Chapter 23: Great One
In the human world...
The Boss sat in his usual staring at a screen which had suddenly lit up by the wall. On it, a man's face.
"Good day, General Jon. I hope you have good news." The boss spoke through his mask.
"I am afraid not Great one. The Magicians have requested to destroy the Seer Mercenary just like you predicted and they have made it clear that they will be using their personal soldiers." General Jon replied.
"Oh, that isn't necessarily bad news General Jon, have a great day." The Boss spoke before the screen turned blank.
"Huff, I am finally getting a break after all this years, I should tell her now." The Boss muttered before tapping on a button.
Some moments later, Linda walked into the room with slight frowned, "I saw a message from you, boss." She said.
"I sent it." The Boss replied simply.
"You are giving me a day off." Linda replied.
"Is that supposed to make you worried because you sound worried, Linda?" The Boss replied.
"I... I wanted to confirm if you really sent the message." Linda said.
"Because I never gave you a day off, right." The Boss spoke.
"Yes." Linda replied.
"That's because, where I am from, day off doesn't exist. I guess you could call us humanoid ants." The man Boss said with a chuckle.
The place went silent for a moment before Linda spoke, "Where did you come from boss, who are you." She said before gulping.
This was a question Linda had always wanted to ask from that day, the day Boss had rescued her from a capsizing boat which killed her mother.
She was already a teenager of thirteen years and she was twenty five. Linda had been personally tutored and train by the Boss for this twelve years but not for once had he removed the bland dark mask on his face, not even when he went to bathe.
"Where I am from, who I am." The Boss repeated before shaking his head and speaking, "survive first Linda, your answer are all at hand." The Boss stated.
Linda looked on at his back for a while before exiting the room.
...
Back in the Blood Kingdom...
His claws swiped at a group of incoming bats but they had dissipated into mist before he felt a figure materialized behind him and a terrifying force impacted Kurtz behind his neck sending him reeling forwards in blinding pain and soon he had plunged face first into the hard ground feeling the bones in his neck displaced out of their usual place.
"Damn! I will really die at this rate." Kurtz muttered as he quickly used his powers, putting the bone back in place but it was too late. A feet slammed powerfully in his back and he felt his spine and rib breaking from the enormous force.
Kurtz would not believe a creature could be so powerful that even he stood no chance against them. This meant Stael was even stronger than the previous Queen, maybe even than the King, now he was beginning to understand why no one bothered the ancient Vampire and left him to do his things.
Suddenly, Stael began to speak, "You see, I was quite surprised to see that you had killed the Queen. You are far younger and Vampires are known to grow stronger with age. Again, you are also just a half vampire so I was curious, what was it about you that made you so strong?" Stael paused slightly, his leg pushing even more against Kurtz who felt himself getting breathless, "now I see there is nothing, you are not strong, the Queen was just too weak. All of you are weak and this is seriously getting me pissed, I have to go to rest now, I can feel my body protesting, it is too spent, will I seriously have to leave the Kingdom under the guardian of your weak claws." The vampire spoke, his voice getting angrier with each word.
[Bone control activated]
[Error! Enemy's perception is far stronger than the User's, Bone control failed!]
Kurtz felt a wave of hopelessness washed over him on seeing this, of course, he had always known that a creature's skill level was influenced greatly by their perception as the more their perception, the more they could perceive their internal energy and in turn, control it.
"Damn! I am not even a vampire, I have never been accepted as one so what the hell are you saying. You should go meet Morgana or someone else, why me?" Kurtz replied through whizzing breathes and great frustration.
"Why you? Well, you came into my territory and I thought it was a chance to see what you could do. Now I think I will just continue hanging there in that place until I see a better option that can replace me. As for you, you have given me hope for nothing so you must be punished, with death!" The ancient Vampire declared before raising his leg or he tried to.

"Uh, what is this?" Steal said feeling his leg turned stiff.
"That is what happen when you piss me off, when you piss the Bone Demon off!" Kurtz shouted before grabbing into the frozen leg and in a swift motion, he picked himself off the ground spinning in air before slamming Stael's body into the ground.
Groaning, the ancient Vampire golden eyed dimmed in pain but this disappeared in a seconds, instead, there was now a strange glint of joy in his eyes.
"I guess the Blood Kingdom isn't really hopeless after all, it is your job now. Protect the Vampire race." The ancient Vampire spoke while Kurtz eyes darkened and he slowly walked towards the Vampire.
"You can still stand and fight, do it, fight me!" Shouted glaring at the ancient Vampire who simply shook his head.
"I have no need to fight again, now it is time to rest." he said and Kurtz glared at him for a moment before walking off into the dark tunnel.
