Chapter 14: My Condolences
“I am more interested in knowing this, why would a Royal Vampire mate a human, they are just foods, how could you.” Kurtz asked failing to understand. He had grown up in the Vampire world and all his life, humans had always been just source of blood for Vampires, a relationship between a Vampire and human could not even be conceived by most Vampires, even Kurtz felt repulsed by that idea, in fact he suddenly felt repulsed by himself, now he understood why all other Vampires detested him, after all he was only a half breed with the lowly blood of a human.
“How could I, well… you can say I was just a young Vampire who liked to explore, I like to follow my heart and test boundaries, I didn’t even care about what any other person thought. Trust me, you would rather not tell me this is right cause I would simply look for a way to prove it is not and that the opposite of your claim is actually the right one. On a random day, I decided to break into the human settlement and just as they always did, the human started scurrying away. Never could I have however thought a fragile looking female human would stand up to me, she demanded to know why I was here claiming that the agreement of the humans and the Vampires was that the humans would only be required to donate blood once a week which they all already did, trust me I was speechless, fascinated and curious, things just developed from their,” The King said chuckling as he shook his head, “thinking back now, I was really one hell of a jerk and I am even more fortunate to have committed the blunder I did with your mother, if I hadn’t suffered out there for a year and get some reeducation, I could have really lead the Vampire Kingdom to its doom with my stupidity or get killed before I did.” The King said chuckling again.
“You were fortunate, you brought me to this world, a bastard with the blood of the lowly humans who can’t even carry your crown and you think that is something to be happy about.” Kurtz asked, his face hard as he glared at the King.
“Bringing you to this world might be a mistake on my part but looking at you now, I confidently say it wasn’t a bad mistake. You are not a lowlife in anyway, why did you think I had to make this deal with you in the place, why do you think I requested you let your sister have the crown without a fight.” The King asked looking at Kurtz whose brow rose.
In fact, Kurtz had once been a powerless Vampire that envied other Royal Vampires who all possessed blood powers but all that had changed the moment he discovered his own power. He had immediately ran to his father in excitement but instead of sharing his excitement, Kurtz had been banned by the King from showing his power to any other vampire and this had also perpetuated to the believe that he was a weak, useless bastard, another thing he had to thank his father for.
“Trust me son, the power you possess is strange and has great potential. Though, I am protecting you by telling you to keep it away from others but I am also protecting others, we have learned all there is to learn about the Blood power and have inculcated control into every single Vampire but for your power, the power to manipulate bones, not a single record exist about that. You don’t know what triggers it and trust me, our powers when wrongfully triggered can cause great destruction. So the only reason I told you to throw in the fight was simply because Morgana must win, only her will the Vampire Kingdom accept but your power might prove too strong for her and even for you causing chaos.” The King spoke and Kurtz face hardened even more.
“I am not a loose cannon okay, I can control myself pretty well.” Kurtz spoke before coming to a gradual stop. Looking around, he could see a street with several people moving to and fro, several bright lamps dotted the street side lighting up the whole place when Kurtz suddenly a scream rang out.
“Vampires!”
The place immediately turned chaotic as everyone on the street fled.
Kurtz couldn’t help but sigh, this were humans and just like the bugs they were, they always lost their cool at the sight of any Vampire, however he and the King were still some distance from the settlement, the humans were supposed to possessed very dull senses so how had then been discovered.
“Stop!” a firm womanly voice suddenly shouted from the midst of the humans and Kurtz could see someone walking forwards, the fiercest human he had ever laid his sight on.
“To what honor do we owe your visit, Queen Lilith.” the woman spoke, her eyes fixed on a figure who slowly moved in from a side.
“Honor.” The Queen spoke chuckling for a moment before staring at the woman, her golden eyes glowing, “how dare you speak to me, you bad of blood.” She said before blurring and she had appeared in front of the human in a moment. Her claws dug right into the human’s chest and she hunched over, her face clouded in pain and disbelieve while blood trailed down her chest into the Queen’s arm.
“Noooo!” Kurtz heard the King shouted and his blood ran cold, why did his father sounded so pained.
Slowly, the Queen turned towards the King, a maniacal smile on her face as she spoke, “You think you can keep it a secret from me didn’t you, that you bred with a big and begat that blight.” She said glaring at Kurtz on whose face, confusion appeared, then denial as he heard the Queen’s successive word, “well, here she is Kurtz, the beloved mother you are here to see.” The Queen said, before throwing the lifeless woman’s body right towards Kurtz whose hand involuntarily moved catching her body from the air.
His eyes glanced into the face of the woman in his hand, her eyes were looking back into his, great anguish visible on it. Her hands twitched trying to rise towards his face but they were too weak, she was too weak to move a hand.
Kurtz did not know why but he grabbed her hand and brought it right into his cheeks, “mother,” he called softly feeling her weak hands pressed into his cheek and from the corner of her eyes, a tears rolled down.
The woman lips moved, she wanted to smile but a sudden streamed of blood had surged out of her mouth in an instant and Kurtz watched the woman in his hand, in mother turned into a shriveled corpse in an instant.
By the side, the Queen mouth was wide open and the stream of blood which had surged out of the woman body was sucked into her wide mouth, disappearing in an instant and the Queen licked her crimson lips with a satisfied expression.
“My condolences Kurtz.” She spoke with a smirk.
