Chapter 81: SysDi 81: Closer Date to the Entrance Exams
Way past the panel, the view is astonishing. Evan could see that the lake that had been there before was gone.
There is only a crater left, with a platform in the middle where Evan used to walk to. It stops exactly at the middle, while the other half of the platform floating in the water is on bottom of the crater where the water should be.
Evan looked on in disbelief. Sure, he did agree on using his Void ability to absorb the entire Lake of Boon. He was assuming that maybe it will only get a few of it.
He was not expecting the entire water to be taken.
There was no rumbling or shaking of the ground. Evan also thought that he would be thrown away to the wall from the impact of how strong his Void ability is but none of those happened.
He steps back a little, the panels in front of him blurry as he thinks of what to do next.
Who would have thought that him accepting the restricted ability will end up with a domino effect of his most used abilities to maxed out?
Evan shook his head. He dissipated the panels in front of him with a single wave of his hand. This all doesn't matter. He needs to go back to the Valrepite Manor. Who knows how long he has been in here.
After a quick call for his status and a fast travel back to his room in the Valrepite Manor, Evan soon found himself moving there directly.
The curtains are closed, but he can see that the light is passing through.
It is morning.
Almost as if the realization that it is already morning is a cue by itself, Evan heard the familiar blare of an alarm. The very same that woke him up yesterday.
Looks like he had been in the stone hill cave for the entire night.
At least it is not like the second day or something like that.
He heard knocking on the door, and Evan walks over to open it. He sees Joshua who furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at him.
Evan waited for Joshua to say anything, but he didn't. Instead, the servant just bowed his head.
"Can I enter?" He asked after a brief paused.
Evan moved away to give him passage. "Yes."
Joshua goes in. Like he had done yesterday, he parted the curtains and began making Evan's bed once again.
"How are you this morning, Joshua?" Evan asked, trying to start a conversation with him.
"I'm okay." Joshua replies, leaning down to fix the mattress. "I thought I was late for going here in your room after the alarm. I had to run."
Evan blinks his eyes at what he had just heard. "You don't really have to run. Even if you're late, I wake up early. I can just make the bed I sleep in."
Joshua turns around to face him fully. "That makes me want to be on time even more! I would not want to have the head maid's wrath on me!"
"Okay, okay." Evan raised two hands in surrender. "Will not do that then."
There is more silence between them. A little bit later, Joshua prepares the bath. While Evan washes, his servant prepares the clothes he will be wearing for the day.
Since he would be doing some training with Sir Theobald, Evan had already asked Joshua if he can find training clothes along with what he has to wear for the day.
So, when Evan went out of the washroom, he saw two different kinds of clothing, one for the entire day wear, and the other for the training he will be doing after his breakfast.
Breakfast went quickly than Evan thoughts. Spire not Sir Theobald ate breakfast with him. The only mealtime they all eat together is dinner time, it seems like.
After eating, he made his way back to his room and change his clothes. Accompanied by his servant everywhere, he began making his way towards the training room.
He passed by the main hall and saw that Spire is walking towards him this time.
"What happened to your eyes?" Spire asked, with a raised eyebrow.
She is in a simple training clothing, long pants and hair in braids. Her fox like tail is wagging a little behind her while one of her her fox like ears were raised along with her eyebrow.
Spire looks more intrigued and confused, not at all like the pompous and loud young lady that Evan had first met before.
But why is she asking about his eyes? Nothing was wrong about his eyes right? Then again, he did not have the time to actually check if there is anything wrong with his eyes.
When he accepted the reward last night, did he actually get a physical change to his eyes?
But how could that be?
Then, he remembered that Joshua was looking at him weirdly earlier. His servant seems a little taken aback, as if he is seeing Evan for the first time.
They had only met recently, and he had been accompanying Evan everywhere. So if something has changed, Joshua would be the first person to notice.
If anyone else has noticed it at all, no one had mentioned it to him.
"What do you mean?" Evan asked, raising an eyebrow of his own. "My eyes are perfectly fine.
Spire scoffs a little. "I remember what your eyes look like. We have met with what felt like forever ago, okay? As far as I remember, your eyes were brown until yesterday. Your eyes are blue right now. Are you sick?"
Evan's eyes are blue? Is she kidding? There is no way that his eye color has just changed overnight did it?
Then again, it makes sense. There was an entire thing about the reboot. Maybe his eye color changed when he was unconscious.
Speaking of which, it did feel like he was well rested too. As if he had slept in the most comfortable bed, at least until he woke up and realized that he had been laying down on the ground of a dirty cave.
He is going way out of topic. Evan physically had to shake his head to get him back to present.
"Huh. I didn't even know they were blue." Evan replied.
Spire leans forwards to look at him. Her eyes were narrowed, as if she was scrutinizing him.
Evan stood there frozen in place, blinking his eyes rapidly as if he could not believe she would lean that close.
He steps back before she could. And she did step back after a while.
"Interesting." She said, humming a little. "Yeah... Your eyes look really cool. It is still brown, yes, but there are some small sparkles from really up close that is somehow making them appear like they are blue." Spire explains and nods her head, as if she was able to explain it in the best way she could.
Evan just looked at her dumbfounded. How could many tiny blue sparkles make his dark brown eyes become blue immediately?
He wanted to question a lot about his new found abilities but there is just no one to ask the questions to. Maybe if Iva is around later, he can ask.
"I think I won't keep you for breakfast." Evan says, pointing to where the dining room was. "I already ate before training, so you should go now to replenish energy. They offered me a different flavor of ice cream."
At the mention of her favorite dessert, Spire's eyes widened and both of her fox like ears perk up in attention. "Ah! You should have started with that information! Good luck with training! Myra, come!"
Spire almost practically run towards the direction of the east wing. Maybe she would clean up first before eating.
Evan could only assume since that is something that he would do.
He made his way towards the training room this time. Made his way inside the room with Joshua waiting outside. Then, he got down the same stairs in the corner.
Sir Theobald raised an eyebrow at the sight of him. "Good morning, young Evan." He greeted. "Do my eyes fool me or I am seeing blue instead of brown? I may need to wear new spectacles if that is the case."
Evan shook his head. "No, Sir Theobald. Your eyesight is fine. Spire already told me the same thing." He sighs a little. "Said that my eyes have tiny blue sparkles that make them look like blue."
Sir Theobald hums at that response. "All right. We can talk more about that in detail later. I hope you are ready for a more intensive training. Your entrance exam day is fast approaching."
The older Valrepite stood up straight before going into a defensive position. Then, he made a small beckoning gesture for Evan. "Come now, young Evan. Let us begin."
Evan took a deep breath before assuming an attack stance.
