The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 201- The Talentless & the Talking Sword

"It is important to focus on your class specific skills. However, you cannot neglect the general skills taught in the order."

Vangeance slowly unsheathed his sword back, turned around and faced the squires. Even while facing a large number of monsters by himself, not even a single hair on his person was ruffled.

The three squires were once again forced to realise how vast of a gap there was between them. Although they had sparred with Vangeance previously, that was with multiple handicaps. Yet they were still unable to best him.

Now with no restraints barred, they couldn't even distinguish the speed at which he drew his sword.

So that is the power of a knight. Gwen and Rolan both gulped. They have both reached the realm of level 5 and believed themselves to be quite close to the next level.

However, when the reality was shoved right into their face, it made them realise how vast of gulf there still existed between Vangeance, who was a true Knight and a level 6, and them.

Kevin, on the other hand, looked at the technique the knight just used with interest. For him, who was unable to use any skill, he was more interested in techniques and execution rather than anything else.

From that swing from the knight earlier, he was able to sense a trace of something. Something so profound that he had no way to explain it. However, he felt like he would be able to replicate that faster than eyes slash using this profound feeling.

"Now then, shall we start your training?"

Vangeance clapped, waking everyone from their trance.

"Rolan and Gwen, you two will be handling the Cobra Cardinal. As for Kevin, you will be fighting the Boss Troll".

His words caused the young squire's face to turn ashen. "You are kidding, right? That is a B rank monster Boss Troll".

"So what, you are also a level 4 squire of the order of the Temple of Light who has learned the boss's [Holy Sword Art]. Man up and fight that thing," Vangeance ordered unreasonably, and threw the young men in front of the Boss Troll.

While the monster might not be as troublesome as the B+ rank Cobra Cardinal, it was still a B- rank monster.

"Kuh, dammit. Sir Vangeance, you can't just treat your juniors so roughly," Kevin protested. Though the next second, he was already engaging the enemy.

"Brat, I heard from others the word you said in front of the boss that day on the Magic Knight Entrance Exam. Hehe, quite bold of you. However, if you want everyone to recognise your worth, prove it with your action and not just words."

The knight spoke while casually observing the battle. The clash against the Cobra Cardinal looked to be in the favour of the two level squires. While there was a certain moment where it seemed dangerous, it was only because the two were unfamiliar with the attack patterns of the monster.

Once they understood what skills the Cobra Cardinal had and how it attacked, the victory was in their pocket.

Gwen and Rolan were both talented knights, especially the former. Even from Vagneance's eyes, he could see how exceptionally talented this girl was. Not even fifteen years of age and already a level 5. Talents like hers could be counted on one's hands even if one searched the entire kingdom.

'She was one of the top candidates of this year's Magic Knight Exam, someone whom all the Seven Great Knight Orders wanted. However, she joined our order in the end.

While not physically present at that time, Vangeance also heard about Gwen, the young noble who came from the house of Odessa, which has produced many excellent knights for this kingdom for generations.

Well, given that she was from that noble house, it was no surprise that she was talented. However, compared to it, Kevin was a complete enigma. Not only did this guy come from far from the boonies, but he had no manners or talent to speak of.

What's more, he was even unable to use any skills. A knight unable to use any skills, it need not even be mentioned how disadvantageous of a thing it was. If just sword techniques worked on the demons, the humans wouldn't have the need to devise and invent skills.

It is common knowledge that one can only kill demons using skills. And here was a person aiming to become a knight while unable to use any skills. What was Commander thinking when recruiting such a person?

If not for the fact that he had sparred with the young man and was surprised by the other person's unusual aptitude for sword techniques, he too would be thinking that.

'Show me the power that you displayed when you sparred with me that day. Awaken the power that is sleeping deep within you,' Vangeance muttered to himself.

In the battlefield where Kevin was duking it out with the Boss Troll, an adrenaline rushing fight was occurring right now.

BANG… the monster slammed its club heavily into the ground, raising the earth in a few meters area. Each and every attack from the Boss Troll was packed with so much power that a single hit could immediately seriously injure a level 4 human.

Yet despite facing that blood curdling attack, Kevin did not retreat; instead, he pushed forward using every ounce of strength and spread in his body. His physical stats roared as he made use of the body that he trained rigorously throughout childhood.

Dodge, dodge, and dodge. He dodged every attack, and when he saw the opportunity, he attacked.

SLASH… using the sword technique he had learned before joining the attack, he opened a large wound on the calves of the Boss Troll, causing it to stumble a few steps. However, it was just that.

Like many of his attacks before, this one too did not have any effect. CHIII… smoke released out of the wound of the troll before quickly closing up.
