At the same time, there was a deep regret in his heart. Five years ago, there was also a brilliant knight from their house of Odessa, one so bright and exceptional that it was rumoured that she would be able to join the realm of heroes if she continued to grow like that.

However, as if fate had a cruel plan for them, their greatest hope was snipped before it could fully bloom.

That aside, he was truly happy that his daughter joined the temple of light and gained the protection of one of the heroes.

Before long, the knight order meant to escort them arrived. The commander of the knight order first placed his attention on the people in question.

When his eyes went towards Gwen, it couldn't help but twitch for a second. The resemblance was too uncanny. He felt like he was seeing the younger self of the foe he had fought a month ago.

"You are Earl Gerard and his daughter?"

The two nodded.

"I am Jerrel, from the order of the Emerald. On orders of the crown from the Kingdom of Rune, I am tasked with the mission to bring Earl Gerard and his family to the kingdom for questioning".
