Chapter 6: Chapter 6 – The First Battle and a Strange Return
Ryo stepped forward as the teacher called his name, his nerves slightly on edge. The instructor, a tall man with piercing eyes, gestured for Ryo and his opponent to approach a stone slab at the center of the field.
"Before we begin," the teacher explained, "each student must register their Status Window by placing their hands on this slab. This will allow us to verify your current abilities."
Ryo's opponent, a demon race student, stepped up first. As he placed his hand on the slab, glowing text appeared in the air, displaying his abilities:
Brute Strength
Slow Regeneration
Demonic Constitution
Then, it was Ryo's turn.
As he placed his hand on the slab, the glowing text appeared—but something was missing Unlike his status window his opponents window doesn't mentioned level title or level . then Ryo puts his hands on the stone slab and Only his vampire-related abilities were shown:
Enhanced Regeneration
Blood Manipulation
Blood Weaponry
The teacher narrowed his eyes. "Strange… Even for a half-human, half-vampire, these are high-level abilities. Have you trained in these before?"
Ryo shook his head. "I—I don't even know how to use them."
Murmurs spread through the students. How could someone possess such advanced abilities yet claim to be inexperienced?
The instructor sighed. "Perhaps you were simply born with them. Some rare cases exist where individuals inherit powerful traits by chance. Regardless, we will find out soon enough. Now, focus on the match."
The teacher stepped back and raised his hand. "Begin!"
The demon student lunged at Ryo with frightening speed. Ryo barely had time to react as a powerful punch came hurtling toward him. He dodged at the last second, feeling the rush of wind as the blow narrowly missed him.
But his opponent wasn't done. Another attack followed, and this time, Ryo wasn't fast enough. A heavy fist slammed into his side, sending him skidding across the ground.
Pain flared through his body, but he didn't stay down.
His Paradox Physique adjusted instantly, and his Enhanced Regeneration kicked in, numbing the pain and healing his injuries almost instantly. The onlookers gasped as Ryo stood up as if nothing had happened.
The teacher's voice rang out. "Focus on your blood! Try to control it!"
Taking a deep breath, Ryo did as instructed. He concentrated, feeling the flow of his blood inside his veins. A strange sensation coursed through him—like something awakening from deep within.
Then, he felt it.
Small, crimson needles formed in the air around him, created from his own blood. Though faint, they pulsed with power.
His opponent charged again, but this time, Ryo was ready. Using his enhanced speed, he dodged to the side, countering with a strike of his own. The blood needles shot forward, piercing his opponent's defenses just enough to weaken him.
With a final burst of strength, Ryo landed a decisive blow, sending the demon student staggering backward.
The match was over. Ryo had won.
After the match, Ryo returned to his dorm, his mind racing. Everything that had happened—the registration, the battle, his strange abilities—it all felt unreal.
He skipped dinner, choosing to rest instead. Exhaustion took over, and as soon as he lay down, he fell into a deep sleep.
But when he opened his eyes again, he was no longer in his dorm.
He was back in the training ground—standing before the stone slab.
The match had not yet begun.
His heart pounded as he realized the truth. He had regressed again.
