Talentless Extra Of The Legendary Hero Academy

Chapter 182: The Guardians

"Today is the day of the fight. I hope you are all ready," Miret said with his hands on his hips and his eyes on them.

Severin and his team stood there before him.

They wore black leather armor that fitted them snugly.

Derrick snorted and flashed a cold smile. "We are ready."

Miret nodded without expression, and then he led them out of the building. Grey still covered the sky, but the streets were strangely deserted of prisoners.

"What's happening here? Why's there no prisoners here?" Julius asked, looking around.

"Today, they'll be treated to a special spectacle of fighting between you guys," Miret grinned. "It's one of the few things they look forward to each year, the fighting that the host brings every time they come."

"So... this is like a festival of sorts?" Ethan asked.

"Somewhat. It's a type of entertainment festival for them. They bet the little they have, save the little food they have, and bring it here.

"We guardians gave them tact agreement for all of this," Miret explained.

He continued to lead them through the streets, straight through the central street that led directly to the middle of the prison. It was the biggest building, and apparently, the real thing was underground, and it housed the most deadly of the prisoners. It also housed the arena.

Suddenly a voice came at them from the side, and a figure detached itself toward them. It was a woman. All lovely curves, but her aura was like a rough blade against the flesh.

Severin and his team locked on her immediately and felt on edge, their bodies ripping with alarm of danger.

Miret smiled and gestured. "This is Vetra of the five guardians and my partner that wanted Isolde Dusk to remain at sea."

She smiled gently, but there was very little warmth in it. "So this is the team that is going to represent us, eh, Miret."

Miret clapped. "The best of the very best. You must remember them, right?"

Vetra laughed softly. Her laugh was warm and soft. It should set the mind at ease, but instead, it only made people who heard it feel as if they were about to be attacked and they should be warned. "Oh! I remember them alright. They're the ones that killed the team I brought, right?"

Her eyes landed on Severin, and he tensed.

He didn't know exactly how powerful the five guardians are, but they are as powerful as a House Head. Some, even more. They have to be. They guard one of the most deadly and strongest prisons in the Empire and the continent.

Miret nodded. "I think I had the better heir this time."

Vetra nodded in agreement, her eyes gleaming. "I can't wait to see how you will do against them, Reignhart. I'm curious. A Reignhart put the Isolde Dusk at sea. Will one remove it?"

Severin smiled softly. "I'm afraid I won't be fighting today. I leave that to my trusted team."

The smile froze on her face. "Is that so? Interesting indeed."

The walk to the arena was awkward but fast after that.

The biggest building in Isolde Dusk was very large indeed. It was made of the dull material as all the others, but at least they tried to be creative with it.

They built it as the smaller version of Isolde Dusk.

"The rules of the duel are simple. Either you do it one on one with different members of the two teams or you all fight battle royal. It doesn't matter. The team with the biggest wins or that remains standing would be the winner,"

Vetra explained as they entered.

They could already hear shouting and screaming from the inside, strong enough to shake the whole building. Miret smiled. "The prisoners must have started the fun without us."

They entered through one of the numerous entrances into the large arena. The screaming hit them like a physical blow, and the heat didn't make it any easier. The smell of sweat and unwashed bodies assaulted their noses.

Severin twisted his nose. At least he didn't cover his nose like the other members of the team.

It could also be said that Etherion users have sharper noses than most.

It was shaped like a bowl. All the curved sides were filled with seats, with the prisoners already shouting and screaming, cheering those fighting below in the middle.

Two prisoners were locked in a wrestling match, bodies slick with sweat as they tried to see who had the upper hand.

Severin watched them briefly before his attention was caught by another thing.

A large stand that stood to one side with five throne-like chairs on it.

Miret led them over to the chairs.

Vetra was already sitting in one with a coy look on her face.

Miret walked up to them, flashed them a smile, and then he turned around. "Everyone! Meet my team! Ethan Aldrich! Serena Ashford! Celia Hartwell! Derrick Vance! Julius Crane and Severin Reignhart!"

Tension swelled from the three guardians so much that it tightened the air, and a feeling of danger spread through the whole arena, quieting down the prisoners.

Apart from Vetra.

There was a small man with white hair on his face, Ravyn, who looked as if he had not been surprised that much in ages. "What?"

Then there was Nyssara. A man that looked as if he should be an administrator in the capital with his neat clothing, combed hair, glasses, and stern face. "What have you done this time, Miret!"

And then there was Solari. The man with the most muscle that Severin had ever seen. The one that remained neutral and caused the others to settle things through duels. He threw his head back and laughed after he controlled his shock.

Vetra seemed as if she was enjoying herself.

Miret looked pleased with himself when he saw their reactions. "I have personally selected this team myself, and I have high hopes for them.

"I warn you now, surrender before it's too late, and don't embarrass yourself before a Reignhart!"

Ravyn seemed to have swallowed something too big for his throat. "Miret!"
