Chapter 188: Julius II
By the time she turned, Julius had already moved a few steps away with a quick smile on his face. "I see. So your power is raw strength, impressive."
She scowled and clenched her teeth so hard that it sounded like stones grinding together. "How? How were you able to keep up with my speed? How?"
She was clenching and unclenching her fist, her left hand rubbing her side gently. '...his punch is weak but...his speed and the way he avoided my punch...impressive...impressive indeed!...and very dangerous!...'
Julius nodded as if he had just confirmed something. "Alright. You can bring it on now."
She only snarled, her lips curling back in anger as she bore down on him like a fleshy hurricane. Each punch she threw was accompanied with shockwaves and sharp ripples.
But no matter how hard she tried, not a single hair on Severin was touched. He moved between the punches, his movement sharp and decisive. He avoided her casually, so easily, as if he was only playing with a kid.
That frustrated her and she grew angrier.
She began to punch indiscriminately, shouting and huffing.
Julius suddenly smiled. "Nice. It's my turn now. Time to fight back. Look out!"
He transferred his dagger and then leaped into her flurry of punches.
Since he could see some two seconds ahead, he fit perfectly to all her punches while his own hand flashed out and he began to cut her.
His dagger flashed, hitting the side of her fist and her hand.
Floows! Floows! Woosh! Swoosh!
Bam! Bam!
His dagger flashed in the air each time, and her punches hit the air with booming sounds.
And soon, blood covered most of her hands and her movement began to slow. She began to breathe hard and her eyes dimmed.
Julius Crane jumped back from the fight and created space between them. "I think it's time."
Her face was swollen and she huffed. "What...what did you do..."
Julius smirked. "Although my powers increased, I'm not really a physical fighter and in the future I would have to look for a suitable weapon. But for now, a dagger coated in deadly poison, made specially for Etherion users, works just as well."
She opened her mouth to say something, but the poison must have gotten to her throat because she could only gasp as she fell to one knee, and then she hit the ground with a thud.
Julius sighed, but his eyes were blazing. It was the first time he would be winning a fight without struggling at all. He couldn't help the grin that tugged at the side of his cheek. "I did this."
Even though the team tried to hide it, they all breathed a sigh of relief before their amazement for Julius shone through. They weren't looking down on him, they just knew his capabilities and what he was capable of doing or not.
Even with the training they all had, they still held their breath throughout the fighting and only relaxed when his opponent fell to the ground.
"Impressive," Severin said, and he smiled.
His reason for picking Julius Crane as one of his team was showing through and he was glad for it. He could already predict some seconds into the future.
But in the book, he did more. A lot more.
Borris ran to his team member to check her, and his face turned chilly. "She's dead."
Julius looked solemn when he heard that, and although he would do the same again, he couldn't help the twist in his heart.
Severin looked at him with a cold face. "Don't fret. Once a fight starts, it is you against them. That is the mentality. Unless you are absolutely sure of your power over your opponent,
"If you don't give your all to a fight, if you are not ready to give your all to a fight, then you should not start the fight in the first place."
This was a mentality that was known to all Etherion users, but those that don't do much fighting like Julius needed to be reminded again and again.
Wouldn't it be a shame if Severin lost the tool he had been cultivating all through?
He shook his head. He was the one that gave Julius the poison from the leftover he used when he was training back at the old dorm.
Julius nodded sharply and put his glasses back on. "Fighting an S-ranked is sure a good experience."
The remaining teammates looked at them with envy. Derrick snorted coldly. He was now a C-rank, but with Severin's boost, he still couldn't reach the height of fighting an S-rank.
"I'm fighting next," Derrick said as he cracked his knuckles and neck.
Nobody said anything as he stepped into the arena before even Borris called his own team members.
By this time, the whole team was looking sour, and the guardians, the ones against Miret, could already feel things slipping out of their hands.
If the Zenith Hero Academy won again, then there was no reason to continue the fighting.
Miret would have won.
Ravyn twitched, his eyes glowed a dull silver, and he shot out of his seat, pointing. "I don't support this! This is not how it was supposed to be done!"
Everyone turned to the guardian.
Miret glared coldly. "What is it now, Ravyn? Are you not the one that picked your own team? What is the issue now?"
Ravyn gritted his teeth. He paused, as if now that he had shouted out his outburst, he knew it wouldn't hold water, but he continued anyway. "And so what, Miret? You must be manipulating this somehow!
"I will not accept the results of this... that sham of a duel!"
Severin already knew where things were going to end, especially when he saw the gleam in Solari's eyes. '...these fucking bastards...'
Miret turned to Solari. "You are in charge of this. Why are you not saying anything? The duel must go on!"
Solari rubbed his chin, his eyes gleaming as he looked at the Blackspire Academy and the Zenith Hero Academy. "Well..."
