The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 204- Village Chief & his Wife

Delicia's words caused the villagers to realise how much danger they actually were in. If even one of such monsters came into their village, they would have been wiped out in just a couple of minutes. Thankfully, the knights took care of them.

"A-Are all the monsters really been cleared from the jungle?"

Karl asked, his face pale white from the thought of accidentally encountering a monster like one inside the jungle.

"Do not be afraid, we have cleared all the monsters proliferating inside the jungle. It should be relatively safe now. However, as a precaution for the future, you should still commission the knights to clear out the forest periodically every half a year to be on the safe side and to make sure the number of monsters does not increase to this extent again," Grey directed.

After that, the knights were invited to have food and drink with the villagers. Although these poor peasants did not have enough for themselves, they were quite the opposite from the central district people of the city, and were rich at heart.

Whatever they had, they brought it out to celebrate. Why not? Today was the day, the danger that had been plaguing their village for over a year now, was finally cleansed. If they didn't celebrate today, then when would they?

Thanks to the brave and altruistic actions of Grey and the members of the Temple of Light, the image of the knights improved somewhat in the hearts of the people, and they came to see the other in a new light.

That day, a big bonfire was set up in the village square. All around, people could be seen dancing and singing, eating food to their heart's content.

Of course, Grey did not allow the poor fellows to bring out all their food stocks; no, the meat and the food on the table were provided by the knights. What everyone was eating was actually the rations the knight brought for the journey.

Since the mission was over and a nice opportunity came up to celebrate, they used their own rations for the celebration.

Sitting on top of a wooden barrel, Grey was sipping on his barley tea, when from the Karl and his wife appeared and sat beside him.

"You are still looking nervous, village chief." The holy knight passed a sideways glance at the other party and commented. He had done so much to improve the reputation of the knights; shouldn't the other party be more open to him now?

"Ahaha, sorry Sir Knight. It's just that it still feels too surreal. I cannot believe that the monsters are gone."

Karl's eyes became a little teary. As the village chief, one could imagine how burdened and responsible he felt regarding the previous situation of the village.

"If only those knights were the same too, Mitch and Beck wouldn't have to die." The names that the village chief mentioned were the innocent villagers who died by the monsters that came out of the jungle.

Grey patted the back of the man. Although it was saddening, there was nothing he could do. The previous ruler of this city and the knight order that maintained the place was Baron Chetak and the Tinker knights.

Perhaps if they had sieged the city and taken control of it a little earlier, they could have stopped the innocent villagers here from dying. However, there was no answer for what if.

That said, how did this weepy fellow manage to get such a beautiful wife? Grey was quite salty. Delicia was not only extremely beautiful, curvaceous woman with a figure to die for, but she was a former knight too and exuded an aura of confidence.

She was like the perfect wife anyone could ask for. He had been searching all around the kingdom for a wife like this, yet Karl, a normal villager out in the boonies, managed to get himself a keeper while he had none.

"By the way, would it be all right if I ask another favour of Sir Knight?" Karl suddenly asked.

"What is it?"

"I saw you heal your comrades earlier. Would it be too much for me to ask if you can heal my wife, too?"

It was generally known that when it comes to healing, the holy attributes were unparalleled. As a knight belonging to the order focusing on holy skills, he possessed quite a few skills that focused on that.

However, Grey still shook his head. He had looked at the wife when they first met and saw the severity of her injury. A wound that could cripple a knight who was considered to have stepped into the realms of superhuman.

Even for him, it was impossible to heal wounds of such a degree. His specialisation was more towards offensive rather than healing skills. As such, he cannot help her.

The wife must also be aware of the severity of her injury, as she was giving him a helpless smile.

"Is there really no way? Even a knight as powerful as you cannot heal her?"

Karl asked, the light in his eyes dimming. He met Delicia when she came to this village after retiring from the knights. After a few encounters, they fell in love, leading to marriage.

At the start, his beautiful wife would always smile at him. However, with time, he learned to see through her façade. That smile Delicia always put on, behind it she hid a lot of pain and bitterness.

It appeared that she still missed being a knight. As her husband, he wanted to do everything in his power. However, every priest of the Divine Radiance shook their heads and threw in their towel.

As for the powerful knight in front of him who used incredible holy skills… Grey shook his head saying, "It is beyond the level of my skill. An injury like that, only someone on the level of a Bishop or Saintess, can heal it".

The answer he received was the same.
