SYSTEM OF THE BONE DEMON

"Are you kidding?" Kurtz muttered, looking at the options, each single addition in stat point provided a considerable increase to his power. This was simply offering a giant leap to what the ancient Vampire had accumulated over several hundred of years.

He immediately narrowed down to Agility and Perception. While increasing his brute strength might seem important, the increase still paled in comparison to that of Agility and perception.

He was however, torn between this two, the increase in Agility was by eleven points and this would no doubt, increase his fluidity and movement speed greatly and make his attacks more swift and chaotic for his enemies. As for the increase in perception, while it might not directly increase his battle strength, it did improve senses like ear, smell, sight, and even the strange sixth sense which few supernatural creatures possessed.

"I choose Agility." Kurtz eventually stated and he could feel some tingling sensations in his muscle.

[Defense: 40]

[Perception: 40]

This was a decision he had made after a careful consideration, when the system upgraded itself it had also given him a skill which could double his perception stat, even though this was temporary, Kurtz decided he would have to do with it for now.

Then he walked into a red chamber...

Hours passed...

In front of a gigantic red crystalline sphere, Kurtz stood looking at his father's body suspended in the midst of the giant sphere.

He didn't know for how long he had stood here but without a word, he turned back. On reaching the place where he had fought Stael, he paused, the ancient vampire was no more there.

Reaching outside the tunnel, he could see the two red eyed Vampires turning sharply to look at him before bowing. Kurtz was slightly surprised at this, the Vampires couldn't see his eyes as he had purposely shielded them with the bucket hat, and again, his scent was slightly different to any other Vampire but this Vampire did not even seems surprised to see him emerged from inside the tunnel.

"Lord Stael ordered to give this to you Guardian." One of the Vampire suddenly spoke before the other brought forth a baby's fist sized red orb and Kurtz brow rose.

Now he could understood why the Vampire were acting so strange, the ancient Vampire had probably told them some strange things about him but more importantly, he had entrusted a strange orb to him.

Accept or Reject]

Kurtz looked at the orb for a moment before shaking his head, the Vampires would never accept him as one of them, not to talk of a Guardian. Just as he decided to leave however, another system message popped up again.

[Forbidden energy detected]

[New Quest]

[Demonic Orb: The Orb of the Guardians hosts great amount of forbidden energy. Find its origin.]

Kurtz stiffened for a moment, the word 'forbidden' struck a chord and the system had even given him a Quest. He was now quite interested in knowing what this orb really was.

"Did he told you what this is?" He asked the Vampires while looking at the orb with a slight frown.

"Lord Stael said this is the Orb of the Guardian." The Vampires replied simply and Kurtz brows creased even more. He had never heard of this item and didn't even know its effects but still, the system's Quest must be completed, Kurtz had no choice but to take the orb now.

"Very well then, say my thanks to him." He said taking the orb.

"Guardian, the ancient Vampire also requested you be present during his entombing, it is a few hours from now." The Vampires spoke again.

"I won't be present" he said simply and walked away.
