The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 209- The Boy Born With The Nil Status

The skill that she had just shown could be compared to his own. So why was she so sullen?

"It's still far behind Commander's."

When he heard the reason, the squire blinked his eyes before laughing helplessly "You can't compare yourself to the Commander. He is a knight who has stepped into the realms of heroes. Of course, his skill would be in a whole different realm than ours"...

"Furthermore, what he showed us today was nothing compared to that gigantic pillar of light that dropped on the Arcknight estate that day".

The pillar of light that fell down earlier was many times smaller than what he had originally seen and could not even be said to be thirty percent as powerful.

Right now, the ones who were closest to coming to some form of understanding about the skill were the holy knights. However, even they were far from creating a pillar like the one displayed by Commander today.

BOOM… BOOOM… BOOM… the knights continued to spam in hopes of gaining new understanding of the skill.

The training ground of the knights had become a place of spectacle today. The numerous columns of light falling from the sky continuously, could be seen anywhere from the city, attracting the attention of its citizens.

Some came to watch the knight train while others calmly drank their tea from the balcony of their house, watching the show. No one was alarmed as they all knew that with the knight order present in the city, there could be no dangers.

While observing his knights, Reinhardt walked towards the young squire who was the only one among the lot who could not display even a trace of the skill.

"Kuhh!! Come on, I can feel it. Come forth [Radiant Ascension]!!!"

The boy shouted dramatically. However, there was no effect; the skill did not even show signs of activating.

"Dammit, not again. This time for sure I will do it."

Even though he failed again and again, he remained optimistic and unwilling to give up. A quality that impressed Reinhardt quite a lot. That said, what was impossible was impossible.

Seeing the commander walk towards him, Kevin panicked. He repeatedly screamed at the top of his lungs, hoping, no, begging for the skill to activate. Nevertheless, the outcome was the same.

"I-I can do it. This time for sure!!"

Those words were spoken to mask his insecurities more than to encourage himself. The boy tried and tried and failed and failed.

"You cannot activate skills if you aren't able to use mana. And without mana, having skills is useless. In the end, what it comes down to is possessing mana. With your Nil (Nil) stats in mana, you will never be able to learn any skill".

Being the Commander and possessing an extremely conspicuous appearance, Reinhardt's slightest movement attracted everyone's attention. And so, when he approached one of the members and initiated a conversation, it immediately attracted the attention of the surrounding.

"H-How did you…"Kevin's eyes widened when he heard the words spoken by the commander. His most guarded secret, something that he never told anyone other than his master.

How did the Commander know about it, the stats of his mana that were set at Nil since birth?

Reinhardt sighed; his following words might be too cruel for the boy; however, he needed to hear them or else he would forever be stuck trying to learn skills.

"Give up, you will never be able to learn any skill, not now or in the future".

"T-This.." The desperate smile that the boy was trying to keep on his face started crumbling slowly by slowly and his head and shoulders drooped.

No doubt hearing those words from the person he respected the most and whose shadow he was trying to catch, dealt a severe blow to his self esteem and confidence. Even with Kevin's mountain of optimism, the blow was just too great.

"I-I ca.. can.. really do it," He spoke while trying his hardest to stop himself from crying. But the tears still streaked down through his cheeks. The boy shed silent tears.

"What's going on?" Gwen approached from amongst the crowd. By now, the conversation between them had attracted the attention of almost all of the members, and they were gathering around them, curious as to what was going on.

"As I said, to use a skill, one needs mana. The latter is something that all humans in this world can use. Once their mana stats reach a higher stage, they are able to learn and activate more powerful skills. However, in your case, it is impossible"...

"Born with Nil stat in mana is unprecedented. Your limit has been set the moment you were born. Learn to accept it, and only then can you move past your shortcomings. No matter how much you train and push your body, you will forever be unable to learn any skills".

With adequate training and talent, one can train their stats and reach newer heights. It is possible even with Low (Low) stats.

But with Nil stats, it was basically immutable. As all humans are inherently born with the ability to use mana, that is, have Low (Low] stats in their status. Kevin was the sole exception in this matrix.

For some reason, he was born with a body that was unable to use mana. Reinhardt could see the reason why using his [Eyes of Divine Clarity]. However, it was precisely because he could see it that he knew the shocking reasons behind this anomaly and the incredible thing that was sleeping within him.

If touched carelessly, it could ruin the boy's future. Reinhardt, of course, didn't want that for his future knight seedling, and so he could only go about it in a roundabout manner.

Pitting the boy against numerous setbacks and trials until he found the incredibleness hidden within him, himself. And so, he said the thing he knew would shove the boy into the pits of despair.

"Stop coming for training from tomorrow on".
